Colomba Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of the Upper East Side, where the charm of old New York meets modern sophistication, Colomba Bakery has established itself as a quintessential neighborhood sanctuary. Located on Lexington Avenue, this bakery is more than just a place to grab a quick caffeine fix; it is an artisanal hub that celebrates the "Art of Italian Taste." Named after the traditional Italian Easter bread—a symbol of peace and rebirth—Colomba Bakery brings a slice of European cafe culture to the 10021 zip code. Whether you are a local resident starting your morning, a professional seeking a high-quality lunch, or a visitor exploring the nearby cultural landmarks, Colomba offers an inviting atmosphere defined by the aroma of freshly baked dough and premium roasted coffee beans.
The shop’s identity is built on a foundation of quality and community. Unlike larger, commercialized chains, Colomba Bakery maintains a personal touch, where the staff and owners are known for their friendly demeanor and high-spirited chats across the counter. The interior reflects a cozy, professional aesthetic that balances the efficiency required by New York commuters with the warmth of a traditional Italian "pasticceria." It is a place where every pastry is baked fresh every morning and every cup of coffee is crafted with care using beans from the renowned La Colombe Coffee Roasters. For New Yorkers who value authenticity, Colomba is a standout destination that proves great things come in quaint, beautifully curated packages.
Location and Accessibility
Colomba Bakery is perfectly situated at 1031 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10021, USA. This prime location on the corner of Lexington and East 74th Street puts it right in the center of one of Manhattan's most desirable residential and shopping districts. For those living in the Lenox Hill or Yorkville areas, the bakery is a familiar and reliable landmark. Its proximity to Hunter College and various medical institutions makes it a popular hub for students, healthcare professionals, and neighborhood regulars alike.
In terms of accessibility, the bakery is exceptionally easy to reach via public transportation. What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at the counter of Colomba Bakery, the first thing you should reach for is one of their signature croissants. The Almond Croissant is a local favorite, prized for its crispy exterior and sweet, soft almond cream filling. For those with a penchant for Italian classics, the Pistachio Croissant offers a rich, nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with a morning espresso. If you are looking for something whimsical and light, the "Teddy Bear Financier" is a madeleine-like treat with a moist sponge texture and a golden-brown finish that is as delightful to look at as it is to eat.
On the savory side, the Sausage, Egg, and Fontina Cheese Croissant is a "filling and satisfying" breakfast option that locals swear by. For a more sophisticated lunch, the Parma Ham Sandwich—featuring Prosciutto di Parma, mozzarella, arugula, and tomato on a thick, chewy white bread—is highly recommended for its balance of salty and fresh flavors. To complete your experience, do not miss out on their coffee; the Oat Milk Draft Latte is a standout for its creamy consistency, while the Taro Latte offers a unique, earthy sweetness for those looking to try something beyond the standard brew. Whether you are warming up on a snowy day or enjoying the outdoor seating in the spring, choosing these staples ensures you get the very best of what this Lexington Avenue gem has to offer.

I couldn't pass by the magnificent snowman made by the coffee shop worker. And yes, the coffee is great! It's a friendly atmosphere. Nice music. I warmed up on this snowy day.

I got their ube latte. It was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like nothing. There’s no espresso shot in it. When I asked them the question about is there any trace of coffee bean in here, they gave me a sassy remark saying “no, but you knew that didn’t you”. I didn’t want to be confrontational so I said I guess? I think most people would think they are going to get some sort of espresso shot or at the very least coffee and not just want yucky purple milk? Completely off put by their attitude and kind of shocked they are advertising this horrifying concoction. What waste of time, effort, and money!!

Unacceptable Behavior From the Barista. This happened on Tuesday morning to me and my husband. We’ve been coming to this coffee shop for a long time, but the barista’s behavior this time was completely out of line. The attitude was rude, dismissive, and made us feel like we were bothering her just by ordering. And unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time—we’ve noticed the same attitude on previous visits as well. To be clear, the guy at the register is always great: friendly, respectful, and one of the reasons we’ve kept coming back. But the barista’s behavior consistently overshadows the positive parts of the experience and makes the entire visit unpleasant. Good coffee doesn’t excuse bad customer service. We genuinely like this place, but we shouldn’t have to deal with repeated disrespect when all we want is a morning coffee.

I often come to this coffee shop for my latte. The girl at the coffee machine is almost always rude and aggressive. On Tuesday, November 25th, I asked if it was possible to have my latte in a 16 oz cup, but the girl aggressively told me that it wasn't possible. I was truly shocked and disappointed, considering i spend my money at this coffee shop. I will never go back. It was a truly shocking experience.
