Rokhat Kosher Bakery Introduce
In the culturally rich landscape of Rego Park, Queens, food serves as a bridge between history and the modern New York lifestyle. For those in search of truly authentic Central Asian flavors, Rokhat Kosher Bakery stands as a beacon of tradition. This establishment is not your typical neighborhood pastry shop; it is a specialized Bukharian bakery that has served the community for decades, preserving the artisanal techniques of a heritage that values hearty ingredients, wood-fired textures, and strict kosher standards. For local residents and culinary explorers across the five boroughs, Rokhat represents a rare opportunity to taste the soul of Bukharian Jewish cuisine without leaving the city.
Walking toward the bakery, the scent of fresh dough and roasting meats often spills out onto Austin Street, providing a sensory landmark for hungry passersby. Rokhat Kosher Bakery operates with an old-school, no-nonsense philosophy: the focus is entirely on the quality of the bake. While the interior is functional—designed for a quick "get your food and go" experience—the lack of frills is a testament to its authenticity. It is a place where the craftsmanship speaks for itself, and where a decade of loyal patronage from the local community has cemented its reputation as a "must-travel" destination for anyone serious about traditional breads and meat-filled pastries.
Location and Accessibility
Rokhat Kosher Bakery is located at 65-43 Austin St, Rego Park, NY 11374, USA. What is worth choosing
While the entire menu at Rokhat Kosher Bakery is worth exploring, there are certain items that have achieved legendary status among local foodies. The absolute "must-have" is the somsa. These savory pastries are available with beef, lamb, or pumpkin fillings. The lamb somsa, in particular, is highly recommended for its authentic flavor and the perfect ratio of meat to pastry. Each somsa is served warm, showcasing a crisp, flaky exterior that encases a succulent and well-seasoned interior. The pumpkin version offers a delightful sweet-savory alternative for those looking to experience the full breadth of Bukharian flavors.
Another item that demands attention is the Toki. This large, circular, rounded flatbread is a marvel of texture. It is prized for being exceptionally crispy and thin, making it a perfect accompaniment to soups or enjoyed on its own as a snack. Many customers find it to be a superior alternative to standard flatbreads due to its unique preparation. If you are visiting for the first time, don't be afraid to ask the staff for their daily recommendation; they are known for their helpfulness and can guide you toward the freshest batch currently coming out of the oven. Whether you are buying a single somsa for a quick lunch or a stack of Toki for a dinner party, you are choosing a piece of culinary history that has been perfected over generations.
Rokhat Kosher Bakery represents the true spirit of Queens: a place where tradition is maintained with pride and shared with a smile. It is an essential stop for anyone wanting to understand the deep roots of the Rego Park community. The combination of high-quality kosher meats, expert baking, and reasonable prices makes it a standout in a city full of options. It is not just a bakery; it is a cultural landmark that continues to prove that quality and authenticity are the most important ingredients of all.

Whether you live in the area, or not, the different types of bread here, are interesting, the crispy flatbread-type bread, called Toki is special, like Matzah, but better, and a huge circular, rounded shape. But the thing to get, the thing to travel here for, is the samosa. Beef, lamb, or pumpkin, all are great, warm, and authentic. It's a shop - you get your food and leave, it's not a restaurant, so you are not going there for the atmosphere, and I am not taking stars off for that. I've actually been coming here for over a decade and don't remember if I ever wrote a review, but either way, here is one.

An excellent, old-school, Bukharian somsa bakery. All their somsa and other items taste great… lots of meat inside each somsa, and minimal fat. And kosher. Just the way I like it. And always service with a smile from the gentlemen that work there. Thank you baradarim.

I always stop by for their belyashi whenever I’m in the area. The owners are incredibly friendly and sometimes even offer small samples of their pastries or bread to try, which is such a nice touch. But the belyashi is still my absolute favorite!

Looks like a really organized bakery old school vibe. Had a giant hot round bread, delicious crusty and airy with a strong foundation. The meat pie is filling. Fantastic bakers you have here.

I came here to buy some bakery goods. The Apricot Strudel is presented very beautifully and tastes good. Apple turnovers are a great treat. You can even buy the goods here to be used as a gift bcuz that’ll be nice too.
