Andre's Hungarian Bakery Introduce
For those seeking the nostalgic flavors of Central Europe in the heart of New York City, Andre's Hungarian Bakery in Forest Hills stands as a cherished destination. Established decades ago, this family-owned institution has dedicated itself to preserving the art of Hungarian baking, offering a window into the rich culinary heritage of Budapest. In a city where trendy dessert spots come and go, Andre's has maintained its presence on Queens Boulevard by sticking to traditional recipes and handcrafted techniques. It is a place where the scent of toasted walnuts, sweet apricot jam, and yeast-leavened dough greets every visitor, providing a warm and inviting escape from the urban hustle of Queens.
The bakery is widely recognized by New York locals for its commitment to authenticity. While many modern bakeries rely on automated processes, Andre's Hungarian Bakery continues to emphasize the human touch. This dedication to craft is what has built their reputation among the diverse communities of Forest Hills and Rego Park. Whether you are a first-generation immigrant looking for a taste of home or a native New Yorker exploring international cuisines, the bakery offers a professional yet friendly atmosphere. The staff is known for their patience and kindness, often helping customers navigate the traditional names of Hungarian delicacies, ensuring that every guest leaves with exactly the treat they were looking for.
Location and Accessibility
Andre's Hungarian Bakery is conveniently located at 100-28 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375, USA. Situated on one of the most iconic thoroughfares in the borough of Queens, the bakery is exceptionally easy to find. Its position on Queens Boulevard places it in a vibrant commercial strip, surrounded by local shops and eateries, making it a perfect stop for residents running errands or commuters heading home. For many New Yorkers, the "Forest Hills" designation is synonymous with high-quality dining and specialty food shops, and Andre's is a cornerstone of that reputation.
Accessibility is a major advantage for this location. For those utilizing the New York City Subway, the bakery is just a short walk from the 67th Avenue station, which is served by the M and R trains. It is also within reasonable walking distance from the Forest Hills-71st Avenue hub (E, F, M, R trains). Numerous MTA bus lines, including the Q60 which runs along Queens Boulevard, stop nearby, providing seamless transit options from across the borough. For those who prefer to drive, there is metered street parking available along the boulevard and nearby side streets. Furthermore, the bakery offers shipping services via FedEx for those living further away, though there are specific order minimums and shipping fees associated with this service to ensure the products arrive safely across the New York region and beyond.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Andre's Hungarian Bakery, there are several standout items that have earned the loyalty of the Queens community. The rugelach is perhaps their most famous offering; available in both regular and sugar-free versions, it is praised for its flaky, buttery dough and rich fillings of raspberry or apricot. For those looking for a savory option, the cheese pogacha—a traditional Hungarian savory biscuit—is a "standout favorite" that provides a perfect salty balance to the sweeter menu items. These are excellent for morning meetings or as a snack while walking through Forest Hills.
For more traditional tastes, the fruit-filled pastries, particularly the raspberry and apricot varieties, are consistently delicious and exceed expectations in terms of both texture and flavor. However, it is important to note that traditional items like "beigli" (walnut or poppy seed rolls) are made in a very specific old-world style; while many love them, those used to a more commercial, modern American interpretation of these rolls may find the dense, traditional Hungarian textures different. Despite occasional variations in individual preferences regarding the beigli, the overwhelming consensus from the local community and corporate clients is that the quality, service, and overall experience at Andre's are outstanding. Choosing Andre's Hungarian Bakery means supporting a local business that values its staff, its heritage, and its customers, making it a premier choice for anyone in the New York region seeking an authentic taste of Europe.
In conclusion, Andre's Hungarian Bakery is a vital part of the Forest Hills culinary fabric. By maintaining high standards of quality and a deep respect for Hungarian baking traditions, they offer an experience that is increasingly rare in the modern world. Whether you are grabbing a single rugelach or coordinating a large event for your company, Andre's delivers with a level of care and expertise that truly represents the best of local Queens businesses.

We recently placed a large order for our company town hall event, and Andre’s Bakery absolutely exceeded our expectations. Everything was delicious! From the raspberry and apricot pastries to both the sugar‑free and regular rugelach, and the cheese pogacha, which was a standout favorite. A huge thank you to Eric, who truly went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. He even came into the shop earlier than usual to ensure our order was perfectly fresh and ready on time. The communication throughout the process was seamless, and the entire team treated me with such kindness and patience — even when I definitely mispronounced a few of the treat names 😊 lol The quality, service, and overall experience were outstanding. We received so many compliments from our team, and I can’t wait to work with Andre’s Bakery again. Highly recommend!

Andre's Bakery only delivers by FEDEX for $25 and you have to spend at least $20, so we could not just order a "diós beigli" ($16), thus we decided to give a chance to "mákos beigli" as well. The former had raw-tasting dough in its middle and the walnuts were not ground but diced; the poppy seed filling of the latter tasted bitter, i.e. rancid; both a far cry from my late grandmother's baked sensations.

Just walk in and you’ll be so moved you will have to try some of their pastries. Places like this is what makes me love NYC. Family owned and operated Bakery. It’s all great and it smells absolutely amazing inside. I get the Chocolate Rugelach and the Linzer Cookies. So good, every time I am in the area I spot by cause it’s grandma’s recipes and you can’t beat that.
