What is worth choosing
When visiting E & L Bakery, the most popular choice for many locals is their selection of daily fresh pastries. These items are often the most reliable way to experience the bakery’s core offerings. For those looking for a quick snack or a side to their morning coffee, the assorted cookies and turnovers are frequently selected. These items provide a taste of traditional Bronx baking and are convenient for those on the go. The bakery's role as a neighborhood provider means that their standard loaves of bread and rolls are also a practical choice for residents looking for fresh alternatives to supermarket options.
If you are considering a custom cake for a special event, such as a birthday or a holiday gathering, it is essential to engage directly and clearly with the staff. Based on historical customer feedback, it is highly recommended to confirm all order details in writing and perhaps verify the progress of your order a day or two before the pickup date. While the bakery offers a range of sizes and decorative styles, providing clear visual references and specific instructions regarding the intended recipient and flavor preferences can help ensure the final product aligns with your expectations. For those who enjoy a dense, hearty texture in their desserts, the bakery’s sponge cakes are a distinct style that stands apart from lighter, airy varieties. As with any local establishment, the best experience often comes from clear communication and a shared understanding of the desired outcome for your special celebration.
Ultimately, E & L Bakery serves as a functional piece of the Bronx's commercial landscape. Whether you are stopping in for a single cupcake or planning a large family event, the bakery offers a localized experience that is uniquely New York. By supporting businesses like these, residents help maintain the diverse character of the borough's shopping districts.

Very disappointed. My wife placed a $50 deposit for my birthday cake. When she arrived to pick it up, the shop had no record of the order and had not started the cake. The $50 deposit was gone. No solution was offered. No compensation. Just empty apologies. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. Avoid this place. They will waste your time, keep your money, and take zero responsibility. If I could rate lower, I would.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! AVOID THIS BAKERY AT ALL COSTS!!!! In the spirit of the season during Christmas 2025, I decided to be a good sport and support local. I ordered from this establishment a 10” round cake for my brother (a MAN!) for his birthday on the 1st of January. When the order was placed and the dasher went to pickup, he called saying they are not giving him the correct order, when we spoke to the bakery staff, they assured us we were getting the right order we paid for. When it was delivered and unboxed, it was horrible! ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!!!!!! We got a white 6” cake with pink piping decorations and the pink scribble like a preschooler wrote the happy birthday script!! AWFUL!!!!! Waste of money!!!!! We specifically told them the cake was for a man!!!! So they sent the wrong size cake then sent along with it 6 cupcakes that were 6 bright primary colors colored!!! And multicolored sprinkles. None of which matched back to the cake!!! Putting that aside that they messed up the order, we still had to use the cake without any other option. When we cut into that cake!!!!! It was the MOST DRY CAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!! DRYEST!!!!!!!! DISGUSTING!!!! It was like attempting to cut into a sour dough bread with a butter knife!!!!!! As were the cupcakes!!!!!! Awful experience and awful quality!!!!!! I Will never recommend nor support this business ever again!!!!!!! All cakes went in the bin!!!! WHAT AN UTTER DISASTER!!!!!!!! If I could have give a negative rating, I would have!!!

I ordered a birthday cake for my sisters birthday. I asked for a all white cake with pink writing. The cake comes with blue mixed into the white. I call to ask why is the cake white and blue when I asked for all white. The cooky baker tells me because ALL cakes come with blue flowers like I'm stupid. You used a old cake and forgot to take off all the blue. If I order an all white cake, you make an all white cake. I didn't pay for a repurposed cake. Never again will I order from here.

Recently ordered a cake from Ubereats. I was so happy they actually had full cakes available. I was able to have them write something on the cake as well which i loved. I ordered candles with my cake and that didn't arrive. I asked for a Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. The cake looked absolutely beautiful. I loved it. The cream cheese frosting was NOT good at all. Tasted like horrible butter cream or something. The cake was good but the layers are thin so there's no missing the nasty frosting. I will give this place another try soon. Maybe try some of the smaller items or buy a pie or something. I'll def stay away from the cakes for now.

I went to this bakery on my roti run on Sunday. Tried to buy some items and told that they only accepted cash and EBT. Everyone fancy now but don't take debit cards? You take EBT but not credit cards? Cause you don’t wanna pay a fee? . Okay let me keep my money in this economic downturn. .
