Bagel Market Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city where the bagel is more than just breakfast—it’s a cultural institution—Bagel Market has carved out a dedicated following among those who know where to look. Located in the shadow of the city's towering financial hubs, the Bagel Market at 168 William St offers an authentic taste of New York that feels remarkably "off the beaten path." While tourists often flock to the more publicized spots in Midtown, local FiDi residents and Pace University students have long relied on this storefront for their morning fix. Bagel Market distinguishes itself by adhering to the rigorous traditions of old-school baking: every bagel is hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, and baked to perfection to ensure that signature "NYC" crunch on the outside and chewy interior.
The vibe at Bagel Market is quintessentially New York—fast-paced yet deeply personal. It serves as a neighborhood cornerstone where the staff is known for their patience and efficiency, even during the legendary morning rush. Whether you are a regular who knows exactly which cream cheese flavor is hitting the rotating sign that day or a first-timer looking for a classic lox spread, the shop provides a professional and friendly environment. With its commitment to high-quality ingredients and a "no shortcuts" approach to baking, Bagel Market remains a premier destination for anyone seeking a genuine, unpretentious New York bagel experience.
Location and Accessibility
Bagel Market is situated at 168 William St, New York, NY 10038, making it a central hub for the lower Manhattan community. Its position on William Street puts it in the immediate vicinity of Pace University and just a few blocks away from the bustling Fulton Street Transit Center. This makes the shop exceptionally accessible via the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J, and Z subway lines, providing a convenient stop for commuters entering or leaving the Financial District.
The shop itself is an intimate space, featuring a cozy seating area with approximately seven tables. This smaller footprint contributes to its charm, offering a respite from the crowded sidewalks of Broadway. For those with limited time, the shop is designed for high-efficiency "grab-and-go" service. During the peak morning hours, the line moves quickly, with most orders fulfilled in approximately five minutes. The bilingual staff (fluent in both English and Spanish) ensures that communication is smooth and inclusive for all visitors. While it may be a small location, its strategic placement near major offices and academic buildings ensures it is a vital part of the local daily routine.

What is Worth Choosing
If you are a first-time visitor to 168 William St, there are a few items that are absolutely worth choosing to get the full Bagel Market experience. The Classic Lox Sandwich is a perennial favorite, but for a local insider tip, try ordering it "open-faced." As noted by regular patrons, this change in preparation highlights the balance between the salty Nova salmon, the rich scallion cream cheese, and the capers, allowing the flavors of the fresh bagel to shine. It is a sophisticated, traditional choice that never disappoints.
For those with a more hearty appetite, the #1 Bacon, Sausage, and Egg Bagel (often referred to as the Vermont or a variation of their "Egg Legends") is a must. While it sits on the pricier end of the spectrum, the generous portions of perfectly crispy bacon and savory sausage make it a formidable meal that will keep you fueled through the busiest of New York mornings. If you are looking for something unique, the Salmon, Avocado & Egg provides a modern, buttery twist on the traditional lox bagel. Regardless of your sandwich choice, be sure to pair it with their house blend coffee—it’s the extra touch of quality that rounds out a perfect Manhattan morning.

Absolutely love this place. Great bagels. Off the beaten path and away from the tourist crowds. This is a small place only 7 tables. The staff are awesome and very patient with the slow folks that order. Great classic lox sandwich. I always get it open faced. It truly changes the flavor profile. Try it. The bacon sausage cheese and egg bagel was over the top yummy! The coffee is not cheap convenience store crap... it's the good stuff.

Pretty nicely located bagel shop with plenty of selection and friendly cashier who speaks English and Spanish fluently. Lots of customer during morning rush but the order comes out relatively quick (approximately 5 minutes). Their iced latte was just okay, didn't really taste great. The food is definitely on the pricier end for certain selections, and for 16 dollars, the bacon, sausage and egg bagel with added cream cheese seemed a bit steep. Although the flavor was great and the bacon cooked perfectly crispy, the cut was far from great as evident in the photo where on one half there was only a sliver of sausage. Bagel Market definitely has potential of being amazing, but some minor improvements are needed to reach greater heights, such as adjusting the price for some items, not rushing the cut to ensure balance, and fixing their signs that aren't that legible from the cream cheese selection as you can see in the photo with the letters falling off. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for reading and best of luck! (:

It was afternoon and I was looking for a bagel place, ChatGPT recommended this place near by my location and it was a great recommendation. I had the simple cream cheese bagel with avocado and it was perfect, tasty, fresh and the portions were amazing. Prices were so good. Tried then the hit chocolate and it was good too.

Very close to oculus or fulton stations - you will see at least 2 prominent bagel shops around this area all over social media which in reality looks like a que of 40 people when all you want is breakfast! If you want good breakfast bagels or wraps, Bagel Market is the go to - quick friendly service, seating if wanted and relaxed atmosphere. Loads of options (BLT was 10/10). Whilst the other two locations might be your thing to try, BM has easily the same quality at a competitive price with nowhere near the carnage ques to get in!

Every time I think I’ve had the best bagel in NYC, another place comes along and proves me wrong — and this one might just take the crown. The only downside? There’s almost no seating. This is a grab-and-go kind of spot, so plan for takeout. Everything here is fresh, fast, and friendly. Prices are solid, service is efficient, and the sheer number of options is almost overwhelming in the best way. The fish was incredibly fresh, the dough perfectly chewy. It’s the kind of breakfast that just makes you happy. Honestly, I’m running out of new ways to compliment bagels in NYC. I love it here and it’s thanks to places like this, and the people behind them, that make it feel so special.
