Moms Bakery Corporation Introduce
In the bustling heart of the Bronx, along the historic and wide-stretching Grand Concourse, sits Moms Bakery Corporation. For decades, this establishment has been a fixture of the Fordham and University Heights neighborhoods, serving a diverse community of New Yorkers who value traditional flavors and straightforward service. As a "cake shop" in one of the city's most densely populated areas, Moms Bakery has carved out a niche for itself by focusing on the staples of Caribbean and Latin American baking traditions, particularly those rooted in Dominican culture. For residents of the 10468 zip code, the shop is a familiar sight, often acting as a last-minute stop for a family dessert or the primary source for a milestone celebration cake.
The bakery market in New York is notoriously competitive, and Moms Bakery Corporation maintains its presence by leaning into a "no-nonsense" style that many locals associate with classic Bronx institutions. Walking into the shop, visitors are met with a functional, unpretentious environment that prioritizes the output of the ovens over modern decor. This is a place where the history of the neighborhood is felt; the bakery has been in operation for over 30 years, adapting to the changing face of the Grand Concourse while keeping its core recipes largely intact. While it has faced the challenges that come with long-term operation in an urban setting, it remains a go-to for many who seek specific textures and flavors that are hard to find in more commercialized, "chain" bakeries.
Location and Accessibility
Moms Bakery Corporation is situated at 2425 Grand Concourse #187, Bronx, NY 10468, USA. Its location on the Grand Concourse—one of the Bronx's most iconic thoroughfares—makes it incredibly easy to find. The bakery is part of a commercial strip that stays active throughout the day, benefiting from the heavy foot traffic generated by the nearby residential buildings and local retail shops. For those living in the Bronx, the Grand Concourse is the central nervous system of the borough, and having a bakery right on this strip ensures maximum visibility for locals.
Accessibility is one of the shop's strongest suits. For those utilizing public transportation, the bakery is exceptionally well-connected. It is located near several major subway stops, including the Fordham Rd station (served by the B and D lines) and the 182nd-183rd Sts station. Numerous bus lines, such as the Bx1 and Bx2, run directly along the Grand Concourse, stopping just steps away from the bakery's entrance. For those driving, paid street parking is available along the Concourse and side streets, though like most parts of New York, it requires a bit of patience during peak hours. The storefront is street-level and easily accessible for pedestrians, making it a convenient stop for a quick pickup during a daily commute.

- Signature Dominican Cakes: Known for the specific "bizcocho dominicano" style—a light, buttery sponge often paired with pineapple or guava fillings.

What is worth choosing
If you are planning a visit to Moms Bakery Corporation, there are several items that have defined their reputation over the years. The Tres Leches cake is frequently cited as a standout. Known for its perfect level of moisture and rich, milky flavor, it is a favorite for those who enjoy a classic Latin American dessert. Similarly, their flan is a traditional choice that offers a consistent, creamy texture that many regulars swear by. For those who enjoy a lighter sponge, the classic Dominican cake with pineapple filling is a staple that pairs exceptionally well with a cup of coffee.
However, when it comes to custom cakes, it is important to be very specific about your vision. The shop is known for a traditional approach, and while they can create beautiful, classic designs, clear communication is essential. If you have a specific color or frosting type in mind—such as chocolate frosting over a mousse base—it is highly recommended to double-check the order details with the staff and potentially provide written instructions. While some customers have found the custom ordering process to be a bit of a "wild card" in terms of exact design matches, those who stick to the shop’s traditional strengths—like their well-regarded Tres Leches and standard birthday sponges—often find exactly what they need for a local celebration. For a true taste of the Grand Concourse’s bakery scene, sticking to the classic, heritage-rich recipes is usually the best path to a delicious result.

this bakery quite literally ruined my birthday. the young man who took our orders was dismissive and rushing the whole time. we were there well within business hours; he was just in a rush to sit down and watch TV again. i asked for the cake on the left-chocolate frosting all over. and i received the one on the right. a chocolate mousse cake with ganache, which i specifically said i did NOT want. multiple times throughout ordering i specified "chocolate frosting, like this photo". he just continued waving me off and saying "yeah yeah, chocolate" so i guess they just take a vague idea of what you want and then take a cake out of the fridge to sell you, all for full custom price. please don't waste your money here because they literally just do not listen or care what you want. i'm so upset. my birthday is ruined

Do not go here if you want a custom cake. I showed them a picture of what I wanted, they said ok, and they still gave me whatever design THEY wanted. I specifically asked for a plain pink cake and they still put the trimmings with icing. How is it better to do MORE work that i DIDNT ask for? Don’t waste your time telling them the theme of your cake because they will do whatever they want and take your money anyway. Just go to Sal & Dom’s or Conti’s or even Artuso. This place is not worth the headache.

I took my friend here to purchase a cake for my daughter’s baby shower. It was not only beautiful, but tasted delicious. The crowd was happy with the taste. They went crazy over the beautiful job they did in creating what we asked for. Thank you. I’ve been purchasing cakes from here for over 30 years.

I don’t care about the grumpy lady. She nice with me sometimes ,but I catch her bad mood too. The cake will make your mood! 😊 I only take it from here the Tres Leches! That’s my favorite sweets, second the flan, nobody makes better then the Moms bakery! So put the poker face on and grab your piece of cake worth to try! Cash only !

I used to love this place and have been coming here for years. I used to give good tips until the Mexican lady started giving me attitude. She has no customer service skills, and sometimes leaves me standing there waiting. She doesn’t acknowledge you or be nice enough to say she’ll be with you in a moment. She even sometimes prepares my order without me even telling her if I wanted something else and gets mad at me when I tell her that’s not what I wanted. It's very unprofessional and nasty. She picks and chooses who she wants to serve, which is sad to say. Although I love the coffee, they will definitely lose my business. Today put the nail in the coffin after she took two people's orders that walked in after me. She also stated that the coffee went up in price from $2.50 to $3.00 and now $3.50. To make matters worse, there was also a roach that was lingering, and another customer killed it right in front of me.
