Runcible Spoon Bakery Introduce
In the heart of the Lower Hudson Valley, nestled within the artistic and historic village of Nyack, New York, sits a culinary landmark that has been warming the souls of locals for over three decades. Runcible Spoon Bakery, located on the bustling North Broadway, is far more than just a place to grab a quick muffin. It is a community institution, a "third space" where the aroma of high-grade European butter and Belgian chocolate mingles with the lively chatter of neighbors and the focused energy of commuters. For New Yorkers who take their baked goods seriously, "The Spoon" represents the gold standard of small-batch, artisanal baking in Rockland County.
The bakery prides itself on a "classic meets modern" philosophy. While it stays true to the foundational techniques of French and European pastry—using only premium ingredients like locally sourced dairy and avoiding shortening or hydrogenated oils—it also embraces modern interpretations. This includes unique culinary influences inspired by the Korean-American heritage of the mother-daughter duo, Kim and Hannah, who lead the bakery today. This blend of generational recipes and contemporary flair has earned the establishment a feature in the New York Times and a dedicated following that extends well beyond the village borders, drawing in cyclists from New York City and travelers from across the tri-state area.
Location and Accessibility
Runcible Spoon Bakery is perfectly situated at 37 N Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960. North Broadway is one of Nyack's most iconic streets, known for its proximity to the Hudson River and its eclectic mix of Victorian architecture and modern storefronts. The bakery’s location makes it an ideal stop for those strolling through the village or those heading down to Memorial Park for a riverside picnic. For the weekend warrior crowd, the bakery is a famous waypoint for cyclists trekking up from the George Washington Bridge, offering a much-needed refueling station in a bike-friendly environment.
Accessibility is a key feature of this local gem. While Nyack is a quintessential walking village, the bakery is easily reached by car via the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) and the Mario Cuomo Bridge. For those arriving on two wheels, the bakery provides convenient bicycle racks right out front. The shop itself is designed to be airy and open, welcoming customers into a light-filled space that feels both "chill" and professionally run. For pet owners, the bakery offers a handful of sidewalk tables where leashed furry friends can join their owners for an outdoor treat, provided the weather in our beautiful Hudson Valley is cooperating.

What is worth choosing
If you are a first-time visitor to the Runcible Spoon, your journey must begin with one of their "Runcible Specialties." The Morning Bun and the Sticky Buns are non-negotiable classics that have defined the bakery's reputation for decades. For those who enjoy a modern twist on a classic, the Brown Butter Miso Chocolate Chip cookie offers a sophisticated profile that perfectly balances salt and sweet. If you are stopping in for something savory, the "California Sunrise Omelette" or one of their hot-pressed paninis—specifically the Turkey Cranberry & Brie wrap—are highly recommended by the local lunch crowd.
For the beverage connoisseur, the specialty lattes are worth the visit alone. Whether you opt for a classic espresso or a house-made Earl Grey Milk Tea, the quality of the brew matches the excellence of the food. Ultimately, choosing Runcible Spoon means choosing a piece of Nyack history. Whether you are grabbing a quick "Fatboy" (bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit) to go or settling in for a long afternoon with a pot of tea and a scone, you are experiencing the very best of what the New York region's independent bakery scene has to offer. It is a place that celebrates the slow art of baking in a fast-paced world, and it remains a "must-stop" for anyone in the 845 area code.

I like this place a lot. Very chill, and many choices. You want coffee and sweets, they have it. You want something savory? They got hot and cold sandwiches. The staff is so nice too. Great for a laid back Sunday morning.

Really nice coffee, good tea selection, nice selection of pastries although I didn't try any.

Great pitstop! Open at 7 which is very convenient for early morning rides. The best banana pudding ever. Btw Can I be your pudding ambassador?😂

Overall, this place was mediocre. The workers were very nice, but they seemed to not know what they were doing. I had to tell them three times that I wanted a cup of water before they gave it to me. Although there were not that many people there, they were very slow at preparing orders (it took them about 15 minutes to get through 4 customers’ orders). I ordered the #4 sandwich, and it was not good or tasty in any way. The floors were also not cleaned, and there were scraps of trash on all of the tables. I personally would not recommend getting food here or coming here at all.

This bakery is very beautiful and the attendant was super nice! Why am I giving two stars? Because I bought some Valentines desserts, specifically cake pops and cookies, and they were HORRIBLE. The cake pops were SO DRY AND SANDY TEXTURE, plus the flavor, was not good at all. The cookie, hard as a rock. And I paid 20 bucks for this.
