Épicerie Boulud Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of the architectural masterpiece that is the World Trade Center Oculus, Épicerie Boulud stands as a beacon of French culinary excellence. As the eat-in and take-out market from the legendary Chef Daniel Boulud, this location brings the sophistication of Upper West Side gourmet dining to the bustling transit hub of Lower Manhattan. For New York residents and professionals navigating the Financial District, Épicerie Boulud offers a refined alternative to standard grab-and-go fare. It is a place where artisanal craftsmanship meets the high-speed energy of the city, providing healthy, high-quality, and five-star caliber food to those who refuse to compromise on taste, even when they are on the move.
The atmosphere at Épicerie Boulud is electric and sophisticated, reflecting the diverse crowd of New Yorkers, commuters from New Jersey, and international visitors who pass through the Oculus daily. Frequent patrons often remark on the "always a line" phenomenon—a testament to the bakery’s reputation. While the wait can be a deterrent for the uninitiated, local regulars understand that the line is a badge of quality. It represents a collective agreement among food lovers that the wait is justified by the superior customer service and the exceptional quality of the Matcha, lattes, and house-made breads. Here, the hustle of the city pauses for a moment as guests are treated to a menu curated by one of the world’s most celebrated chefs, ensuring that every croissant, salad, and sandwich is executed to perfection.
Location and Accessibility
Located at 185 Greenwich St LL 4000, New York, NY 10007, Épicerie Boulud is strategically positioned on the lower level of the Oculus Center. This location is perhaps one of the most accessible spots in all of Manhattan, serving as a focal point for the World Trade Center Transportation Hub. It is situated remarkably close to the PATH station entrance, making it the premier choice for commuters arriving from or departing to New Jersey. For those traveling within the five boroughs, the bakery is directly connected to nearly every major subway line, including the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, E, J, R, and W trains, providing seamless indoor access regardless of the weather outside.
Accessibility is not just about transportation; it is about convenience within the urban landscape. Unlike many nearby gourmet markets that may open later in the day, Épicerie Boulud serves as an essential early-morning resource for the Lower Manhattan community, often opening its doors at 8:00 AM. This makes it a vital stop for breakfast before heading to the office or starting a day of sightseeing. The shop’s position within the climate-controlled Oculus ensures a comfortable experience year-round. Whether you are coming from the street level near the 9/11 Memorial or through the underground concourses from Brookfield Place, the bright and welcoming counter of Épicerie Boulud is easily identifiable and welcoming to all.

What is worth choosing
Choosing from the menu at Épicerie Boulud can be a challenge simply because the quality is consistently high across the board. For the morning rush, the traditional French croissant is a must—it is widely regarded as one of the most authentic versions in the city, featuring a crisp, golden exterior and a tender, layered interior. If you are in the mood for something more substantial, the egg and ham sandwich is a sophisticated take on a breakfast classic, elevated by the quality of the bread and the premium cuts of meat used. For caffeine enthusiasts, their Matcha latte and Americano are expertly crafted and provide a significant step up from the standard coffee chains found throughout the Oculus.
If your visit coincides with the holiday season or you are looking for a decadent dessert, the pies are particularly noteworthy. The Pumpkin Pie is a consistent winner, praised for its perfect balance of spice and creamy texture. For those with a serious sweet tooth, the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie offers a rich and indulgent experience that is both chocolatey and deeply flavorful. For a midday meal, the pressed sandwiches and fresh salads are highly recommended; they manage to be both filling and light, embodying the "healthy and high-quality" ethos that regular patrons love. No matter what you choose, pairing your selection with one of their famous house-made cookies ensures a complete Boulud experience that will likely turn you into a frequent visitor yourself.

This restaurant/café is one of the best, maybe the best in the world trade center. One of the best things about this restaurant is that there’s always a line. Yes that’s what I said “always a line” and it’s very hard to get what you want to eat without waiting so long. I am a frequent patron and I love it. And I get angry because the line is so long until I checked myself and wondered why is it always like this.? The answer is that the food is so good and healthy and the customer service is five star and there is a way to calm yourself, which I think you should come earlier. The Chef of this café is five star himself, and the people know that. The Chef and his staff know that some of these people who can’t wait to get Matcha or Americana or lattes, tea, salads, egg, and ham, sandwich, sandwiches, cookies, marble bread, croissants, and it goes on and on and on. You can either wait or you can go around the oculus and find other good coffee and sugary donuts and cold sandwich and there’s no line but you can be off to your job with your press sandwich or you can go with your huge plastic cup of coffee and dunk Your bread and be satisfied. People who love excellent food (on the go something that’s hard to do.) we’ll wait until their time comes and they always come back the next day. I did. This is a star five restaurant. And remember this: New York have touring people from all over the world and you have people coming out of New Jersey and you have people who are coming in New York. It is the Oculus and I think that this is the best that you can get to eat unless you go up there to my friends Eately and they’re not open at 8 o’clock in the morning. Don’t flinch and leave ,because you have the best people to take good care of you and your health and it all goes together.

Stopped by the Epicerie Boulud near the PATH station in the Oculus for some holiday pie! Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie: Very chocolatey but, for my personal taste, it was too sweet. Great for anyone with a serious sweet tooth who loves a rich, decadent chocolate and pecan combo. Pumpkin Pie: Definitely the winner of the two! A better balance of flavor.

Very busy but workers are fast and friendly. Had a cappuccino and it was delicious. Good amount of seating available. Although I didn’t try any, they had dessert and pastries available and they looked delicious.

This place this located at The Shops at the Oculous I'm sure I spelled it wrong... and I bought the last 2 Kings Cake they had. So happy I got my hands on it. It tasted amazing and looked spectacular. I brought to the office to share with my colleagues.

Very disappointing and concerning experience. Dirty tables and floor. It seems that the café uses extremely low-quality milk for cappuccinos, possibly even spoiled. Our family ordered lattes and cappuccinos, and within about 30 minutes all four of us started feeling sick — nausea, vomiting, and strong stomach pain. This lasted for several hours. What makes this situation even more serious is that one of us is a breastfeeding mother. This was by far the worst coffee shop experience we’ve ever had and a serious health concern. Please be cautious when ordering here. Management should definitely check the quality and freshness of their products throughout the day, not just once.
