Apollo Bagels Introduce
For New Yorkers, the bagel is not just a breakfast item; it is a cultural icon, a weekend ritual, and a subject of intense local pride. In a city where every corner claims to have the "best," it takes something truly extraordinary to cut through the noise. Enter Apollo Bagels, located in the vibrant East Village. This isn't your average neighborhood deli. Apollo Bagels has quickly ascended to legendary status among locals and savvy visitors alike by reimagining what a bagel can be. Specializing in a sourdough-based process, they offer a product that stands apart from the puffy, doughy iterations found elsewhere, focusing instead on a sophisticated crust, a chewy interior, and a complex flavor profile that has captured the attention of the city's most discerning foodies.
The rise of Apollo Bagels is a testament to the power of craftsmanship. In an era where many establishments prioritize volume, Apollo leans into the artisanal. The aesthetic of the shop reflects this philosophy—it is clean, "picture-perfect," and focused. Whether you discovered them through word-of-mouth in the neighborhood or saw their meticulously crafted sandwiches trending on social media, the consensus remains the same: the experience lives up to the hype. It is a place where the simple combination of flour, water, salt, and time is elevated to an art form, providing what many locals now consider to be the most memorable bite in Manhattan.
Location and Accessibility
Apollo Bagels is centrally located at 242 E 10th St, New York, NY 10003, USA. Nestled in the heart of the East Village, the shop sits on a charming block between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue. This location places it perfectly within one of New York’s most historic and energetic neighborhoods, surrounded by a mix of classic brownstones, trendy boutiques, and legendary nightlife spots. For residents of the 10003 zip code, it is a convenient morning destination that embodies the spirit of the village.
From a transit perspective, Apollo Bagels is highly accessible for those coming from across the city. It is within easy walking distance of several major subway stations, including the L train at 1st Avenue and the 6, R, and W lines at Astor Place and 8th Street-NYU. Additionally, the M15 and M14 bus lines run nearby, making it a simple trip for those traveling North-South or East-West. While the shop itself is quite intimate with very few spots to eat inside, its proximity to local parks like Tompkins Square Park—just a few blocks away—provides the perfect opportunity for a "New York style" breakfast outdoors. Even on a snowy Sunday morning, you can expect to see a line stretching down the sidewalk, a clear indicator of the destination's popularity.

What is worth choosing
If you are making the trip to Apollo Bagels, the smoked salmon sandwich on an everything bagel is an absolute essential. This isn't your standard deli lox; the salmon is remarkably tender, smokey, and perfectly seasoned, complemented by cream cheese that tastes significantly better and richer than anything you would find in a grocery store. The addition of capers, onion, and fresh dill creates a masterpiece of balance. For many, it is simply the best bagel sandwich they have ever had.
For those looking for something a bit more minimalist but equally impressive, the sesame bagel with cream cheese and tomato is "perfection" in its simplest form. This sandwich features a drizzle of high-quality olive oil, salt, and pepper, which elevates the fresh tomato and the toasted sesame seeds to a new level. Don't forget to pair your selection with their freshly-squeezed orange juice, which is frequently noted for its fragrance and natural sweetness. While you might have to eat your meal on a nearby bench or take it to the park due to limited indoor seating, the outstanding texture and flavor of the sourdough bagel ensure that the experience is worth every bit of effort. Apollo Bagels truly lives up to the hype, providing a modern New York classic that every local should try at least once.
In a city that prides itself on its bagels, Apollo has managed to do the impossible: they have offered something new that still feels authentically New York. It is a destination that rewards patience in line with a "tasty bite" that stays with you long after the meal is over. Whether you are a sourdough enthusiast or just someone looking for a better breakfast, Apollo Bagels on 10th Street is a cornerstone of the East Village that you cannot afford to miss.

BEST BAGEL OF MY LIFE!!!!!! I found this place after researching countless bagel places to visit on Tiktok, and the clean, picture-perfect look of these bagel sandwiches caught my eye. I knew I had to visit, and I can surely say that this was the most memorable and tasty bite of my entire trip to NY. To start, the lineup was long but moved quickly. The employees at the cashier were helpful with recommendations about the menu, and I ended up getting the sandwich with smoked salmon on an everything bagel. There were very few spots to eat inside of the restaurant so we had to find a place to eat outside, which was inconvenient. I'm sure it would have tasted even better fresh rather than 45 min later, when we found a spot to sit down and eat. Onto the taste, the texture of the bagel was outstanding. It was chewier and a little tough, but had the perfect bite. The cream cheese was also delicious --- I couldn't tell what made it so good but it tasted better than regular grocery store cream cheese. Finally, the salmon was amazingly tender, smokey, and seasoned. The entire sandwich was complimented extremely well by the slivers of onion, the capers, and the dill. My friend got the tomato bagel, and similarly, it was outstanding and worthy of a try. Finally, the freshly-squeezed orange juice was fragrant and sweet. All in all, the bagels at Apollo Bagels were masterpieces and I would highly recommend them over any other touristy bagel joint in NYC.

We waited about 20 minutes in line on a snowy Sunday morning. The line was long, but moved quick and efficiently. We ordered a sesame with cream cheee, and another sesame with cream cheese with tomato. The Sesame with tomato was perfection - it had a little drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper and typing that out makes my mouth water. Apollo bagels for sure lives up to the hype! The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful.

Apollo Bagels is excellent, and this location truly stands out. I have also been to the Greenwich location, which is very good, but the vibe, service, and overall experience at this location are on another level. I ordered the bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, red onion, and dill, and it was outstanding. The bagel had the perfect chew, the smoked salmon was fresh and flavorful, and the balance of cream cheese, capers, onion, and dill was spot on. Every bite tasted high quality and well thought out. I also had an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, which was just as good. The seasoning was generous, the scallion cream cheese was smooth and flavorful, and the bagel was baked perfectly. Along with that, I had a black coffee and a ginger lemonade. The coffee was clean and strong, and the ginger lemonade was refreshing with a real ginger kick, not overly sweet. The staff here is friendly, professional, and efficient. The space is clean, modern, and well run. This location sets a very high standard. Highly recommended.

One of the best spots to stop by on a weekend morning! I went to the Apollo Bagel in East Village, and honestly — everything was perfect. It’s not easy to find bagels this fresh, thoughtful, and full of character right in the heart of Manhattan. I tried the Everything Bagel with salmon, the butter & jam bagel, the white fish bagel, and even the tomato bagel — and every single one of them was incredible. The ingredients are unbelievably fresh and high quality; you can taste the difference in every bite. The vibe inside is just right — great energy, great coffee, and the music playlist fits the New York mood perfectly. Reed and Dan were super kind, attentive, and full of positive energy. Service and atmosphere were both spot-on. I’ve been here before, I came again, and I’ll definitely keep coming back. This place has easily become one of my favorite bagel spots in the city — and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know. 🥯☕🎶

Surely the best bagel I had in my life (I didn’t have many but this one was basically perfect). I had the tomato and cream cheese one, with the all-grains bread. The bread was perfectly crunchy, the tomatoes were well seasoned and there was the right amount of cheese. The service was quick, the place is decorated in a minimal way.
