What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at the counter of Mike's Bagels, it is absolutely worth choosing their Lox bagel. Real customers have noted that the lox is of good quality and provides that quintessential salty and savory flavor profile that New Yorkers crave. While some have mentioned that the cream cheese application can be a bit conservative depending on the day, the base product—the bagel and the salmon—is consistently praised. If you are a fan of a heavy spread, it may be worth specifically asking for extra cream cheese to ensure your $5 bagel meets your expectations for richness. The everything bagel with lox and cream cheese remains a top recommendation for anyone looking for the full experience.
Beyond the food, it is worth choosing Mike's for the sheer convenience and speed of service. In a neighborhood as busy as Washington Heights, the ability to get a "great" bagel from "friendly" workers who are "fast" is a luxury in itself. It is important for local users to be aware of a few logistical details: the shop does apply a 4% surcharge for credit card payments, which is a rare find in some parts of the city. To get the best value, many locals recommend bringing cash to avoid the extra fee. Despite this, the combination of high-quality dough and a welcoming staff makes Mike's Bagels a "must-try" for anyone in the 10032 area. Whether you are grabbing a quick plain bagel for your walk to the hospital or sitting down with a lox sandwich on a slow Sunday, Mike's delivers the authentic taste of New York that has kept its doors open for the community for years.
In summary, Mike's Bagels is a steadfast pillar of the Washington Heights food scene. It offers a product that is "great" by New York standards, served by a team that understands the rhythm of the city. By focusing on speed, friendliness, and the fundamental quality of their hand-rolled bagels, they have created a space that feels like home for thousands of local residents. For anyone looking to experience the true flavors of Upper Manhattan, a stop at 4003 Broadway is a choice you won't regret.

Mike's Bagels Reviews

The bagels themselves are great, workers always friendly, they are fast as well. However they can be reallly stingy with the cream cheese depending on the day or maybe the person, if I’m paying $5 for a bagel with cream cheese I expect a good amount of cream cheese.

Lox bagel is good, but not much cream cheese in it. And they charge 4% for any price of credit card payment. Be aware. Never seen this ever.

Great prices, and really friendly staff! Bagel is really tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. There are no places to sit, so plan to get a coffee at Dunkin if you want to sit. Overall, staff was super nice and efficient!

I came here because the review said it’s one of the best bagels in nyc. I think it was ok but not the best for sure. Friendly staff but I would not come all the way to get ok bagels.

I had a pastrami bagel and it was pretty disappointing. The bread was thin, dense, and way too toasted. It felt more like sandwich bread than a bagel. My friend ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and that one tasted so much better.
