Bagels Plus Introduce
In the competitive world of New York City breakfast spots, finding a truly authentic experience often requires venturing off the beaten path. For those in the know, Bagels Plus in Flushing, Queens, is widely considered one of the best-kept secrets in the five boroughs. While Manhattan may grab the headlines with trendy brunch spots, the real magic of the New York bagel tradition lives in neighborhood establishments like this one. Bagels Plus has built a dedicated following by adhering to time-honored techniques that result in a product that purists and long-time residents recognize as the gold standard of baking.
Located in the heart of the 11365-zip code, Bagels Plus serves a community that demands quality and consistency. In a city where you have been able to find a bagel on nearly every corner for the past 30 years, this shop stands out by refusing to take shortcuts. It is an unpretentious, high-performing establishment that focuses on the craft of the bagel above all else. For local New Yorkers, it is the kind of "go-to" spot that defines a morning routine, offering a sensory experience that begins with the smell of fresh dough and ends with the perfect, chewy bite.
What sets Bagels Plus apart from the vast majority of competitors is their commitment to the traditional "boil and bake" method. This process is the hallmark of a genuine New York bagel, providing the distinct crust and interior texture that machine-made or steamed bagels simply cannot replicate. By maintaining these old-school standards, the shop has earned its reputation as an underrated gem that many fans believe is ready for much larger success.

What is Worth Choosing
If you are visiting Bagels Plus for the first time, you absolutely must choose one of their fresh bagels with a simple schmear to truly appreciate the craftsmanship. The egg bagel is a particular standout; regulars often note its incredible texture and ability to stay fresh much longer than standard store-bought varieties. To take the experience to the next level, arrive early in the morning and ask to have your bagel toasted. Unlike the standard toaster used in many shops, they will often toast it face-down in their actual baking oven, which creates a crunch and flavor profile that is truly unique.
For those with a larger appetite, the breakfast sandwiches are a reliable and hearty choice. While the platters are available, many locals suggest that getting your eggs and meat on a roll or one of their signature bagels is the most cost-effective way to enjoy a massive meal. The ingredients are consistently fresh, and the sheer volume of bagels produced daily ensures that you are never getting a stale product.
Finally, if you are hosting an event in Queens, their catering services are worth choosing. Bringing a taste of an "underrated hidden gem" to your guests is a great way to showcase local expertise. Whether you are grabbing a quick coffee and a bagel on your way to work or sitting down for a full breakfast, Bagels Plus provides a professional, authentic, and delicious experience that reminds you why New York is the bagel capital of the world. It is a location that values the "secret" in the recipe and the smile at the counter, ensuring that every customer leaves satisfied and ready to return.

It is one of the best kept secrets in Queens and a top performer, in my opinion, in the 5 boroughs in New York when it comes to bagels. I've been to enough bagel spots throughout New York and out of state for the past 30 years to back my opinion on this establishment, and I have to say this is hands down my go to spot when it comes to bagels. The reason is how they are made. I have been there enough times now to watch the process but probably missing the secrets involved. 1. Once they made the doe and shape of the bagel, which is all I house, they then dump them all into a huge (seems like a 100 gallon) commercial barrel of boiling water. 2. Once they start floating to the top, they then fish them out with a strainer one by one. 3. They are then put on wet wooden blocks about 5 or so on a block that are then placed into an old school rotating oven. 4. Once ready, they pull out the wooden block with the freshly done bagels on them, and then, from the oven to the baskets, they go right in front of the customer. The ingredients they use are amazing because the taste is amazing. One more thing I will say why I constantly choose this place over others is the shelf life of their bagels. I am a big egg bagel fan, and their egg bagels can literally last me up to a week and still stay soft after day 4 or 5 with no mold growing on them. If you get there early enough in the morning and want a toasted bagel, they will toast it in their oven, face down, which takes the bagel taste experience to another level. They also make all kinds of catering, sandwiches and other delicacies. This place is so underrated and such a hidden gem in Queens that if they actually got their own dedicated place outside of the shopping center they would do phenomenal and probably would be able to open many stores from them in the form of franchising. That is how much confidence I have in this place and the amazing bagels they serve up fresh daily. Hope this store never goes away.

The new place looks beautiful and the food and bagels are the best. The service is even better. You should definitely check this place out.

Such a rip off-$12 for this very few little pieces of chicken. Food does not taste good also. Pricy and no taste. Not coming back here. Don’t waste your money! It was less expensive and bette taste with previous owner!

Even being in an unassuming location, in a random shopping plaza- this bagel spot is my favorite. I've done the NYC favorites like H & H, Zuckers, Zabars... but I just love the bagels here. The texture is just the way I like them. A bit of a crust on the outside, soft and fluffy with just the right amount of chewiness on the inside. Lightly toasted or not, it always hits the spot. Love the sweet rolls/ challah rolls also. Soft and fresh. If you happen to be there when a fresh batch has just been made, you'll end up grabbing more than you came for. They make their Everything bagels the best. Most places skimp on the Everything seasoning but not here. This is what an Everything Bagel should look like. The system to order hot breakfast items is bad though which can add a much longer than normal wait time. The front of the house staff go to the back to prepare it leaving the front of the house empty. So waiting to order something simple like a bagel to go can lead to long lines and a big wait! They should have a dedicated person in the back to make the hot items leaving the front staffed for the simple items. Still my go to bagel spot though in this area.
