What is worth choosing
For anyone visiting Queens Pita Bakery for the first time, the selection can be impressively vast, but there are several standout items that have earned rave reviews from local regulars. At the top of the list is their Challah. Described by many as the highlight of their Friday night dinners, the challah here is consistently praised for its perfect balance of sweetness and texture. It is the type of bread that demands to be the center of the meal, holding its shape while remaining incredibly soft on the inside. Whether you prefer the classic plain braid or one topped with seeds, you cannot go wrong with this staple.
The savory section is equally impressive, particularly the Burekas. These flaky, puff-pastry treats are filled with various ingredients such as potato, cheese, or spinach, and they make for an excellent breakfast or a quick lunch on the go. They are prepared with a traditional touch that honors Mediterranean baking styles, providing a satisfying crunch followed by a rich, savory filling. For those looking for something sweet to end a meal, the bakery's "chocolatey pound cake" (often found among their assorted loaf cakes) is a hidden gem. It is dense, moist, and intensely flavorful, making it a favorite for coffee pairings or as a treat for the kids.
If you happen to visit during the winter holiday season, the Sufganiyot (Chanukah donuts) are an absolute must-try. Unlike many places that offer overly complicated or heavy donuts, Queens Pita Bakery focuses on an airy, light dough that doesn't feel weighed down by oil. The Oreo and Nutella varieties come highly recommended by both staff and customers alike for their perfect filling-to-dough ratio. These donuts have quickly become a favorite in the neighborhood for their simple yet effective flavor profiles. No matter what you choose, the quality and care put into the baking at Queens Pita Bakery ensure that every visit to this Main Street institution is a delicious experience that keeps you coming back for more.

Honestly one of the best places to get challah, desserts and burekas. My dad always brings it for shabbat and its the highlight of our dinner. I have no idea what the name of this chocolatey pound cake was but it's one of the best I've ever eaten. So delicious.

I tried two types of their Chanukah donuts (sufganiyot) — Oreo and Nutella — which were recommended to me by the staff. They were delicious. They weren’t of the fancy, over-the-top variety you see in other stores. They were simple, tasty, and had a really great airy, light texture. There were many tasty flavors on display, but I would easily recommend those two. This easily has become one of my favorite sufganiyot.

I'm a born and raised Brooklynite. Chiffon on Ave P was been my go to my entire life. They closed during covid and I found myself bakery-less. Ive tried many different ones since. Im a bit of a snob when it comes to challah, sofganiyot, babka, and teiglach. I was never able to find anyone that could compete with Chiffon. Well...we have a winner here. I moved to Forest Hills 10 years ago. 5 years ago I no longer had Chiffon. There is no comparison in Queens at all to Queens Pita. Theres one other staple in Brooklyn, Korns, that is on par with both Chiffon and Queens Pita. But now that I live here and its so close, theres no need to go anywhere else. Challah - Exceptional Sofganiyot - Exceptional Babka - Exceptional Teiglach - First, it exists. Second, its very good. I've gotten many other items from this bakery as well. Rugelach, hamantashen, lindsor tarts, and others. Everything has been incredible. 5 stars across the board. I dont think atmosphere is relevant. If you need "atmosphere" in a bakery you potentially have missed the point. Get your goodies and get out so other people can get their goodies. Only thing I wish, that they took Amex. Other than that. Tremendous.

So stale! I bought a Tagelach yesterday for Yom Kippur and it was petrified! My guests couldn’t even pull off 1 dough ball. Even the chocolate mandel bread was as dry as rye. I’m so disappointed and have been a customer for many many years. If I didn’t live so far, I’d bring the items back.
