New Warsaw Bakery Inc - Silver Bell Products Introduce
In the quiet, residential pockets of Glendale, Queens, where the echoes of New York’s European immigrant history still linger in the architecture and the local shops, there exists a place that bread connoisseurs describe as a "hidden gem." New Warsaw Bakery Inc, now home to the legendary Silver Bell Products, is a cornerstone of old-world baking traditions in New York City. For those living in the region, this isn’t just a place to buy a loaf of bread; it is a direct link to a culinary lineage that stretches back over 140 years. Founded in 1882, the Silver Bell legacy began in Williamsburg before eventually merging with the New Warsaw Bakery to continue its mission: providing authentic, hearth-baked European breads to a city that never loses its appetite for quality.
For a New Yorker, the scent of fresh yeast and sourdough rising from a brick oven is a sensory time machine. New Warsaw Bakery Inc operates with a professional focus on wholesale and retail excellence, yet it maintains the intimate feel of a neighborhood secret. It is the kind of establishment where the quality of the product is prioritized over flashy modern marketing. While many industrial bakeries have switched to rapid-rise yeasts and chemical additives, the team here sticks to the "labor of love" approach—aging sours in supervised vats and using brick ovens to achieve that elusive, thick, glossy crust that defines a true Lithuanian or Polish loaf. Whether you are a "displaced New Yorker" returning to the city to fill your luggage with rye or a local Glendale resident looking for the perfect babka, this bakery remains a vital part of the Queens food landscape.
Location and Accessibility
New Warsaw Bakery Inc - Silver Bell Products is located at 76-01 77th Ave, Glendale, NY 11385, USA. Situated in the heart of Queens, the bakery is strategically placed to serve the surrounding communities of Glendale, Middle Village, and Ridgewood. For local New Yorkers, accessibility is a hallmark of the shop's appeal. It is easily reachable for those navigating the area by car, with the surrounding residential streets offering a more manageable pace than the frantic commercial hubs of Manhattan. For those utilizing public transit, the bakery is accessible via local Queens bus routes that connect to the broader MTA subway network. Its location in Glendale is particularly significant as the neighborhood has long been a hub for European-American communities who value traditional sourdoughs and authentic deli pairings. The storefront serves as an outlet where the public can directly access products that are otherwise distributed wholesale to the finest delis and specialty markets across the five boroughs.

What is worth choosing
When you visit New Warsaw Bakery Inc, the absolute priority should be the Silver Bell Rye Bread. For a truly authentic experience, the Farmer’s Rye—available in light or dark—is a masterclass in sourdough baking. The dark rye, in particular, is celebrated for its moist, dense interior and a crust that is both chewy and glossy. It is worth choosing a whole loaf if you plan on serving a crowd, or even one of the smaller one-pounders for personal use. Many local patrons suggest that these breads are best enjoyed as a base for hearty sandwiches or simply toasted with a thick layer of butter.
In the sweets department, the babkas are "outrageous" and highly worth choosing. The Chocolate Babka is a perennial favorite, featuring rich swirls of dark chocolate and a soft, enriched dough that manages to be indulgent without being cloyingly sweet. For something slightly different, the Cherry Cheese Babka offers a tangy, creamy contrast that makes it a perfect accompaniment to morning coffee. While the bakery does offer online shipping, local New Yorkers are encouraged to visit the Glendale storefront in person to ensure the peak freshness that only a brick-oven bakery can provide. By choosing New Warsaw Bakery, you are not just buying food; you are supporting a 144-year-old New York institution that refuses to compromise on the skill and time required to make "real" bread.

This place is a hidden gem. (Its almost like they want it that way) Their pastries (sweets) are outrageous. The food is amazing. They also have a lot of other European products. I dont know how I stumbled upon this place but I'm glad I did.

I ordered 2 babka’s, an almond strudel, pumpernickel and rye bread for the holiday. My mistake was that I thought I was ordering directly from Silver Bell. After a week, the package arrived. Unfortunately, the products were old and dry. I tried to use some but threw the remainder in the garbage!! Spent a lot of money for nothing! Will be more careful next time!

This place is a European Bread and Bakery. The bread is amazing and comes in gigantic loaves. Putting it simply the bread is amazing. The bakery is right there and it is pretty huge and inside the bakery is an outlet store where you can buy the fresh bread. Use your google maps to find the place because it is in a hard to find corner of Middle Village. Their dark rye bread is moist and delicious. They have other sweet breads and pastries. I journed from Bay Ridge and was not disappointed. Hours are limited so check their hours before going.
