Patis Bakery Introduce
In the high-velocity environment of New York City’s Financial District, finding a quiet corner that serves world-class pastries is a victory for any local professional or resident. Patis Bakery, located at 160 Broadway, New York, NY 10038, has quickly become that essential retreat. Since its inception, Patis has set out to redefine the "kosher bakery" experience, moving away from traditional expectations and toward a sophisticated, French-inspired culinary identity. The result is a boutique cafe that marries European pastry techniques with the diverse, "melting pot" energy of Lower Manhattan. For those navigating the skyscraper-lined corridors near Wall Street, Patis represents a commitment to high-quality, real ingredients and an elevated dining experience that stands out in the neighborhood.
The philosophy at Patis Bakery is rooted in the belief that everyone—regardless of dietary observance—deserves access to an authentic, buttery croissant or a perfectly proofed loaf of sourdough. As an OU-certified dairy establishment, the bakery adheres to strict Kosher standards (Cholov Yisroel and Pas Yisroel), yet its appeal is universal. The modern, clean aesthetic of the shop invites patrons to step away from the bustle of Broadway and descend into a space where the aroma of toasted pecans and fresh espresso takes center stage. Whether you are a local office worker looking for a reliable morning meeting spot or a foodie on a quest for the city’s best s'mores pastry, Patis delivers a level of craftsmanship that rivals the finest non-kosher patisseries in the city.
Location and Accessibility
Patis Bakery is perfectly situated at 160 Broadway, right in the primary artery of the Financial District. This prime location makes it an ideal stop for those working at the nearby World Trade Center, the New York Stock Exchange, or the surrounding federal buildings. One unique feature of this specific location is its "hidden gem" quality; customers go downstairs from the street level to access the store. This subterranean layout helps create a sense of exclusivity and calm, insulating the dining area from the heavy street traffic above.
In terms of transit, 160 Broadway is perhaps one of the most accessible addresses in the five boroughs. The bakery is located just steps away from the Fulton Center, a massive transit hub providing access to nearly every major subway line, including the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J, Z, and R trains. This means that whether you are commuting from Brooklyn, the Upper West Side, or Jersey City via the PATH, Patis is likely on your route. The shop is also a short walk from the Wall Street ferry terminal and numerous Citi Bike stations, making it a convenient destination for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Its central position makes it a natural gathering point for the diverse community of "FiDi" locals who value quality and convenience in equal measure.
Services Offered
Patis Bakery operates as a full-service cafe and artisanal bakery, catering to various needs throughout the day. Their offerings are designed to provide both a quick "grab-and-go" solution and a leisurely "sit-down" experience. Key services include:

Features / Highlights
What distinguishes Patis from the sea of generic coffee chains in Manhattan is its dedication to specific culinary "pillars." Local regulars frequently highlight these features as the reason for their loyalty:
- OU Kosher Certification: Providing peace of mind for kosher-observant diners while maintaining a quality level that attracts a secular "foodie" following.
- Knowledgeable and Friendly Staff: Guests often mention specific staff members by name, noting that the team is "very knowledgeable" about the ingredients and provides excellent, professional service.
- Unique Flavor Combinations: Highlights include the "Bumble Bee Frappe" (espresso, cinnamon, vanilla, honey) and the "Spicy Salmon Banh Mi," showcasing a creative approach to traditional recipes.
- Pristine Environment: The shop is consistently praised for being "neat and clean," offering a polished atmosphere that matches its upscale menu.
- Exceptional Bread Quality: The bakery uses long-fermentation processes for its sourdough, resulting in a crust and crumb that many locals describe as "on a different level."
- Pet-Friendly and Professional: A welcoming vibe that balances the high standards of a French bakery with the approachable friendliness of a neighborhood cafe.

What is worth choosing
When you visit Patis Bakery at 160 Broadway, the most essential "choice" is their signature Almond Croissant. Known for its fluffy interior, generous filling, and a perfectly crunchy topping of toasted almonds, it is widely considered a benchmark for French pastry in the area. For those looking for something even more indulgent, the "s'mores pastry"—complete with toasted homemade marshmallow—is a local favorite that perfectly balances nostalgia with high-end execution. If you prefer a savory start to your day, the "Lox Croissant" (featuring everything bagel seasoning, garlic pickles, and pickled onions) is a masterclass in flavor balancing.
For a midday meal, it is highly worth choosing the Tunisian Tuna Sandwich or the "Melting Cow" panini, both of which highlight the bakery’s exceptional sourdough bread. To drink, the "Cinnamon Toast Latte" (espresso, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and honey) offers a warm, comforting flavor profile that pairs beautifully with their larger-than-life chocolate cookies. Whether you are grabbing a giant chocolate-walnut-toffee cookie to go or sitting down for a bowl of their creamy potato leek soup, choosing Patis means choosing a superior standard of freshness. In a neighborhood where everything is fast and often impersonal, the patient craft and "different level" food at Patis Bakery provide a truly refreshing New York experience.
Ultimately, Patis Bakery at 160 Broadway stands as a testament to what a modern city bakery can be. It is a place where tradition meets innovation, and where every customer is treated with the same warmth and professionalism. For the best in kosher French baking in the heart of the city, there is no better destination.

You go downstairs to access the store. Staff are excellent at this bakery! I really enjoyed the giant chocolate cookie and the s'mores pastry. Stop in to grab some treats to go, or sit in the dining area.

Its in a basement with 1 or if you are lucky 2 people working. Took 30 mins for one americano, and burnt my croissant instead of warming

I am vegetarian and u can’t find many places with menu items that don’t contain chicken or other meat, so their vast variety of options really excited me, and the food, especially the soups were both amazing! The barista girl is also so sweet
