Shero Cakes Introduce
In the rapidly transforming landscape of Long Island City, where modern glass towers meet industrial charm, local foodies are constantly on the lookout for the next hidden gem. Shero Cakes, a specialized cake shop located in this bustling Queens neighborhood, has positioned itself as a unique destination for those seeking artistic desserts and convenient lunch options. For residents of New York City, particularly those living in the 11101 zip code, the presence of a localized, independent bakery offers a welcome reprieve from the monolithic commercial chains that often dominate the transit hubs. Shero Cakes aims to capture the essence of modern LIC: chic, compact, and offering a blend of flavors that reflect the diverse cultural tapestry of New York.
The shop operates with a dual identity that is common in the competitive New York City food scene. While its name highlights its primary specialty—cakes—it also serves as a neighborhood deli, catering to the lunch crowd with fresh sandwiches and quick bites. This versatility is essential for a business located in a high-density residential and commercial area like Long Island City. Whether you are a creative professional grabbing a quick sandwich between meetings or a local resident searching for a standout dessert for a weekend gathering, Shero Cakes provides a localized solution. The atmosphere is frequently described as "nice and tiny," perched on a street corner where it serves as a quiet observer of the neighborhood’s daily hustle.
Location and Accessibility
Shero Cakes is conveniently located at 41-04 27th St Store S1, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA. This location is strategically placed just north of the Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza transit hubs, making it exceptionally accessible for commuters and locals alike. For those navigating the New York City Subway, the shop is within a very short walking distance of the 7, N, W, E, M, and R train lines. This level of connectivity is a major advantage for New Yorkers, allowing for a quick detour during a morning or evening commute without significantly going off-path.
The shop’s physical presence on a street corner makes it highly visible to pedestrians. While parking in Long Island City is notoriously difficult—a common trait for most of the city—the shop’s proximity to residential complexes like Jackson Park and Alta LIC means that many customers can reach the storefront on foot. The "tiny" footprint of the shop is typical for many artisanal establishments in the area, focusing on a grab-and-go model that fits perfectly into the fast-paced lifestyle of the typical LIC resident. The entryway is at street level, ensuring that it remains accessible for individuals with strollers or those who may have mobility concerns.

What is worth choosing
When choosing what to order at Shero Cakes, it is worth considering the mixed experiences reported by the local community. For those seeking a savory lunch, the grilled chicken sandwich is a strong contender. Local feedback suggests that the bread is the star of the show—fresh, crunchy, and capable of holding together a variety of fillings. When ordering, it may be worth specifying your preference for the "veggie-to-protein" ratio, as the shop tends to be quite generous with carrots and other greens, which can sometimes overshadow the chicken. Requesting cilantro and a non-spicy preparation is a popular way to enjoy a clean, flavorful meal that feels homemade.
On the dessert side, Shero Cakes is known for its bold visual style. However, customers should manage their expectations regarding flavor profiles. For instance, their "purple" strawberry vanilla cake is highly decorative but has been noted by some visitors to be very frost-heavy, with a texture that is firm rather than sponge-like. While the visual appeal is undeniable for photography and social media, those who prefer a traditional, light, and airy cake texture might find the frosting-forward style to be a bit overwhelming. If you are a fan of rich, dense frosting and artistic presentation, these specialty cakes are exactly what you are looking for.
Ultimately, Shero Cakes represents the adventurous spirit of Long Island City’s dining scene. It is a place where you can find a crunchy sandwich for your lunch break and an eye-popping dessert for your evening celebration in one visit. As with many small, independent shops in New York, the beauty is in the specifics—finding that perfect sandwich-to-veggie balance or the exact flavor of frosting that hits the spot. For anyone navigating the streets of LIC, this "gem on the corner" is certainly worth a visit to experience the local flavor for yourself.

I would’ve loved to like this, but it simply wasn’t good. This purple one was supposed to be strawberry vanilla, but there’s nothing inside and it just tastes like frosting. The texture is hard like frosting too. After a couple bites, no one wanted to eat more. I would’ve preferred to buy from a generic cake store instead.

I requested a custom cake order for nieces birthday and it came out almost similar to our photo reference. This was my first time ordering here and I didn’t know what to expect but 2 cakes and cupcakes turned out pretty and also tasted so good. Whoever took my order and communicated throughout was also super nice.

Terrible Experience – Completely Ruined My Birthday I truly regret ordering from Shero Cakes, especially after being a customer since 2021. I found a photo online of a Twinkle Twinkle cake and asked Shero Cakes if they could make the same one. I clearly told them I would provide the Popmart ornament myself. They agreed — but what I ended up receiving was shocking. The cake I got looked NOTHING like the sample photo. It was just a plain, unfinished yellow block (see photo), completely missing the decorations and sparkle. To make matters worse: The cake was already cracked on the sides before my actual birthday on Sept. 4 (pickup was Sept. 3 evening). They never told me the cake would be made with buttercream. I expected soft whipped cream and fluffy sponge cake, but what I got was a dense, greasy buttercream block that didn’t even taste good. After I messaged them about the issue, they completely ignored me — no response at all since Sept. 3. I had to rush order decorations on Uber the night before my birthday and decorate the cake myself just to make it look somewhat decent. They charged me $135 for a cake that honestly wouldn’t even be worth $50. The quality, communication, and service were beyond disappointing. My birthday experience was completely ruined because of this, and I’m heartbroken this happened with a bakery I used to trust. Never ordering from here again.
