the little FAT girl Introduce
In the vibrant heart of Harlem, where the rich history of Upper Manhattan meets a modern culinary renaissance, "the little FAT girl" has carved out a unique and indulgent niche. Located within the 10037 zip code, this boutique bakery is far from your average neighborhood sweets shop. It is a place where decadence is celebrated, and flavor is never compromised for the sake of dietary labels. For New Yorkers who take their desserts seriously, this Harlem gem has become a synonymous destination for one specific, perfectly executed treat: the brownie. In a city that is always on the hunt for the next "best thing," this bakery has focused on mastering the fundamentals of cocoa, butter (or plant-based alternatives), and sugar to create an experience that feels both luxurious and nostalgic.
The name "the little FAT girl" itself evokes a sense of unapologetic joy in eating, and the products certainly live up to that promise. Specializing in high-end, artisanal brownies and "brookies" (the legendary brownie-cookie hybrid), the bakery caters to a diverse New York palate. Whether you are a strictly plant-based diner or someone who appreciates a traditional dairy-rich dessert, the consistency across their menu is remarkable. The bakery has managed to solve the age-old problem often found in specialty baking: maintaining moisture and depth of flavor without the use of animal products. The result is a selection of treats that patrons frequently mistake for being "homemade" in the best possible way—fresh, warm-spirited, and undeniably rich.
Location and Accessibility
The little FAT girl is conveniently located at 2266 5th Ave #220, New York, NY 10037, USA. Situated on the legendary 5th Avenue in the Upper Harlem/Hamilton Heights area, the bakery is nestled in a neighborhood known for its beautiful architecture and a rapidly growing food scene. Its position in the 10037 area makes it a vital part of the local community, serving residents of the nearby Harlem River Houses and those living along the bustling 135th Street corridor.
For New Yorkers navigating the city via public transit, the bakery is exceptionally accessible. It is just a short walk from the 135 St subway station, which serves the 2 and 3 express trains, providing a direct and fast connection to Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Additionally, several major bus routes, including the M1, M7, and M102, run frequently through the area, making it an easy "stop-and-drop" for those commuting through Harlem. For those who prefer to drive, the shop’s proximity to the Harlem River Drive provides a quick route for pickups, though like most of Manhattan, street parking is best navigated during off-peak hours. The bakery’s location in a mixed-use residential and commercial building ensures it remains a grounded, neighborhood-centric business that is easy to find for locals and visitors alike.

What is worth choosing
If you are a first-time visitor or a newcomer to the little FAT girl, the "Vegan Brownies" are an absolute must-order. Even for those who do not follow a plant-based diet, these brownies are a revelation. They are famously moist and fresh, defying the common stereotype of vegan baked goods being dry or crumbly. The richness of the chocolate is deep and satisfying, making it an excellent choice for any chocolate connoisseur. It is the kind of treat that surprises you with its quality, often leading customers to remark that they would never have known it was vegan unless told.
For those looking for the ultimate indulgence, the "Brookies" are the standout choice. By combining a fudgy brownie with a classic chocolate chip cookie, the bakery creates a multi-layered experience that is "over the top" in the best possible way. The cookie top provides a slightly chewy, buttery finish to the dense brownie base. While a full selection of these treats may cost around $40, the consensus among Harlem locals is that the quality and taste make it an investment well worth the money. Whether you are buying them for yourself or as a gift for someone special, choosing a mix of the signature brownies and the brookies will give you the full, decadent experience that this shop is known for. Don't forget to ask about any seasonal variations, as the bakery occasionally adds limited-time flavors that elevate their chocolate-centric menu even further. Would you like me to help you find the best way to order these for a local Harlem delivery?

The vegan brownies were fresh. Happily surprised at how moist they were. You would have thought homemade. The brookies were also fresh, moist and the chocolate chip cookie on top made them over the top good.

I received my brownies and I must say they were moist and fresh. Husband thought they were really good too! Spent a total of about $40, but the taste made it worth the money!

For the past three years as part of my family's black history month celebration, my children and I have purchased a product from a black owned business. We just stumbled across this and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Brookie bag. All we could say was WOW! Those brownies are heavenly. They are rich and moist. Hands down the best brownie we've ever tasted. I wish they sold these in store. They would be a staple in our home. Seriously SO delicious!

I’ve ordered these brownies online three times now, and they are truly some of the most delicious (regular/yammies) brownies I’ve ever had in my life. The flavor, texture, and overall quality are consistently outstanding. I’m already thinking about how I can purchase a larger quantity for my nonprofit organization, DrinkWater Family Services, as we prepare for our 5th Year-in-the-Community fundraiser event in May. That’s how impressed I am! Highly recommend — you will not be disappointed.

Listen… I was not prepared. These brownies are amazing — like “hide them from the rest of the family” amazing. Moist, rich, perfectly fudgy, and somehow still light at the same time. Absolute perfection in every bite. The flavor? Spectacular. The texture? Spectacular. Me trying to stop at one brownie? Impossible. They taste homemade in the best way — like someone’s favorite auntie made them with love, butter, and a little bit of magic. I don’t know what they’re putting in these brownies, but I’m convinced they deserve their own holiday. If you haven’t tried The Little FAT Girl Brownies yet, do yourself a favor and order them. Just be warned… once you start, you’re gonna need more.
