What is worth choosing
When visiting Angelina Bakery Grand Central, the sheer volume of choices can be overwhelming. Based on local feedback and the bakery's specialties, the standout category is undoubtedly the croissants. The traditional croissant is noted for its texture and flavor, but the pistachio croissant is frequently cited as a must-try for those who enjoy a rich, nutty filling. These pastries are well-regarded for their taste and are often considered the highlight of the breakfast menu. For those looking for a quick, delicious start to their day in Midtown, these golden, flaky items are the most consistent performers.
However, it is important to manage expectations when it comes to certain specialty items like the carrot cake. While the cake is visually stunning and perfect for those looking to capture a "lifestyle" photo, some patrons have found the texture to be overly uniform and the icing-to-cake ratio to be quite high. If you prefer a cake with a lot of "nuance" or specific "walnut moments," this particular item might feel like it prioritizes style over substance. It is a great choice for the visual experience, but perhaps less so for the traditionalist looking for a deep, textured carrot-forward flavor profile.
The coffee at Angelina is a standard accompaniment to their baked goods. While it serves its purpose as a morning pick-me-up, some local coffee enthusiasts find it to be a secondary feature compared to the high quality of the pastries themselves. Therefore, the best strategy when visiting is to focus heavily on the pastry selection. The "huge range" of choices ensures that there is something for everyone, whether you want a light snack or a decadent treat to share with colleagues. If you are in the Grand Central area, stopping in for a croissant and a quick look at their impressive cake display is a quintessential New York experience that combines convenience with a touch of European luxury.
Ultimately, Angelina Bakery Grand Central shines as a destination for those who appreciate the intersection of culinary art and urban convenience. It provides a reliable spot for high-quality breakfast pastries and visually striking desserts that reflect the vibrant energy of New York City's 42nd Street corridor. Whether you are treating yourself after a long train ride or picking up a box of treats for a local office meeting, the variety and accessibility of this Lexington Avenue gem make it a noteworthy stop in the local Manhattan food scene.

Carrot cake is one of my test items for a bakery. The carrot cake was more "style than substance". It looks great, setting the expectation of a great nuanced carrot cake. It is undifferentiated in texture, lacking walnut "moments", with a cake to icing ratio that collapses into a singular mouth-feel experience. Personal misses include too much icing for the amount of cake, a miss on the carrot-i-ness of the cake itself, and a miss alignment of the visual and the reality. For the amount that a slice costs, this was very disappointing. I did not finish the cake. If you want a great Instagram post or lifestyle posting, these pastries may be good, but they lack depth, and balance.

Pastries are really tasty. Thry have a huge range to choice from. We opted for a croissant and a pistachio croissant both delicious. The coffee isnt to my taste but the pastries and cakes make up for it. Great place to grab breakfast.

Turkey baguette yummy and satisfying with sufficient fillings and toasted warm and delicately moist with sour cream inside. Yet to bite into the MontBlanc (Nutella n Chantilly cream donut) but prettily decorated with silhouette of Angelina :)... While I sat here, witnessed staff coming over to check and clean on the cutlery service area, reflects on good hygiene standards. Keep it up! Note: Seating area limited only to 4 patrons - high chairs facing outward of a glass window, it's more of a take-out bakery than dine-in.

Whent here on a whim for coffee and a donut (was wallking to the station and needed food and the displays caught my eye). I was very impressed by the selection and the store looked wonderful. Ultimately I enjoyed my donut and coffee. I got a filled donit and there was a lot more filling than I expected so be sure to get napkins to clean yourself up after you take a bite 🤣

12.6.25 the breakfast croissants are amazing, flaky, soft, buttery, tasty. Our Americano coffee could have been hotter. There are many delicious items to choose from.
