La Pinata Bakery Introduce
In the heart of Yonkers, New York, sits a local staple that has become a destination for those seeking authentic flavors and custom creations: La Pinata Bakery. For residents of the New York metropolitan area, finding a bakery that balances traditional craftsmanship with the bustling energy of the city can be a challenge. La Pinata Bakery fills this niche perfectly, serving as a cornerstone of the New Main Street community. Whether you are a lifelong Yonkers resident or a visitor exploring the vibrant neighborhoods of Westchester County, this bakery offers a window into the rich culinary traditions of the region.
The bakery has built a reputation over the years for its diverse array of baked goods, ranging from daily staples to elaborate celebratory centerpieces. In a city like New York, where the competition for the best pastry is fierce, La Pinata maintains its presence by staying true to its roots while catering to the modern needs of a fast-paced clientele. Local patrons often describe it as a reliable spot for a quick morning treat or a dependable partner for last-minute event planning, providing a sense of comfort and familiarity that only a neighborhood bakery can provide.
Location and Accessibility
La Pinata Bakery is conveniently situated at 118 New Main St, Yonkers, NY 10701, USA. For those traveling from within Yonkers, the bakery is centrally located near several local bus routes and is a short distance from the downtown waterfront area. If you are coming from further out in the New York region, the bakery is reachable via the Saw Mill River Parkway or the New York State Thruway, offering a straightforward route for those picking up large orders like custom cakes.
The storefront is nestled among a variety of local shops, contributing to the walkability of the New Main Street corridor. While street parking in New York can always be a bit of a puzzle, the high turnover of the neighborhood means spots often open up nearby for those making a quick stop. For many in the community, the bakery serves as a frequent waypoint during their daily routine, providing easy access to fresh bread and pastries without the need for a trip to a major supermarket.

What is worth choosing
When visiting La Pinata Bakery, the choice of what to order can be overwhelming given the variety on display. However, based on the experiences of local New Yorkers and frequent patrons, there are a few standouts that are particularly worth your consideration. The specialty cakes are the true stars of the show here. Specifically, the red velvet cake has received significant praise for its moisture and flavor balance. For those celebrating a birthday or a special achievement, requesting a themed cake is a great way to see the bakery's creativity in action. One customer recently noted a stunning "book-themed" red velvet cake that was described as "absolutely perfect" for a birthday celebration, proving that when the bakery hits its stride, the results are visually impressive and delicious.
Beyond the celebratory cakes, the everyday Mexican pastries are a must-try. These items offer a glimpse into the traditional baking methods that define the bakery's identity. If you are in the neighborhood for a morning coffee, grabbing a selection of their fresh breads or sweet rolls is a great way to start the day. It is worth noting that while the food is consistently high-quality, the decorating style can vary depending on which artist is on duty. For the best experience, it is recommended to provide clear references for custom designs. If you find yourself in a pinch and need a high-quality dessert at the last minute, La Pinata is widely regarded as a reliable "go-to" spot that can deliver something tasty even when time is short.
In conclusion, La Pinata Bakery remains a vital part of the Yonkers landscape. It offers the grit and authenticity that New York locals appreciate, paired with the sweet rewards of traditional baking. While the service can be brisk—typical of many high-traffic New York establishments—the end result is a product that brings joy to many local tables. Staff is short tempered/condescenfing every time I order from here… like they hate working there lol The food is consistently good, but the cake decorating is very inconsistent. This is what I requested and what I got… but the message was there and I had no time to debate about the quality 🤷🏻♀️ it was also re-made because they didn’t follow what I requested at first. Though, I have had a beautiful cake from here before so I guess it depends who is working… if you want consistency and good customer service, then go somewhere else. Otherwise, good place for something tasty and last minute!

Terrible! Horrendous service and poor quality food. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I had called early on and placed an order for a tres leche cake with whip cream, strawberries & peaches, thin layer of dulce de leche with almonds on the side along with it saying happy birthday mom on the cake. The lady had repeated my order exactly as what I said and told me it would cost around $50 or so because of the additions, no problem. I live in Long Island and told the lady taking my order that I would like to pick it up early because I live 2 hours away which she was accommodating and said okay to 9AM. On February 11, when I went to pick up the cake it did not have the writing on top and the nuts were very scarce. I had asked the young lady to please put more nuts since there was barely any. Once I paid I just received back the receipt and said if I can have a bag. She stated they charge $1.50 for the bag and I said okay I will pay but then told me there is a $7 min since I was paying with a card. So, I just carried the box. Finally, when it came to opening the cake for everyone and cutting a slice I realized this was the completely wrong order. I had given my mom the first slice hoping it would still be good just different but she couldn’t finish it. Just like that the whole cake was thrown out. I was so upset and embarrassed that I had brought this cake for my Mother’s birthday. It was such a terrible feeling of disappointment. The mousse was so thick and the whipped cream was overwhelmingly thick. The next day (Feb 12) I had called early in the morning and told the bakery my situation that I got the wrong order and could even send them photos. I spoke with a lady named Miriam who really made my experience even more unpleasant. What had happen was that the young lady from the day I picked up the cake did not give me a yellow copy of the order I only got the payment receipt. On that order someone had crossed out the strawberry and peaches and wrote caramel mousse. I told Miriam this is incorrect I never stated that. To make it more unpleasant this lady was inconsiderate and rude towards the end. Because I didn’t get that order receipt I couldn’t fight my case. Stating that they can give me a $5 store credit. But can’t reimburse me. I stated I would like to talk to the boss and she said she would leave a message and the boss would get back to me but because the boss doesn’t come everyday just here and there that she can’t give me a definite period as to when the boss will contact me. So, I waited the whole day on February 13 and got no call. I called again on February 14 and finally spoke to a lady who was much more pleasant and helpful. I told her I was expecting a call and just wanted to see if the boss was available. The lady said she will see if there was any message left and as to my surprise the lady informs me that no message was left. Miriam had told me she left a message for their boss. I do not appreciate being lied to which made me even more upset. However, the lady was much more understanding of my situation and gave me a number to reach out to so I can send photos of what I received. Which, is what I wanted to do early on but Miriam was not at all helpful. I sent the pictures to the number and Miriam calls me back which I really wasn’t too happy about. Stating she spoke with the boss and can only give me $22 store credit for their bakery, when I physically go they can service it. Which I had repeatedly said I live in Long Island. Tolls are not cheap. I have never experienced this before and never wrote such a detailed review like this for a bakery. What upsets me is how inconsiderate and unprofessional this bakery has been. I would stick to much better places& with better customer services such as Martha’s country bakery. But I wanted to support this bakery because it’s wasn’t just me but my whole family that has been coming here for 10+ years. However, most definitely we agreed to never go back to this bakery. Horrendous experience!! Please don’t waste your time and money.
