NY Bagels & Cafe Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city defined by its high culinary standards and the constant hustle of its residents, finding a reliable neighborhood spot that feels like home is a rare treasure. NY Bagels & Cafe, located in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, is exactly that kind of sanctuary. More than just a simple "bagel shop," this establishment has become a cornerstone of the local community, known for its warm hospitality and a menu that goes far beyond the standard cream cheese smear. Whether you are a healthcare professional at the neighboring medical centers, a local student, or a resident of the East Side, NY Bagels & Cafe offers a comforting blend of classic New York flavors and innovative, hearty meals.
The shop is led by its owner, Su, whose reputation for humility and genuine care for his customers has become part of the brand's identity. This personal touch translates into every aspect of the business, from the meticulously clean and organized interior to the generous portions that define their food philosophy. In New York, where many eateries can feel transactional, NY Bagels & Cafe prides itself on building relationships. Many regulars first discovered the shop during challenging times, such as hospital stays at the nearby NYU Langone, and found solace in the consistent quality and the staff's compassionate service. It is a place where the food is prepared with the intention of nourishing both the body and the spirit.

What is Worth Choosing
If you are looking for the quintessential NY Bagels & Cafe experience, the #11 Pepper Turkey sandwich is a must-try. This sandwich features pepper turkey, cheddar cheese, jalapeño, avocado, onion, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. For the full effect, locals recommend ordering it on the "Jalapeño Crazy Bagel," which adds a spicy kick that perfectly complements the creamy avocado and smoky turkey. It is a flavor-packed, massive sandwich that perfectly illustrates the shop's commitment to bold, satisfying meals.
For those looking for something other than bread, "The Big Back" rice bowl is a legendary choice among regular patrons. Packed with chicken, steak, brown rice, shredded cheese, guacamole, corn, cilantro, grilled onions, and sour cream, it is a meal that can easily last for two sittings. Additionally, their Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup is famous in the neighborhood; it is authentically hot and serves as the perfect remedy for a cold New York winter day. For gluten-sensitive diners, the cinnamon raisin gluten-free bagel is a standout rarity in the city. A local tip: ensure you ask for your gluten-free bagel to be "toasted twice" to achieve the perfect texture. No matter what you choose, a visit to NY Bagels & Cafe is incomplete without a quick "hello" to Su, who makes every customer feel like a part of the family.

Su is the owner of NY Bagels & Cafe. He is such a humble man and and amazing human being. He's one of the nicest, most caring people you'll ever meet, and the quality of the food and the service of the staff portray that as well. They keep a nice, clean, well organized shop that sits directly across from the NYU Kimmel Pavilion. I was a transplant recipient at NYU Langone over the summer, so this is how myself and my family came to know Su. The bagels at NYBC are fresh and the food is absolutely amazing. I've had the pleasure of picking up from there a few times (brunch, lunch, and dinner) and it has not once disappointed. The bagel sandwiches are huge, flavorful, and just hit the spot every time. The first time I ordered one of their rice bowls, I spent the entire day eating it. And don't skimp out on the soup. The Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup is as hot as it's advertised to be. I sweat profusely every single time I eat it (and I LOVE spicy food). Next time you're in Midtown by the East River, I highly recommend stopping in to say "Hi." You can even tell him that I sent you. This place kept me alive while my friend was in the hospital. They have $11 chicken and steak burrito bowls with guac and it’s actually really great. They have 4 flavors of gluten free bagels, including cinnamon raisin!! They have salads, quesadillas, sandwiches, tacos, muffins, and lots of snacks. The one thing is… the gluten free bagels are frozen. When they toast it twice it’s good. When they microwave it it’s BAD. Pls pls toast it twice lol… stop microwaving.
