What is worth choosing
When ordering from There Should Always Be Cake, the first-time visitor or the seasoned regular alike should look toward their signature "Drip Rose" cakes. These cakes have become a staple for birthdays in the Bronx, praised for their elegant aesthetics and the perfect balance of moist cake and rich frosting. For children’s parties, the "Unicorn" cake is a standout choice that never fails to impress; as one regular customer noted, guests "absolutely loved them and ate every single bit." The artistry in these designs is matched only by the "great texture and flavors" that have become the bakery's hallmark.
For those with dietary restrictions or a preference for organic ingredients, the vegan selection is surprisingly robust for a neighborhood bakeshop. The vegan chocolate chip cookies are frequently cited as "one of the best," offering a perfect balance of flavor that isn't overly sweet. If you are just stopping by for a snack, the vanilla cupcakes with their generous, scoop-sized frosting are a must-try. However, the true value of this bakery lies in its ability to work "individually with each customer." If you have a specific, detailed vision for a celebration, we recommend choosing a custom consultation. The ladies who work here are experts at translating a theme—whether it's a favorite character, a color palette, or a sophisticated floral arrangement—into a delicious reality. Ultimately, whether it is a small box of cupcakes for a quiet evening or a massive tiered cake for a gala, choosing There Should Always Be Cake ensures that your event will be remembered as much for the dessert as for the occasion itself.
The presence of such a high-caliber bakeshop on East Tremont Avenue is a testament to the thriving local business culture of the Bronx. It provides a level of craftsmanship and customer care that rivals any boutique bakery in the city, all while remaining firmly rooted in the community it serves. I’ve been ordering cakes here for years. Usually their drip rose cakes for friend’s bdays. They are our absolute fav. So when it was time to order a cake for my daughter’s bday party I knew they would make something beautiful and tasty. And of course they did not disappoint! The ladies that work here are also gems! Thank you so much for the cakes! We absolutely loved them and ate every single bit! Everyone loved the taste and commented on how beautiful the unicorn cake was. Thank you!!

I’ve ordered several cakes from here and stop in sometimes for a snack. The cakes are not just beautiful, they’re delicious and the customer service is great which is a plus! The staff is friendly and helpful and I always have a pleasant experience whether I’m in person or over the phone. Thankfully they’ve been very consistent and a staple at our events.

I finally stopped by There Should Always Be Cake today after telling myself for almost two years that I was going to check it out. I’m so glad I did. To my surprise, they had a nice selection of vegan items, which is not something I ever expected to find in a Bronx bakery. Finding plant-based or vegan-friendly spots around here is already tough, but a bakery that offers organic vegan options feels almost impossible — until now. I ordered a vanilla cupcake and one of their organic vegan chocolate chip cookies. The cupcake was really good, but that cookie completely won me over. It had the perfect balance of flavor — not overly sweet, just right. Honestly one of the best vegan cookies I’ve ever had. I’m so happy they opened up here in the Bronx. It feels good to know that I don’t have to travel far to enjoy high-quality, vegan-friendly baked goods. This is definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

While the cupcakes are good, very good even, the website says they have vegan options. Once I ordered a big order with a few days notice, and it was fine. The last 2 times, it was a problem. Once I called the day of and they said vegan orders require advance notice. While pissed I accepted it. The reason they said was because they don't keep vegan ingredients all the time, they buy it for specific orders. I think that's unprofessional, especially since vegan ingredients are more shelf stable than not vegan ingredients. Then, most recently, I called on a Thursday day to request Monday vegan cupcakes. Again, they said they don't have the ingredients. While this is before a holiday weekend, the bakery will remain open all the days of said holiday weekend. So what's the problem? This is really disappointing. Especially because quality vegan baked goods in the bronx are very hard to come by.
