Joey Bats Natas Café has the best Portuguese pasteis de natas I’ve ever had, and it’s officially my go-to spot for those pasties whenever I’m near Grand Central. The blueberry, chocolate, and classic original are my favorite, always warm, creamy, and delicious. I’m honestly obsessed! The only downside is that sometimes they run out of certain flavors, so you may have to pick another, but either way, you can’t go wrong.

I ate a tiny tart with passion fruit that was both creamy with a flaky tender crust. $4 well spent. I could have eaten another one. These Portuguese tarts appear at the Christmas markets and it’s nice to have them here to savor throughout the year.

The pastéis are delicious, but the customer service was very disappointing. It was my first time ordering, and when I said “regular,” I assumed that meant plain. The woman behind the counter began adding cinnamon, so I politely asked if she could put it on only three of the six I was buying. She sighed loudly in frustration, threw all six pastries away, and with a very annoyed tone said, “This is why I asked you what you wanted.” I explained it was my first time, but she still made me feel as if I had done something wrong. It’s a shame because the pastries themselves are excellent, but the lack of kindness and patience from the staff really overshadowed the experience. Good products should be matched with good customer service.

So crunch and yummy! We tried traditional and chocolate. Both tasted really good! Try Portugease treat if u visit in central station! It s in downstairs dining area!

It's always a treat stopping by Joey Bats Cafe and grabbing a pastry. The service here is friendly and pleasant. It's a fun place to grab a quick bite to eat. Their coffee is flavorful also. I look forward to stopping by here the next time I visit New York. Keep some pastries warm for me.
