Village Square Bagels Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For many residents of Westchester County, the morning routine is incomplete without a stop at a trusted neighborhood bagel shop. Village Square Bagels, a long-standing fixture in Larchmont, New York, serves as a prominent destination for those seeking the quintessential New York breakfast experience. Located in a region where the competition for the perfect bagel is fierce, this establishment has carved out a niche by offering a combination of traditional baking methods and a vast array of morning staples. From the crack of dawn, the shop becomes a hive of activity, catering to commuters, local families, and students alike.
Village Square Bagels is primarily known for its commitment to providing high-quality, fresh-baked goods at price points that remain remarkably accessible. In an area where artisanal breakfast can often carry a premium price tag, this shop stands out for its affordability without compromising the fundamental "chew and crunch" that bagel enthusiasts expect. While the atmosphere during peak hours can be high-energy and bustling, it reflects the classic, fast-paced nature of a true New York deli. It is a place where the local community gathers to fuel up for the day ahead, offering a sensory experience of fresh-baked dough and steaming coffee that defines the suburban New York lifestyle.
Location and Accessibility
Village Square Bagels is conveniently situated at 1262 W Boston Post Rd, Larchmont, NY 10538, USA. Its position on the West Boston Post Road—a major artery connecting various coastal towns in Westchester—makes it an ideal stop for those traveling between Larchmont, Mamaroneck, and New Rochelle. The shop is nestled within a central commercial area, making it easily reachable for local residents who are out performing their morning errands or heading toward the nearby I-95 corridor.
In terms of accessibility, the shop is designed to handle a high volume of foot traffic. For those driving, the surrounding area typically provides the standard parking options expected of a busy suburban commercial strip, though it can become quite congested during the Saturday and Sunday morning rushes. The shop’s physical layout is geared toward a "counter-service" model, which is intended to facilitate quick transactions for those on their way to work or school. Its proximity to local parks and residential neighborhoods makes it a walkable destination for many Larchmont families, further cementing its status as a local hub.
Services Offered
As a full-service bagel and deli establishment, Village Square Bagels offers a comprehensive menu that covers the spectrum of breakfast and lunch needs. Their services include:
- Daily production of various bagel varieties, including plain, everything, sesame, poppy seed, and specialty flavors.
- Custom-made breakfast sandwiches featuring fresh eggs, various meats (bacon, sausage, ham), and a selection of cheeses.

- Freshly brewed coffee and a selection of teas and juices to accompany any meal.
- In-store ordering and pickup, designed for those who need a reliable and quick breakfast on the go.
- Catering options for local events, business meetings, or family gatherings (interested parties should call ahead to coordinate large orders).
Features / Highlights
Village Square Bagels boasts several features that contribute to its popularity in the Larchmont community, as well as aspects that define its unique operational style:
- Exceptional Affordability: One of the most frequently highlighted features is the shop’s pricing. Many customers are pleasantly surprised by how affordable the menu remains compared to other specialty shops in Westchester.
- Fresh-Baked Quality: The bagels are prepared on-site, ensuring that patrons receive a fresh product with the traditional texture and flavor profile associated with New York-style bagels.
- High-Energy Environment: The shop often experiences a very busy and "chaotic" atmosphere on weekend mornings, which is a testament to its popularity but also requires customers to be prepared for a lively, sometimes overwhelming environment.
- Diverse Selection: Beyond just bagels, the shop offers a full deli experience, making it a "one-stop shop" for all breakfast and lunch sandwich needs.
- Local Convenience: Its location on Boston Post Road makes it one of the most conveniently located breakfast spots for commuters in the Larchmont area.
- Dedicated Staffing: The shop employs a diverse team of counter staff to manage the high volume of orders that typically surge during the early morning hours.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Village Square Bagels, the primary draw is, of course, the bagels themselves. For first-time visitors, choosing a classic "Everything" or "Sesame" bagel is a great way to gauge the quality of their bake. These bagels are frequently praised for being "delicious" and are best enjoyed with one of their many flavored cream cheeses. If you are looking for a more substantial meal, their breakfast sandwiches are a top-tier choice. The egg, bacon, and cheese on a bagel is a local staple that benefits from the shop's ability to serve a hot, fresh meal at an incredible price point.
For those who prefer a savory lunch, their deli sandwiches are well worth considering, especially if you are looking for a reliable alternative to national chains. Regulars often suggest that if you want to avoid the most "chaotic" times, visiting on a weekday morning rather than a Saturday can lead to a more relaxed experience. However, regardless of when you go, the combination of delicious food and "absolutely amazing prices" makes it a compelling option for anyone in the Larchmont area. While the service environment can be fast-paced and sometimes intense during peak rushes, the value and the quality of the bagels keep the local community returning for all their breakfast and sandwich needs. If you are a fan of traditional New York bagels and are looking for a spot that won't break the bank, Village Square Bagels is a location that should be on your Westchester radar.

Absolutely amazing prices. Trust me when I say, I did NOT expect it to be so affordable. The bagels are so delicious, the service is absolutely amazing, I’ll be coming here for all my bagel and breakfast sandwich needs!

I went in one Saturday morning before work for a bagel because I didn’t want breakfast from McDonalds or Starbucks. The line was chaotic I didn’t know who ordered already from who didn’t order yet, it’s very overwhelming. I waited in line for 10 minutes before it was my turn. There was an older caucasian lady who had just finished a customers order and it was my turn, she looked at me and walked away! There was no “give me a second I’ll be right with you.” So I waited again for the hispanic ladies to complete the other orders they were working on. This older hispanic comes to the counter after finishing an order then proceeds to take another customers order that was 2 people behind me because she knew who he was!!! Then had the audacity to ask him if he needed anything else! I was sooo pissed I walked out. As I’m leaving then I hear “next customer please” Moral of my review if your black DO NOT GO HERE!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SERVED!! After wasting my time in this establishment I ended up being late to work 🙄

"I was excited to try Village Bagels after seeing they were offering a free coupon for a sandwich. When I went in, I ordered my sandwich but was disappointed to find out that they didn’t honor the coupon after I had already placed my order. The sandwich itself was just okay—nothing special. What really bothered me was the poor service. It felt like they didn’t care about the customers or keeping their word on promotions. Overall, not a great experience, and I don't think I'll be back anytime soon."

Long lines, young, untrained staff. They charge you 10 cents more for a “specialty bagel”. Since when is an everything bagel a “specialty bagel”? Charging 10 cents more for an everything bagel with almost no “everything” on it (see pic) is ridiculous! They also charge a 50 cents slicing fee to simply cut a bagel!! I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

The bagels are ok, but the sandwich I got is awful - this pathetic looking thing is supposed to have bacon and avocado, and the skimpy portion of chicken is just meh. The staff seems unhappy. Learn from my mistake and don't waste your money :(
