Introduction / Overview
In the heart of the historic Greenwich Village, where the artistic spirit of New York City meets the academic energy of the NYU campus, Colomba Bakery has established itself as a cherished neighborhood staple. As a professional provider of artisanal baked goods and premium coffee, Colomba Bakery strikes a perfect balance between a high-end European-style cafe and a friendly New York storefront. The shop is widely recognized by residents for its "super friendly staff," who have cultivated an environment that is as welcoming to students and professionals as it is to the neighborhood's four-legged companions. In a city where cafes can often feel transactional and hurried, Colomba stands out by prioritizing the human connection, offering a space where the quality of the service matches the excellence of the menu. Whether you are starting your morning with a fresh pastry or seeking a mid-afternoon retreat, Colomba Bakery offers an authentic slice of Greenwich Village charm.

What is worth choosing
When you find yourself at Colomba Bakery, the most essential choice is to lean into the neighborhood favorites that have made this shop a "much recommended" destination. Start with their coffee program; whether you prefer a robust espresso or a smooth, expertly brewed drip coffee, the quality here is consistent and top-tier. Regulars often highlight the coffee as a standout feature, pairing perfectly with the "warm and cozy" atmosphere of the shop. It is the kind of coffee that invites you to stay a while and soak in the Village energy.
Beyond the beverages, the artisanal baked goods are the heart of the experience. Choosing a freshly baked croissant or a seasonal pastry is a must, as these items are crafted to provide that perfect balance of flaky texture and rich flavor. Because the shop is a "local" favorite, following the lead of the residents is always a wise strategy—look for the daily specials or the items that seem to be disappearing quickly from the display case. If you are a dog owner, Colomba is perhaps one of the most "worth choosing" spots in the area; the staff’s welcoming attitude toward pets makes it more than just a bakery—it’s a social community. Bringing your dog along for a "much recommended" morning visit is the quintessential way to experience the charm of Colomba. Choosing Colomba Bakery means choosing a moment of genuine New York hospitality, exceptional coffee, and a warmth that lingers long after you’ve finished your last bite of pastry.
For those looking to fully embrace the 10003 lifestyle, a visit to Colomba is incomplete without taking your treats to go and enjoying them on a bench in Washington Square Park. The combination of high-quality artisanal baking and the iconic surroundings of Greenwich Village creates an experience that is uniquely and beautifully New York. It is a destination where quality, comfort, and community meet on every plate and in every cup.

Very cozy coffee shop. We each got an oath milk draft latte and it was phenomenal. The croissants are super fresh and the panini had excellent ingredients and it was very fresh. A must if you are around Washington Square.

Great location for the NYU students. They serve coffee from the beans roasted by Colombe. The two staff behind the counter were very nice. Overall, the place has a clean interior. The food is decent here. You can either get pastries for your coffee or have a small lunch like spinach pie.

Nice, regular place for pastries and sandwiches. Limited space to sit. The staff was friendly! 🥪I had the savory one with cheese, egg, and spinach in it, and I recommend this one a lot. There was a crispy layer on the top with soft bread at the bottom. Bomboloni was ok. The taste was a little bit dull but eatable.
