Russo Bakery Introduce
For residents of the Queens neighborhoods of Ridgewood and Glendale, the search for an authentic Italian-American bakery experience often leads directly to the doors of Russo Bakery. Situated in a region of New York known for its deep-rooted European culinary traditions, Russo Bakery stands as a vibrant link to the "old school" style of baking that is increasingly rare in the modern era. While its address is listed as Flushing, New York, locals know it as a cornerstone of the Glendale/Ridgewood border, where the aroma of yeast, sugar, and toasted almonds greets passersby daily. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker or a newcomer to the area, stepping into Russo Bakery is like stepping back into a simpler time, where quality is measured by the crunch of a crust and the sweetness of a cream filling.
Russo Bakery has earned its reputation as a "neighborhood gem" by maintaining a steadfast commitment to traditional methods. In a city that is always chasing the newest food trend, there is something deeply comforting about a bakery that prioritizes the fundamentals. From the polished glass display cases filled with colorful Italian cookies to the neatly stacked loaves of sesame-seeded bread, every element of the shop reflects a dedication to artisanal craft. For the local community, it is more than just a place to buy a morning roll; it is a destination for celebration, where families have ordered their milestone cakes for generations. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic, often described as having a "retro charm" that makes it a pleasant escape from the bustling New York City streets outside.
Location and Accessibility
Russo Bakery is conveniently located at 69-11 Myrtle Ave, Flushing, NY 11385, USA. This location on Myrtle Avenue is a primary thoroughfare connecting several key Queens neighborhoods, making it highly accessible for residents of Glendale, Ridgewood, and Maspeth. For New York commuters, the bakery is positioned along several major bus routes, including the Q55, which runs directly along Myrtle Avenue, and the Q29, which serves the nearby area. Its location in a walkable part of Queens means that many local customers can easily incorporate a visit into their daily routines.
For those traveling by car, Myrtle Avenue offers typical street parking, though like most popular spots in New York, the busiest hours of the weekend may require a short walk. The bakery’s presence on a well-lit and active commercial strip ensures that it is a safe and inviting destination at all times of the day. The shop opens as early as 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM daily, catering to the "early bird" crowd of commuters heading toward the subway or local workers starting their shifts. For those who prefer to enjoy their treats at home, the bakery is also well-integrated into local delivery networks, ensuring that their famous cakes and breads can reach your doorstep across the borough.

What is worth choosing
When visiting Russo Bakery, one item that is absolutely worth choosing is the Tres Leches cake with strawberries and peaches. This specific recommendation has been highlighted by local patrons as an "absolute hit" for events. The cake manages to be incredibly moist and rich without being overly heavy, and the addition of fresh fruit provides a bright, acidic balance that makes it a crowd favorite. It is the type of cake that disappears within minutes of being served, leaving guests asking exactly where it was purchased. For anyone hosting a bridal shower or a graduation party in Queens, this cake is a reliable and impressive choice.
For those looking for a daily treat or a taste of traditional Italy, the sfogliatelle riccie is a must-try. This pastry is a masterclass in texture, featuring a signature clamshell shape with dozens of paper-thin, crunchy ridges that give way to a dense, aromatic citrus-ricotta center. It is best enjoyed with a warm cup of coffee from their in-house station. Additionally, don't overlook their variety of freshly baked Italian breads. Whether it is a simple hero roll for a sandwich or a large loaf for Sunday dinner, the quality of the "old school" hearth-style baking is evident in every bite. Choosing Russo’s means choosing a piece of New York’s living history—one that still values the personal touch and the time-honored recipes that have defined the neighborhood for decades. Would you like me to help you look up their current holiday specials or perhaps provide a list of their different cookie varieties for your next visit?

Wow! What a great find for the neighborhood. I was looking for bakeries in the area to get a cake for an event and found this gem! The staff was so friendly when I asked for their recommendation on their best cakes. They suggested the tres leches with strawberries and peaches, and let me tell you — it was an absolute hit at the event! Everyone kept asking me where I got the cake, and I was happily telling them Russo’s. I will definitely be coming back! P.S. I would’ve taken a picture of the cake, but there wasn’t any left 😭

Old school Italian bakery in the Glendale area. Great variety of feshly baked beead, pastry, biscotti and some imported italian food. Great retro atmosphere that gives a nice charm. Recommended the sfogliatelle riccie.

We will never be using this bakery again. Look at the photos of what we ordered and what we received. Then watch the video of my interaction with one of the owner’s Sonia. Horrible, dismissive attitude and even more horrible looking cake. To begin a conversation with a customer by blaming them would show that your claim at having 40 years in this business is complete joke. Your customer service is as amateur as the cake you gave us. Both the owner Sonia and the employee Arianne who took my order and deposit should truly be ashamed of the way you both handled this. If it wasn’t for the fact that my nieces birthday was 2 hours from the time we arrived for the cake, I NEVER would have walked out with it. As other ones star reviews have mentioned, this bakery is not only un-welcoming but intentionally dismissive. Save your money as go somewhere that people care about the product they sell.

This place is wonderful and the service is very patient and friendly. I see a lot of people come for the bread but I went for the cookies and a cake for my birthday. I ended up getting a chocolate mousse cake awesome! , the Italian cookies have different fillings in them an my daughter loves the canolie.

My husband and I ecuadorian, so for us is very hard to find a bread that we actually like. We're grateful to have this bakery near our home, we love their bread and the desserts, specially the red velvet cake.
