51st Bakery & Cafe Introduce
In the heart of the ever-evolving neighborhood of Long Island City, 51st Bakery & Cafe has established itself as a cornerstone of the local culinary scene. For New Yorkers who appreciate the intersection of high-quality ingredients and a relaxed, neighborhood vibe, this establishment offers a welcome escape from the glass towers of Hunter's Point. Managed with a focus on artisanal craft, the cafe has earned a reputation as one of the best bakeries of its style in the area. It is a place where the community gathers for more than just a quick caffeine fix; it is a destination for those who seek out thoughtful, chef-driven light fare and freshly baked goods that reflect the diverse and sophisticated palate of Queens.
The atmosphere at 51st Bakery & Cafe strikes a balance between a bustling city eatery and a quaint village retreat. While many modern cafes in the New York region lean heavily into a minimalist or industrial aesthetic, this spot retains a warm, lived-in feel. Local patrons often note that while it provides WiFi, the energy of the space is more aligned with a "restaurant cafe" style than a sterile co-working hub. This distinction makes it an ideal location for a long brunch, a catch-up session with friends, or a quiet solo lunch. The service is consistently described as good and friendly, further cementing its status as a reliable neighborhood staple where the staff makes an effort to ensure every visitor feels at home.
What truly defines 51st Bakery & Cafe is its commitment to sourcing and quality. By partnering with iconic New York institutions like Balthazar for their breads and pastries and Murrays Cheese for their dairy needs, the cafe ensures that every bite meets the high expectations of a local New Yorker. Furthermore, the inclusion of Devocion Coffee—roasted nearby in Williamsburg—highlights their dedication to supporting local artisans while providing a top-tier beverage program. For a resident of Long Island City, knowing that your morning croissant or your lunch sandwich is made with the city's finest components provides a sense of reliability and luxury in the daily routine.

Best bakery of this style in the area. The mushroom sandwich is a big winner and don't even get me started on the cheese and garlic scone. Nice seating in the back too. Keep it up!

There’s WiFi, but I wouldn’t recommend this place for working. It seems more like a restaurant cafe style place. The ventilation was very poor. The service was good though and the carrot cake was absolutely delicious.

Omg I just have one thing to say. I’m pregnant and came here for the first time today. I got a chocolate chip cookie thinking oh nice sweet treat. The cookie was so good I’ve had 4 total today. This is the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve had in my entire life and I can’t wait to stop by this weekend to pick up a ton to keep at home! Never had anything this good, thank you for making the best cookie ever!!!

Lots of hot food options. Variety of pastry options. Latte I had was great. Staff are kind and efficient. Very stroller-friendly - space is big enough for parents to come in with them. During my visit multiple parents had kids or babies in strollers with them. Others were reading peacefully at a table. Great place to grab a drink/snack and relax. Overall cute spot and would recommend!

Overall best coffee shop in the neighborhood. Very friendly staff. Coffee is good. All the baked good are delicious. All the food taste really fresh. It is definitely on the more expensive side, but doesn't feel like you're getting food made last night.
