What is worth choosing
When visiting Zaro's Family Bakery, it is hard to overlook the items that made them famous across the five boroughs. The Black and White Cookie is arguably their most prestigious offering—perfectly balanced with fondant icing and a cake-like base that is a true New York staple. For those looking for a savory start to their day, their bagels are a reliable choice. However, a local tip for the health-conscious or those with specific tastes: if you prefer a lighter touch with your toppings, it is highly recommended to emphasize your request during the order process, especially regarding the amount of butter or cream cheese, as the staff tends to be generous with portions in the traditional New York style.
Additionally, their artisanal breads and challah are frequently cited as excellent additions to any family dinner. If you are ordering through a delivery service like Uber Eats, it is wise to keep an eye on your order summary and ensure no unexpected adjustments are made. While the bakery provides a high-quality product, being an informed consumer helps ensure a smooth experience. Choosing Zaro's means choosing a piece of New York history, and for most, the classic flavors of their childhood favorites are well worth the trip to Metropolitan Avenue. From the smell of fresh yeast to the sight of sugar-dusted pastries, Zaro's remains a pillar of the Bronx baking scene.

I had to take a break because the lady does not take orders properly. The way I ask her to not put so much butter on my bagel she continues to put a tablespoon of butter a very unhealthy amount. Keep her on the register at all times, please!

DO NOT ORDER FROM ZAROS! I placed an order through Uber Eats and Uber now allows stores to adjust the price if there are any special requests made. I did not make any special requests and they charged me an additional $3 for no absolute reason. They basically stole $3 and the worse thing is Uber allows it. They tell you to reach out to the store to get it resolved. So I tried to call and of course the extension provided doesn’t even work. Do not give your business to these thieves.

Love their sourdough loaves and the scones! Super flaky and delicious! This place is small but always had a nice variety of bagels and other breakfast pastries as well as cake . If you’re craving a scone this is the place to go.

I love a good bagel and the bagels here are bomb, the texture is sooo good, I got one toasted with cream cheese and the shmear did not disappoint, and neither did the soft crunch of the bagel, the coffee here is not my fav, but the bagels and the customer service is top tier! The staff is so kind I wish they’d accept tips on their rotating screen thing but they don’t, I just hope they’re well compensated! :)
