PopUp Bagels Introduce
In the heart of Manhattan’s busiest transit hub, a new kind of bagel revolution has taken hold. PopUp Bagels, located just steps away from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, has quickly transformed from a viral sensation into a mandatory destination for New York City carb-lovers. Unlike traditional bagel shops that focus on the massive, doughy "sandwiches" that have dominated the city for decades, PopUp Bagels champions a different philosophy: the "tear and dip" experience. The focus here is on the bagel itself—smaller, saltier, and served blistering hot directly from the oven. For locals and commuters navigating the 7th Avenue corridor, this shop represents the pinnacle of fresh-baked quality in a neighborhood where speed and flavor are equally essential.
The atmosphere at the 370 7th Ave location is electric and fast-paced, mirroring the energy of the surrounding Midtown South district. It is a space designed for the modern New Yorker who appreciates artisanal quality without the pretension. The shop is bright, minimalist, and functional, with the intoxicating scent of toasted sesame and fermenting dough acting as the primary decor. While it is a high-volume operation, the service remains notably friendly and polite, with staff members known for serving guests with a genuine smile. It is the kind of place that sets you up perfectly for a day of walking through the city or a long commute home, offering a sensory experience that begins the moment you see the steam rising from the brown paper bag.
Location and Accessibility
PopUp Bagels is strategically situated at 370 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001, USA. This prime location is directly across from the massive Penn Station complex, making it one of the most accessible bagel destinations in the entire city. Whether you are arriving on an LIRR train, catching the 1, 2, or 3 subway lines, or walking over from a game at Madison Square Garden, the shop is perfectly positioned for a quick detour. Its proximity to the A, C, and E lines at 34th Street-Penn Station further enhances its reachability for residents across the five boroughs. For those working in the nearby garment district or the tech hubs of Chelsea, it is a convenient stop that fits seamlessly into a morning or midday routine. While the shop is primarily designed for high-efficiency "to-go" service, its central 7th Avenue presence makes it an easy landmark to find amidst the Midtown hustle.

Operating hours typically align with the morning and afternoon commute, but because the bagels are baked fresh, it is highly recommended to check their website or social media for daily availability, as they have been known to sell out due to high demand. For those planning a weekend visit, arriving early is the best strategy to secure the most popular rotating schmears.
What is worth choosing
When you visit PopUp Bagels, the standard "Everything Bagel" is the definitive starting point. Unlike other versions in the city, the seasoning here is exceptionally well-balanced, providing a salty, crunchy crust that gives way to a soft, airy center. However, the true "must-choose" element is the Weekly Specialty Schmear. Locals frequently check the website every Sunday or Monday to see what the new flavor profiles will be. These are not your average supermarket cream cheeses; they are culinary creations that often incorporate high-end ingredients and bold, fun flavors that you won't find anywhere else. Dipping a hot, salted bagel into a freshly whipped specialty schmear is widely considered one of the best "New York moments" a food lover can have.
For those who prefer the classics, the Plain or Sesame bagels are equally impressive because the quality of the dough and the bake is so high that they don't need heavy toppings to shine. If you are lucky enough to grab one of the four stools inside, pair your order with a cup of their drip coffee. Regulars praise the coffee for being "great" and well-integrated into the breakfast experience. If the team happens to make a mistake on your order, don't worry—their exceptional service usually means you'll end up with an extra treat for your trouble. The texture of these bagels is at its absolute peak the second they are handed to you, so resist the urge to wait until you get home. Tear into them immediately on the sidewalk or while walking toward the park to fully appreciate the perfect ratio of crust to crumb. Whether you are a local resident or just passing through Penn Station, choosing PopUp Bagels is an investment in a superior, hot-baked experience that sets a new bar for the New York City bagel scene.

A great place to come, enjoy some amazing bagels that certainly set you up for a day of walking around New York City. The drip coffee is also great here and the service is exceptional. The staff are super friendly and you are served with a huge smile and politeness. There are several types of bagel available to buy with their signature “schmear” adding a great finish to the already delicious and hot food. You may be lucky to grab one of the four stools available if you want to sit and eat, but bagels can be eaten on the go I suppose. We were lucky enough to get to sit and eat and we loved every mouthful, very highly recommended indeed and if we are ever back in this area of the US, we will definitely be back here.

Pop up Bagels is worth a try! They do make different and new schmears every now and then, I believe. I ordered the cranberry and butter and it was so good! Bagels were fresh. I think price is ok for $13. Thats 3 bagels and a tub of schmear that could be taken home and consume because it's really that much. Service was quick. You order and wait til your name gets called. Its a small shop, no seating so you take it with you. I would love to go again and try other schmear but i'm going to take the bagel scene in new york city seriously so I have yet to try other bagel shops! But this one's on my top list and I recommend!

Loved the cream cheese and butter here. I got the salt (unexpected favorite), sesame and everything bagels. You could only preorder a pack of 12 online - to get 3 or 5 you need to go in person. This might be one of my favorites in the city - I love the concept of dipping a bagel in the spread and schmear. I just wish it was a little easier to spread.

Only 2 table seating available inside the place. Staffs were helpful. The bagels made freshly inside the restaurant. U can see thr process from dipping in the water to putting it in the oven. U can definitely ensure that you will get the warm bagels right out from the oven. Their concept is grip, rip and dip. So a set came in 3 bagels and 1 creamcheese minimum. The place was packed in the morning but didnt take long to get the food
