Kitsby Studio Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city as bustling and fast-paced as New York, finding a creative outlet that allows you to slow down and work with your hands is a rare treasure. Kitsby Studio, a premier culinary destination located in the heart of Manhattan, offers exactly that. Known for transforming the traditional bakery concept into an interactive, social experience, Kitsby Studio has become a go-to spot for New Yorkers seeking more than just a pre-made pastry. This is a space where the art of baking is demystified through hands-on workshops, community events, and a focus on culinary heritage.
Originally gaining popularity for its unique dessert offerings, Kitsby has evolved into a dedicated studio space that emphasizes education and community building. The studio is designed to be a welcoming environment for everyone, from complete kitchen novices to seasoned home bakers. By blending professional culinary techniques with a relaxed, social vibe, Kitsby Studio provides a unique platform for locals to learn the secrets behind some of New York's most iconic foods. Whether you are looking to master the perfect chew of a classic NYC bagel or dive into the intricate world of "kawaii" character baking, the studio offers a curated lineup of classes that celebrate both modern trends and traditional flavors.
Location and Accessibility
Kitsby Studio is perfectly positioned for those who live and work in downtown Manhattan. You can find the studio at 393 Broadway, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10013, USA. Situated in the vibrant SoHo neighborhood, the studio is nestled among some of the city's best shopping, art galleries, and historic cast-iron architecture. Its location on Broadway makes it exceptionally easy to reach from various parts of the city, serving as a central hub for residents of Tribeca, Chinatown, and the Lower East Side.
Accessibility is a key feature of the Broadway location. The studio is just a short walk from several major subway hubs, including the Canal Street station, which provides access to the N, R, Q, W, 6, J, and Z lines. This makes it a convenient destination for participants traveling from Uptown or the outer boroughs. What is worth choosing
For any local or visitor looking to experience the true essence of New York's food culture, the New York Bagel Workshop at Kitsby Studio is an essential choice. Unlike a standard cooking class, this workshop dives deep into the "why" and "how" of the bagel-making process. Participants are guided through the precise steps of creating the iconic NYC texture, learning how each ingredient contributes to the final boil and bake. The ability to customize your own flavors and create your own spreads makes this a highly personal experience. It is a fantastic way to gain a new appreciation for the staple food of the city while developing skills you can actually use in your own kitchen.
Another standout option is the Kawaii Bagel-Making Workshop. This is particularly worth choosing if you enjoy the intersection of art and food. It is a more labor-intensive session that involves hand-kneading and very fine detail work to create character-themed bagels. While it requires patience, the instructors ensure the environment remains encouraging and fun. This class is widely regarded as one of the best date night or group activity ideas in Lower Manhattan because it results in something both delicious and visually stunning. The pride of seeing your "cute" creations come out of the oven is a highlight that many regular attendees rave about.
Finally, do not overlook their social events, such as the Hotpot Social. These events are beautifully organized and provide a perfect balance of food and community. Each table is provided with a wide selection of fresh meats and vegetables, along with access to a full sauce bar. A unique touch that makes these sessions worth choosing is the inclusion of local specialties like Fuzhou-style potato balls (chenzi), which are filled with savory chicken or pork. These touches show Kitsby's commitment to the local New York culinary scene and provide a social experience that feels more like a dinner party with friends than a formal event. Whether you are there to bake or to socialize, Kitsby Studio offers a well-run, creative, and rewarding experience that stands out in the New York landscape.

I went to Kitsby for two events in the same week—a New York bagel workshop and a hotpot social—and both were fantastic! For the New York bagel workshop, we were split into small groups of four/five and guided by wonderful instructors who carefully walked us through each step of the process. They explained how every ingredient contributed to the final result, which made the experience both fun and educational. I especially loved being able to customize our bagel flavors and spreads. Kitsby creates such a relaxed, welcoming environment that makes it easy to meet new people. The hotpot social was also my first, and Kitsby organized it beautifully. Each table had its own selection of meats, vegetables, and other ingredients, and there was a sauce bar on the side! They even surprised us with chenzi—delicious Fuzhou-style potato balls filled with chicken or pork— as part of the hotpot selection, highlighting and supporting local businesses while sharing such rich culinary heritage. Highly recommend Kitsby if you’re looking for a creative, social, and well-run experience in NYC.

Kitsby recently moved their studio to SoHo and launched a lineup of fun, hands-on baking classes. As a huge bagel fan, I immediately signed up for their kawaii bagel-making workshop. The process was pretty labor-intensive, from hand-kneading the dough and shaping each bagel to decorating them with the tiniest character details. But the results were rewarding. Everyone’s creations turned out so cute The class is 100% beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone looking for a fun date idea or girls’ day out. Huge shoutout to our instructor, Bella!! She was incredibly sweet, helpful, and encouraging throughout the class!

Went to their first hot pot social recently and it was so well executed! We were well fed and the set up was done nicely — can’t believe it’s their first time. Highly recommend and would love to attend another event of theirs in the future!
