What is worth choosing
While the entire menu at L.A. Sweets NY is tempting, there are a few standout items that have earned legendary status among the Harlem locals. If it is your first time visiting, you absolutely cannot miss the Strawberry Crunch cake. This particular dessert has become a fan favorite for its authentic strawberry flavor. Unlike many bakeries that rely on artificial syrups, this cake tastes like "strawberry heaven," featuring a perfect balance of moisture and crumb. The frosting is meticulously crafted—it is light and flavorful without being overbearingly sweet, allowing the dual flavors of the cake to shine through.
Another reason to choose L.A. Sweets NY is the sheer variety of their cupcakes. Each one is a miniature work of art, with swirls of frosting and creative toppings that make them almost too beautiful to eat. However, the true beauty lies in the texture; the cakes are consistently soft and fresh, a hallmark of a bakery that takes pride in its daily output. Because the portions are quite large, many customers find that a single slice or a couple of cupcakes is more than enough to satisfy a serious craving.
Beyond the food, choosing L.A. Sweets NY means choosing to support a local business that is deeply embedded in the Harlem community. The staff’s ability to make you feel at home is a rare find in the fast-paced environment of New York City. Whether you are looking for a recommendation or just want a friendly chat while you pick out your treats, the team here goes above and beyond. For anyone in the New York area looking for a dessert that offers both high-quality flavor and a heartfelt local connection, L.A. Sweets NY is the definitive choice. It is a place where you come for the cake but stay for the warmth and tradition of one of Harlem's finest establishments.

Staying in Harlem for the first time and needed a good dessert. I tend to pick bakeries over restaurant desserts. I found LA Sweets right next to the hotel so definitely worth a peek. As with most good bakeries I was overwhelmed with the tasty looking options. The staff clearly recognized my indecisiveness and offered to make a recommendation. She called out Strawberry Crunch cake which I had my eye on already, so I went with it. Loved it! Too many times strawberry desserts taste like chemical strawberry. This tasted like strawberry heaven. Frosting wasn’t too sweet and complimented the two cake flavors well. Was so excited to dig into the cake, I forgot to grab a picture for the review. And now all I have is an empty box with barely a crumb left. I’d go back to try another piece but the pieces are large.

When in Harlem, you need to make sure to check out this beautiful establishment right next-door to the Apollo theater. You will not be disappointed they have great treats and they have wonderful flavors. The staff are super friendly and guess what it makes you feel like home they are from the Area and are a staple in the neighborhood. Make sure to support them and get all your goodies from. It will definitely be worth it. All the way from Harlem to Orlando.

I stopped by LA Sweets NY yesterday for their grand opening at their 2nd Harlem location. Shout out their staff they helped set up the new store and were still able to provide good service. They’re serving up cake slices, cupcakes, cheesecakes, pies, cinnamon rolls, and much more. I tried the toasted coconut pineapple cake and that was my favorite. The cakes they make are moist and they are not cheap with toppings, frosting, etc. The inside is small but has a nice aesthetic. This is 100% black women owned and I wish this cake shop continues to succeed.

Ordered vanilla velvet cake thursday night for a saturday morning pick up. Went in on Saturday and was told there was nothing for me. I showed my email confirmation and the woman told me no one told her anything. She told me one of the cakes in the display case was a vanilla velvet and offered it to me. Got home sliced the cake and it was dark. Called Bakery to find out what kind of cake I got and the first gal that served me earlier left me on hold for 6 minutes. Called back and got someone else and she informed me I got a vegan cake. I was not upset at all that I got something else, only wanted to know what it was and why my order was not ready. The lady on the phone then asked me my name, called me (LILLY) and said thanks for putting in an order after hours. lol. What the heck? I paid $51 bucks for the wrong cake and she gave me attitude. My name is not Lilly. I was told there is a 48 hour min, but no one called me. I would of accepted Sunday pick up with no problem. Website states 24 hr min.

Stopped by my old neighborhood on a recent visit and saw this new bakery - did not disappoint! The strawberry cake was divine and the banana pudding was equally delicious. Great customer service as well. Wishing you many years of success ahead!
