What is worth choosing
When visiting Sweet Ambateno Bakery, the clear standout choice is their selection of traditional Spanish-style cakes and soft breads. If you are looking for a celebratory centerpiece, their custom cakes are highly recommended for being "really good" and "visually stunning," often incorporating light, airy sponges and creamy frostings that are typical of Latin American patisseries. For those who enjoy a variety, picking up a large assortment of their smaller sweet treats is the best way to experience the breadth of the bakery’s talent—many visitors find that buying a "lot of sweets" is surprisingly affordable here compared to other local spots.
For a more casual treat, their empanadas and soft rolls are worth choosing as a reliable snack while you explore the village. While some customers have noted that the coffee cake can be quite moist or "mushy," many others find the softness of the doughs to be a comforting and authentic trait of this style of baking. It is worth choosing this shop specifically if you value a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere and want to support a local business that serves the community with passion. Spanish-style bakery with super low prices. A good variety of baked items, mostly soft, nothing with a crust, unremarkable. The coffee cake was mushy and wet on the bottom. Not sure what happened there. Everything else was fine.

I was just there today. I came up for the sleepy hollow events all the way from Maryland. I wanted to bring some baked goods home to my family and this bakery was the one I found. Cute little shop and the cakes I had tried tonight were really good! I don't understand some of these comments because I personally thought the staff was fantastic. Yes language barriers existed mildly but to be completely fair I don't know Spanish and I walked into their shop. I wish people would be less ignorant. I communicated what I needed clearly and I was helped promptly with a smile. Thank you guys for being patient with me because I did buy a lot of sweets and don't let the less kind civilians and tourists get you down! (I worked customer service for years) your shop was very cute, staff is friendly, and the baked goods were good and fresh. Thanks guys! :)

What a hidden gem!! Ecuador knows how to do baked goods let me tell you. The cheese breads, all of them. Guava, dulce de leche, and chocolate baked into soft fluffy bread. Great chew. Even better toasted. And their colada morada which is a hot berry and corn drink is what dreams are made of. Thick and warm but super fruity. Lovely ladies at the counter. Use tongs and a basket and pick what you like. I regret not getting more!! Thank you
