Valencia Bakery Introduce
For over 75 years, Valencia Bakery has been more than just a place to buy dessert; it has been a cornerstone of the Bronx community and a legendary name across the entire New York region. Since its establishment in 1948, this iconic institution has specialized in traditional Puerto Rican-style baking, becoming the gold standard for celebrations ranging from first birthdays to golden anniversaries. When you walk through the doors of their Mott Haven location, you aren't just visiting a bakery—you are stepping into a piece of New York City history. Known for their signature moist yellow sponge cakes and unmistakable buttercream frosting, Valencia has earned a loyal following that spans generations, with many local families refusing to celebrate a milestone without one of their famous boxes on the table.
The bakery recently gained international spotlight after being featured in a Bad Bunny music video, where their vibrant, multi-tiered cakes showcased the traditional "quinceañera" aesthetic that the shop has mastered for decades. This blend of deep-rooted tradition and modern cultural relevance makes Valencia Bakery a unique destination for both long-time residents and new fans alike. Whether you are looking for a simple slice of pineapple cake to brighten your afternoon or a custom-designed masterpiece for a major event, Valencia continues to deliver the same "made with love" quality that has sustained its reputation for nearly a century. In a city that is constantly changing, Valencia Bakery remains a steadfast symbol of local flavor and communal celebration.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting Valencia Bakery for the first time, you must experience the classic "Valencia Style" cake. Specifically, the Yellow Cake with Custard Filling and Buttercream Frosting is the legendary combination that built their empire. Customers have described this specific pairing as "phenomenal," noting that the cake is exceptionally moist while the custard provides a rich, creamy contrast that makes it stand out from standard supermarket or boutique bakeries. This is the flavor that evokes childhood memories for thousands of New Yorkers and is often the "showstopper" at local parties.
For those looking for something with a bit more fruit-forward flavor, the Pineapple Filling is another iconic choice that pairs beautifully with their signature sponge. If you are a fan of pop culture, the "Benito Cake" is a must-order; it allows you to enjoy a piece of music history while indulging in their authentic Puerto Rican sponge cake. Don't overlook the "sweets" section either—their Pastelillos de Guava (guava pastries) and creamy Flan are perfect for those who want a taste of Valencia without ordering a full cake. Whatever your choice, ensure you order in advance for special dates, as this local favorite is always in high demand for a reason.
In a city where trends come and go, Valencia Bakery’s longevity is a testament to its quality. For any New Yorker looking to celebrate a special occasion with a cake that actually tastes as good as it looks, a trip to 138th Street is well worth the effort. It isn't just a dessert; it's a New York tradition that continues to bring families together one delicious slice at a time.

This cake was PHENOMENAL! Everything I wanted and an 8’ went all in one night which NEVER HAPPENED with ANY OTHER baker cake we have got before. The photo of my 1yr old enjoying some birthday cake is exactly how we all wanted to devour this delicious yellow cake with custard filling and buttercream frosting. Pickup was a breeze and customer service was fantastic. Can’t wait for the next celebration coming in May— i will be at Valencia!

I have been going to them for years. My toddler mind is out of this world and what he wanted I know they could do it. They was understanding as I needed my date changed. And they also told me before hand that the topping wasn’t edible. Very freely young lady I picked it up from. I will be back at the end of November for my son cupcakes. I did yellow cake with chocolate chips.

Honestly, the cake wasn’t bad but the delivery of what I wanted was not what i was expecting. I sent a specific picture thinking I was going to get exactly what I sent and for $87 the cake decoration was not worth that. Maybe the girl got confused idk, but when they asked me if I wanted to add the figurine of the gabby doll, I said yes not thinking the cake was going to be just that. The little banner, I thought she said they would place it on the face of the cake and that was not it either. So it will be my first and last time. Because, the cake I received I could’ve done myself.

My cake looked great but the frosting was super soft and the cake broke apart as soon as we went to cut it. This is a $200 cake and it wasn’t worth $2 the cake design was also cheap. What I ordered compared to what I got was very disappointing. Needless to say that I won’t be buying any more birthday cakes from this establishment again.
