The Maccs Introduce
In the bustling industrial heart of the Hunts Point neighborhood in the Bronx, a unique culinary venture is reimagining the classic coconut macaroon. The Maccs, located at 220 Coster St, is not your typical neighborhood bakery. Founded by Michelle Goldberg, this establishment has gained a dedicated following among New Yorkers who crave a sophisticated, "better-for-you" indulgence. Combining the nostalgic chew of toasted coconut with the refined snap of fair-trade Belgian chocolate, The Maccs offers a gourmet experience that bridges the gap between a health-conscious snack and a luxury dessert. For local residents and sweet-seekers across the city, this Bronx-based bakery has become a go-to for high-quality, artisanal treats that prioritize real ingredients over artificial fillers.
The story of The Maccs is one of perseverance and passion. Michelle Goldberg, a triathlete and mother of four, began experimenting with these recipes in 2009 to satisfy her own sweet tooth while adhering to her standards for nutrition and a gluten-free lifestyle. What started as a small-scale operation in the Hamptons eventually evolved into a professional bakery in the Bronx. Today, the facility on Coster Street serves as the hub where every "Macc" is baked to order, ensuring that customers receive the freshest possible product. The brand's philosophy—"Real Chocolate, Real Coconut, Real Bliss"—resonates deeply with modern New York consumers who are increasingly wary of seed oils, preservatives, and "weird" ingredients commonly found in mass-produced candies.
Location and Accessibility are strategic for this specialized bakery. Situated at 220 Coster St, Bronx, NY 10474, The Maccs is nestled within a vibrant industrial zone known for its food distribution and manufacturing roots. While the business primarily thrives on its robust online store and shipping capabilities, its physical presence in the Bronx allows it to maintain a close connection to the city’s culinary scene. For those navigating the area, the bakery is accessible via local transit and is a short distance from the Hunts Point Avenue subway station. However, most loyal customers interact with the brand through its efficient delivery service, which brings fresh-baked Bronx magic directly to doorsteps across the five boroughs and beyond.
What sets The Maccs apart from other local bakeries is the "Macc" itself. Unlike traditional French macarons (meringue-based) or standard supermarket macaroons, these are dense, moist, and intentionally designed to be satisfying in just one or two bites. Each treat is naturally gluten-free and contains no eggs, flour, or binders. Instead, the recipe relies on high-quality shredded coconut, Madagascar vanilla, and premium Belgian chocolate. This focus on "clean label" ingredients makes them a favorite for individuals with specific dietary needs, including those following a diabetic-friendly or gluten-free diet, without sacrificing the decadence expected of a premium New York dessert.

- Exceptional Customer Service: Known for quick responses and a personal touch that makes every order feel special.
What is worth choosing at The Maccs? If you are a newcomer, the "Variety Macc Pack" or the "Discovery Pack" is highly recommended. These allow you to sample the diverse range of flavors that Michelle has perfected. Among the favorites, the Apple Cinnamon is frequently cited for its nostalgic, warm flavor, while the Key Lime offers a refreshing, tart contrast to the rich white chocolate coating. For those who prefer a classic profile, the Macadamia Nut and Salted Caramel are standout choices that highlight the quality of the raw ingredients. If you are a serious chocolate lover, the "Dark Chocolate Lava" or "Chocolate Chocolate" Maccs provide a decadent, multi-layered cocoa experience. Many regulars also suggest keeping your Maccs in the freezer, as they are "outrageously delicious" when eaten chilled.
The experience of receiving a box from The Maccs is often described by customers as a "high-quality experience" from start to finish. From the elegant branding and thoughtful stickers to the "Ti Amo" notes included in the packaging, every detail is curated to spark joy. In a city as fast-paced as New York, the personal attention provided by the team at 220 Coster St makes a significant difference. It is rare to find a company where the owner still takes the time to write back to customers, but at The Maccs, that level of care is simply part of the recipe.

I received these as a birthday gift and I was so pleasantly surprised! I watch for seed oils and other weird ingredients, and these chocolates are definitely something I didn’t feel bad about eating after reading the ingredient list. I especially loved trying all of the different flavors. Apple cinnamon has to be my favorite, but strawberry shortcake, chocolate chocolate, and salted caramel were also yummy. Key lime and orange too! I did think the jelly/flavor fillings in the middle could have been more robust, like the pictures on the website, but not enough to complain! I’ll be purchasing these for myself as well as gifts for others! So yummy!

Have been wanting to try these for over a year. Finally ordered! Definitely recommend MACCS! Michelle the owner has perfected the perfect snack. Not too sweet just right. High quality ingredients you can taste in every bite. Excellent customer service. What company does the owner write you back! Michelle does. Very high quality experience. If you have been on the fence, just order already! It’s a real treat! I ordered the key lime, macadamia nut, and classic dark. All delivered. Key lime not too tart. Macadamia nut my favorite.

I ordered a variety pack of Maccs for my anniversary as a special treat for me and my husband. Their Customer service was great and assured me the chocolates would be received by the day I needed them to arrive, before we left for a mini vacation. They did. We love the rich Dutch chocolate and the variety of flavors. We both love coconut and these were definitely a special treat that you need to try. Lovely packaging makes it feel even more special.

I have loved coconut my whole life. I see many people think Maccs are macaroons, BUT...they are not... Maccs seem to be in a class of their own. Not a macaroon and surely not a Mounds. These Delicious Daringly Different Decadent Delights (or my name isn't Deborah) artisan handcrafted all natural no preservative all fresh REAL ingredient wonders are superior to all the rest without being snobby. Picture this: Real Belgian chocolate, fresh coconut with the perfect consistency - just as advertised, with real fresh nuts, fruit, caramel and more delicious real fresh goodies all made daily and shipped PDQ delivery to you to ensure their freshness and protect the integrity of the product. I've ordered all kinds of flavors; my favorite thus far is Rasperry Blackout (I'm a raspberry addict) but subject to change as I make my way through the rest of the seductive options. I am a new customer and cannot tout this product enough. Michelle and her crew of chocoholic aficionados definitely sweat the small stuff; you can tell in every bite. Seriously, don’t stay away—try these Maccs--they will reset your palate and your expectations of what it means to have the real thing! Now I have to go order my refill! Deborah, Portland, Oregon
