Rose Bakery Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Nestled within the avant-garde corridors of Dover Street Market, Rose Bakery at 160 Lexington Ave is a sophisticated destination that seamlessly blends the worlds of high fashion and artisanal culinary craft. Originally founded in Paris by Rose Carrarini and her husband Jean-Charles, this New York outpost brings a distinct French-British sensibility to the heart of Manhattan. It serves as a serene "home away from home" for New Yorkers who appreciate a health-conscious yet indulgent approach to dining. Unlike your typical high-volume city bakery, Rose Bakery focuses on a wholesome, simple philosophy where seasonal ingredients are the star of every plate.
The atmosphere at Rose Bakery is one of understated elegance, mirroring the minimalistic and chic aesthetic of the fashion house that hosts it. It has become a beloved "afternoon pit stop" for "style hounds" and locals alike, offering a calm respite from the frantic pace of Lexington Avenue. With its communal tables and stainless steel accents, the space encourages a relaxed, social dining experience. Whether you are there for a refreshing matcha and coffee to break up a shopping excursion or a full meal, the bakery prides itself on delivering creative, "cutsy," and polished presentations that excite the taste buds without being overly heavy. It is a place where quality ingredients and thoughtful service create a truly unique New York experience.
Location and Accessibility
Rose Bakery is located at 160 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10016, specifically on the ground floor of the Dover Street Market building at the corner of 30th Street. This location is situated between the vibrant Kips Bay and Rose Hill neighborhoods, placing it within easy walking distance of the trendy NoMad area and Madison Square Park. Its position in Midtown South makes it a prime spot for local professionals—often referred to as "worker bees"—and fashion enthusiasts looking for a high-quality lunch or tea.
Accessibility is excellent via New York's public transit system. The bakery is just a short walk from the 28th Street and 33rd Street subway stations, served by the 6 train, providing a direct link for those traveling along the Lexington Avenue line. It is also accessible from the N, R, and W lines at the nearby 28th Street-Broadway station. For those who prefer the bus, the M101, M102, and M103 lines run frequently along 3rd and Lexington Avenues. While the entrance within Dover Street Market can sometimes feel exclusive—often guarded by a discreet doorman or security—the bakery itself is welcoming and communal once you step inside. For those driving, street parking is available in the vicinity, though public transport remains the most convenient option for most visitors.

What is worth choosing
When you visit Rose Bakery, the ever-changing menu ensures there is always a new surprise, but certain staples are definitely worth choosing. For a savory start, the seasonal soups, such as the pumpkin soup, are highly recommended for their rich, comforting flavors. If you are there for lunch, the "Assiette de Legumes" (vegetable plate) is a signature experience that allows you to sample the kitchen's mastery of fresh, vibrant produce. For meat-eaters, the pork sausage sandwich on a house-made brioche bun is a hearty and polished choice that pairs perfectly with their house-made pickles.
On the sweet side, your visit would be incomplete without a slice of their famous carrot cake or one of their crisp, golden financiers. These are best paired with their "perfectly made" matcha or a smooth flat white. If you are looking for something unique, keep an eye out for their "cutesy" creative dishes—like their artistically topped lattes or the blueberry donuts which have been praised for their perfect balance of flavors. While the pricing is on the "pricy side," the combination of the high-end setting, the exceptional quality of ingredients, and the professional service makes every choice feel like a well-deserved treat. Whether you are a regular of many years or a first-time visitor adventuring through the store, choosing to sit and chat over a "Pecan Brownie and a tall glass of Mocha" is the ultimate way to experience this Manhattan gem.

Honestly pretty good matcha and coffee, and the food is creative and cutesy. Obv a little bit on the pricy side, but is so nice to sit and chat there while you break up the adventuring of the store.

Chef Gabe's pumpkin soup was EVERYTHING! I've been a regular here for years, and this was by far the best food and service I’ve experienced here.

Small, laid back cafe with an interesting selection. You can order tinned fish, which is fantastic, which they serve with bread, olives and a salad. The coffee is from Sey, and they have a neat little grocery section as well. Well worth a visit.
