BO's Bagels Introduce
In the vibrant and culturally rich neighborhood of Washington Heights, New York City, few things are as essential to the daily routine as a high-quality bagel. BO's Bagels, located at 3750 Broadway, has carved out a significant reputation among Manhattan residents as a premier destination for this quintessential New York staple. For locals living in the 10032 area and commuters traversing the busy thoroughfare of Broadway, BO's represents the artisanal side of the city's breakfast culture. This isn't just a place to grab a quick bite; it is a bakery dedicated to the specific chemistry that makes a New York bagel world-famous: the perfect balance of a crispy exterior and a light, airy interior.
The atmosphere at BO's Bagels is characterized by the fast-paced energy typical of an Upper Manhattan morning. As you step inside, the sensory experience is immediate. The shop is known for maintaining a clean environment that, notably, doesn't carry the heavy, greasy odors often associated with lesser establishments. Instead, the air is filled with the simple, honest scent of freshly baked dough and toasted seeds. Whether you are a regular who visits every Friday or a first-timer curious about the local hype, the shop aims to deliver a product that stands out in a city where competition for the "best bagel" title is fierce. While every high-volume business faces the challenges of the morning rush, the core mission at BO's Bagels remains focused on providing a superior baked product that honors the tradition of the craft.
Location and Accessibility
BO's Bagels is conveniently situated at 3750 Broadway, New York, NY 10032, USA. Positioned on one of Manhattan's most famous and longest avenues, the shop is right in the heart of Washington Heights. This location is particularly advantageous for residents of the neighborhood who are looking for a reliable breakfast spot within walking distance of their homes. It is also a frequent stop for those working at or visiting the nearby NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, providing a much-needed caffeine and carb boost for healthcare workers and students alike.
Accessibility is a major highlight for this location. For those using the New York City Subway, the shop is just blocks away from the 157th Street Station (1 Train) and within easy reach of the 163rd Street-Amsterdam Avenue Station (C Train). Multiple bus lines, including the M4 and M5, run along Broadway, making it incredibly simple to stop in for a dozen bagels on your way to a gathering or a morning meeting. While street parking in Manhattan is famously difficult, the high density of public transit options ensures that BO's Bagels remains accessible to anyone in the New York region. For those who prefer to stay home, the shop is integrated with popular delivery platforms, allowing the Washington Heights experience to be brought directly to your doorstep across Upper Manhattan.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting BO's Bagels for the first time, you must experience the base product that built their reputation. The "Everything Bagel" is a perennial favorite, though it is worth noting that the seasoning is generous; if you are ordering multiple types to go, you may want to ensure they are handled carefully to keep the flavors distinct. Many customers describe these bagels as the best they have ever had in their life, specifically highlighting the "light, fluffy, and crispy" texture that is the hallmark of a perfectly executed bake. This texture is what separates a true New York bakery from a standard grocery store alternative.
For a more customized experience, the toasted plain bagel with butter and jelly is a classic choice for those who prefer a simpler flavor profile. However, if you are a fan of rich textures, their cream cheese selections are substantial. When visiting in person, you have the advantage of seeing the freshness of the spreads and ensuring your order is prepared exactly to your liking. While delivery is a convenient option for many, visiting the Broadway storefront allows you to fully appreciate the quality of the bagels while they are at their peak temperature and crispness. Whether you are looking for a simple buttered roll or a complex breakfast sandwich, the quality of the bread itself makes BO's Bagels a standout choice in the Washington Heights culinary scene.
In a city as demanding as New York, maintaining consistency is the ultimate challenge for any local business. While high-volume periods can occasionally lead to mishaps in delivery packaging, the enduring popularity of BO's Bagels speaks to the fundamental quality of their baking. For the best possible experience, stopping by the shop in person allows you to soak in the local atmosphere and enjoy a bagel that many consider to be the gold standard of the neighborhood. If you find yourself on Broadway near 155th or 157th Street, BO's Bagels is well worth the visit for an authentic taste of Manhattan.

BO's Bagels Reviews

I placed an order through Uber Eats, and what I received felt like a complete disregard for quality. All the bagels were thrown loosely into the bag without being individually wrapped, even though each one was different. As a result, all the seeds and seasonings from the everything bagel ended up stuck to the others. In addition, I ordered a toasted plain bagel with butter and jelly, but instead received a cold bagel with a large blob of cream cheese (see photos). I order from this shop every Friday and have never experienced anything like this before. Whoever handled my order this morning clearly wasn’t paying attention. I’m very disappointed and won’t be ordering again. This was from Bo’s Bagels in Washington Heights.

Literally, the ineffably best bagel I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was light fluffy crispy in the shop did not smell.

This is definitely a bagel shop that Harlem needs, but the neighborhood deserves so much better. The quality of the bagels and sandwiches is there. The bagels are all well-coated in toppings, have a distinct and standalone “bagel” flavor, and offer a satisfyingly crusty shell to chew with every bite. The staff is super friendly and the store is clean and spacious, albeit without a unique aesthetic other than “black and white minimalist”. The menu is extensive and, at least for its soft-opening, offers many different items that make me say “oh, I need to come back for that!” before my order is even ready. I’ve been dying for a true bagel shop in the neighborhood ever since I moved here and I can confidently say I’ll be a regular at Bo’s. However, it will be out of convenience rather than genuine desire. The menu is incredibly overpriced by bagel shop standards. A BEC ran me $11. An everything bagel with plain CC and a black coffee was also $11. Plus, I’m 99% sure they use Philadelphia cream cheese as their base, judging by the Kraft-branded box out in the open on the counter. I can’t speak for how other bagel shops prepare their schmears but to know, outright, that I’m eating the same thing I could get at the grocery store, only now with a sprinkle of chives mixed in, makes me question not only the prices but their commitment to the craft. I support paying for a better product when you have the chance. And, when it comes to breakfast/bagel spots — with hundreds to choose from across the city — I take it seriously. While the bagels at Bo’s are really good, you can find similar (if not better) bagels just by throwing a dart at a map in New York. The bagels are a very average size, as well, so it’s not even a matter of ‘paying for more.’ On the BEC, you get three skinny strips of bacon that resemble what you get from Oscar Meyer. I am happy and significantly relieved to know I have a real bagel shop just 5 mins from my apartment. This place will make WFH days infinitely better, especially now that I have resigned my lease. I appreciate Bo’s Bagels opening this location, full stop. There are few things in life I love more than a bagel, some cream cheese, and a cuppa’ black coffee to start the day. But as the saying goes, sometimes love is not enough. And there is not enough at Bo’s to make me “love” it quite yet.

I mean it's a bagel shop so the atmosphere isn't supposed to be any big deal! The reason I give Bo's straight 5s is the strength of the food and the positive competence of the cashiers and customer interface. Bo's always gets terrific people behind the register, and since the food is always great, the kitchen and the rest of the staff must be equally strong, but you rarely talk to them as a customer. Because the shop is hugely popular, it's possible to overwhelm an incompetent staff. Bo's has thoughtfully hired the right people to keep up with their success. It's a virtuous circle and a great addition to our neighborhood.

Just like the original location on 116th, this location doesn't disappoint. It's actually bigger, super bright and welcoming and the staff are just as great as the original location. Don't be fooled, the possibilities are endless and I highly recommend you check the menu first before you come in because there's just so many ways to make a good bagel. No matter what you choose, it's going to be good. Totally recommend the Andrew, Bo's El Barrio and the Bo's Chopped Cheese.
