Bagel Boss Introduce
In a city where the "perfect bagel" is a subject of passionate debate, Bagel Boss in Murray Hill has carved out a reputation as a quintessential neighborhood staple. Located in the heart of Manhattan’s 10016 zip code, this shop represents the gold standard of the New York bagel tradition. For locals, it isn't just a place to grab a quick breakfast; it’s a community hub where the aroma of toasted malt and fresh coffee signals the start of the day. Bagel Boss brings decades of family heritage to 3rd Avenue, serving up hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, and baked-to-perfection rounds that embody the "old school" craft that made New York famous. Whether you are a lifelong resident or a visitor wanting a true taste of the city, this establishment offers an experience that is both authentically gritty and warmly welcoming.
The philosophy at Bagel Boss is simple: quality, size, and variety. Stepping into the shop, you are immediately greeted by bins overflowing with bagels that are famously massive—often described by regulars as large enough to be used as a pillow. Despite their impressive scale, these bagels maintain the elusive balance of a crisp, blistered exterior and a light, chewy interior. This mastery of texture is what draws a consistent crowd of Murray Hill locals who appreciate a bagel that can hold up to a generous schmear without losing its structural integrity. It is a place where tradition meets modern Manhattan life, offering a reliable refuge for anyone seeking comfort food in the middle of a busy workday.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at the counter of Bagel Boss, the "Everything Bagel" with Scallion Cream Cheese is the quintessential choice that rarely disappoints. It showcases the shop's ability to perfectly balance savory seeds and salt with a rich, tangy schmear. If you are feeling more adventurous, the Jalapeño Cheddar bagel provides a bold, spicy kick that pairs beautifully with their smoother cream cheese varieties. For those who enjoy the legendary New York "appetizing" tradition, the Smoked Atlantic Nova Salmon sandwich is a top-tier pick. It comes served with a crisp pickle wedge and a side salad, making it a complete, high-quality meal that highlights their expertise in handling premium smoked fish.
For those visiting with friends who have specific dietary needs, the Multi-Grain Low Carb bagel or the various tofu-based schmears are excellent alternatives that don't compromise on the authentic "chew" of a real bagel. If you are there for lunch, the Murray Hill Panini is a local favorite, packed with grilled vegetables and melted mozzarella, pressed until perfectly crisp. And of course, no visit is complete without grabbing a Black and White cookie for the road—it is the ultimate New York dessert. The locals' best advice? Don’t just buy one bagel for now; stock up with a dozen to take home. These bagels are famous for maintaining their freshness, and you will undoubtedly regret not having a spare in your kitchen for the next morning.
In conclusion, Bagel Boss Murray Hill is more than just another storefront on 3rd Avenue; it is a piece of New York's culinary soul. By staying true to the labor-intensive methods of traditional bagel making while embracing the diverse needs of modern diners, they have created a space that feels both historic and fresh. Whether you are looking for a quick egg sandwich before work or a full spread for a weekend brunch, Bagel Boss delivers with a consistency and scale that is uniquely Manhattan. It is the kind of place that turns first-time visitors into lifelong regulars, one massive bagel at a time.

Bagel Boss Murray Hill is the perfect neighborhood bagel shop — the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular after just one visit. The bagels? Absolutely massive — we’re talking “you could use one as a pillow” big — yet somehow still light, airy, and perfectly chewy. Each bite is a delightful mix of crisp exterior and fluffy interior, proving they’ve mastered the art of the perfect bagel. The variety is fantastic — whether you’re craving a classic everything bagel with cream cheese, a sweet cinnamon raisin, or a bold jalapeño cheddar, there’s something for everyone. Even your gluten-free friend or picky eater will leave happy. The shop itself is spotless, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier — warm smiles, quick service, and always happy to recommend their favorites. It’s the kind of place that feels like part of the community, where locals gather and visitors leave wishing they lived closer. 🥯 Don’t just grab one — you’ll regret it. Stock up for the week because these bagels are too good to last long in your kitchen!

Boss Bagel was underwhelming overall. The bagel itself was very average- dry and more like soft bread than a true New York–style bagel. The cream cheese was good, and the service was prompt and friendly. Sandwiches were okay, but nothing that stood out.

Keep in my mind this place does NOT have meat (has soy bacon/sausage; but it tastes how it sounds). Wanted that to be clear because I didn’t see that directly anywhere. Got a standard breakfast sandwich and the bagel was a good size; standard available options + some other unique ones like egg everything. People seemed kind and the speech of delivery was solid. The price is also favorable compared to other chains where it’s about $7. Only reason for 4 stars is the lack of meat option - which is fine - just not marketed. You could sorta assume based on being a Jewish style place but again, not assuming that.

This is a bagel restaurant located in midtown east of Manhattan. There are a variety of bagels and I got a bag. The bagels are delicious, the staff are nice. Besides bagels, there are also soda and other stuff, which is good for a breakfast or a simple lunch. The price is reasonable.

First-time nosher… Was skeptical, as the bagels looked a little light and maybe underdone. But the bagel was great, with a good chew, and the jalapeño cream cheese was outstanding! Fast, no-nonsense service.
