What is worth choosing
When visiting Morris Park Bake Shop, knowing what to select from the glass display cases can make all the difference. For the first-time visitor, the fruit tarts are a significant draw. These are often praised for the quality of the custard and the buttery integrity of the crust. Specifically, the raspberry tarts are a frequent favorite among those who appreciate a balance of sweetness and natural fruit tartness. While some customers have noted that the freshness of fruit can vary depending on the season, the overall construction of the tarts remains a high point of their pastry program.
Another item that is widely considered worth choosing is the horseshoe cookie. This traditional bake is a staple of New York Italian bakeries, and at Morris Park Bake Shop, it is frequently served fresh, offering that perfect almond-flavored, slightly chewy texture that locals crave. It is an excellent accompaniment to a cup of coffee and represents the "old school" baking style that the Bronx is famous for.
For those looking for a larger commitment, their custom cakes remain a primary reason for the shop's longevity. Whether it is a simple layered chocolate cake or a more complex brownie-based creation with chocolate frosting, the shop caters to various palates. It is important for customers to communicate their preferences clearly, as the bakery offers a range of styles from classic heavy frostings to lighter fruit-based decorations. Navigating the choices at Morris Park Bake Shop is about finding those traditional gems—like the fresh cookies and the well-crafted custard tarts—that have kept the ovens running for years.
In conclusion, Morris Park Bake Shop offers a slice of Bronx history through its traditional approach to baking. While the experience of any local business can have its ups and downs, the shop's presence on Morris Park Avenue remains a vital part of the community's culinary identity. By focusing on the items they do best, such as their signature cookies and tarts, and maintaining a clean, accessible storefront, they continue to serve the diverse needs of New Yorkers looking for a taste of tradition.

Stale cheesecake and they have the audacity to apply fresh chocolate frosting on top to hide the super dry brownie underneath. Atmosphere is not inviting at all and people look like they don't want to be there at all.

I love a good bake shop. First time here, staff was very nice, the horseshoe cookie was fresh, I had a fruit tart as well.It was fresh and nice. I love the raspberries. The custard and crust was good, but not the strawberries, they weren't fresh . It's clean inside. New bake shop for me

My friend ordered a cake for her daughter’s birthday and it was DRY as a bone. It was disgusting. Pretty. But dry. Then she brought it back and they wouldn’t even partially refund her. So the whole cake is in the trash. 95$ for dry tasteless cake.

I recently bought two 8" birthday cakes from Morrise Park Bake Shop within a week, and both were excellent! The tiramisu cake was especially delicious, and I just picked up a red velvet cake for my wife's birthday—it was perfectly baked and tasted amazing. We’re not fans of overly sweet cakes, so the shop owner made it a bit less sweet for us, and everyone loved it! The cake was finished on the spot. What I love most about Morrise Park Bake Shop is the focus on flavor. While many bakeries focus on decoration at the expense of taste, here, the cake itself is incredible. A few weeks ago, I bought a nicely decorated cake from a different bakery just a few blocks away, but it was disappointing. Morrise Park Bake Shop is the real deal for anyone who values quality and flavor. The owner and staff are also fantastic—friendly and welcoming. The owner even offered samples of other cakes before I ordered the red velvet. If you're looking for great-tasting cakes, I highly recommend this shop!

I’m not really a baked goods type of gal but was looking for someplace that sells cake and was open early around the area. I got a chocolate fudge cake and 2 different cookies. The employee there was quite helpful. She seemed to be the only one working. I asked for a cookie recommendation and she said she likes the cookie with chocolate baked into it. The chocolate cake with fudge is very sweet. It’s the type of sweet that you need a glass of milk with. Too sweet even for me. The cookies were ok - like any cookie you’ll find in the market. The cost of a cake and two cookies was about $22. I thought that was affordable and decently priced but then again, I’m not a pastry person so I wouldn’t really know the price range of this stuff. No credit or debit cards accepted. It’s a cash only place so I would recommend bringing cash. If you’re a first timer like me at this spot and don’t have cash on you, the ATM is available around the corner at the 99€ store.
