The Donut Pub Introduce
In a city that is constantly reinventing itself, there are few places that manage to preserve the authentic soul of New York while keeping pace with modern tastes. The Donut Pub is one of those rare gems. Since it first opened its doors in 1964, this iconic establishment has been a cornerstone of the New York City dessert scene. For locals in the Broadway area and visitors trekking through Manhattan, it represents more than just a quick sugar fix; it is a piece of living history. Walking into The Donut Pub feels like stepping back into a golden era of New York dining, where the atmosphere is warm, the service is personal, and the quality of the food is never up for debate.
The Donut Pub has built a legendary reputation over the last sixty years by refusing to compromise on the fundamental principles of baking. While many trendy shops focus on flashy aesthetics over substance, The Donut Pub prioritizes freshness and flavor above all else. Every bite reflects a commitment to traditional techniques that have been perfected over decades. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker who remembers the shop from your childhood or a newcomer looking for the ultimate "melt-in-your-mouth" experience, this shop offers a nostalgic yet high-quality culinary journey that stands out in the competitive landscape of the Big Apple.

What is Worth Choosing
Deciding what to order at The Donut Pub can be a delightful challenge due to the sheer volume of choices. However, for those who want the quintessential experience, the "Old Fashioned" is a mandatory starting point. It serves as the benchmark for their quality; it is simple, perfectly textured, and highlights the freshness that has kept the shop in business for over half a century. If you are looking for something more indulgent, the chocolate-dipped donuts offer a rich, velvety coating that pairs perfectly with their light, airy dough.
For those who enjoy a modern twist, the specialty Tiramisu donut is frequently cited as a standout, offering sophisticated flavor profiles that go beyond standard sugar glazes. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the 60+ varieties, the mini donuts are highly recommended. They allow you to curate a personal tasting flight of fillings and frostings, which is especially helpful if you are visiting with friends. While the shop is famous for its pastries, the hot drip coffee remains a reliable companion to the sweet treats. However, seasoned patrons often suggest sticking to the traditional hot brews to best complement the richness of the donuts. Whether you are after a savory-leaning croissant donut or a classic sprinkles-covered ring, The Donut Pub ensures that every choice is a testament to the art of the donut.
The Donut Pub remains a "must-visit" for anyone in the New York region. It captures a specific magic—the ability to serve everyone from a ten-year-old child in "heaven" to a busy professional looking for a nostalgic comfort food. Its commitment to variety, dietary inclusivity, and the timeless diner atmosphere makes it a standout destination in the 10003 area. When you visit 740 Broadway, you aren't just buying a donut; you are supporting a legacy of New York craftsmanship that has remained vibrant and delicious for sixty years.

The Donut Pub has been in NYC since the 1960s, and the donuts taste like they have never compromised on quality for the last sixty years. These are literally the freshest-tasting donuts I’ve had in NYC: they melt in your mouth. I stuck with a few different flavors of mini donuts so that I could enjoy multiple flavors at the same time. That said, they have tons of creatively flavored donuts, croissant donuts and cake donuts. It will be a tough decision, especially if you like a variety of fillings and frostings. Also very cute old school diner vibes—would be a great place to catch up with a friend.

Variety is the spice of life and boy does this place preach that. The Broadway location had at least 60 donut varieties, including gluten free abc vegan options, which made it a great place for everyone. From sweet to savory they had it all, and the staff wasn’t afraid to let you take your time to decide. The employees were also efficient, making sure the store didn’t get too crowded but also making if a fun space for kiddos. There was a 10 year old who looked like she was in heaven and the staff were just as excited about that as she was about the treats. Me and my friend got three donuts, two coffees. We tried the old fashioned, the chocolate dipped donut and the tiramisu special donut. All were amazing. We also tried the drip coffee and a cold brew with milk and vanilla. The iced coffee was horrible. It tasted sour, almost like vodka. The design was fun and felt like a donut bar but the iced coffee was not the thing to get.

Apple Cider Cake: Driest donut I’ve had and minimum apple cider flavor (1/5) Honey Dipped: Better but still dry (2/5) Cappuccino: Great Flavor (4/5) Pumpkin Spice Cake: more flavorful than apple cider, but just as dry (1/5) The service was good, but was definitely disappointing to pay $14 for basically all bad donuts

The Donut Pub which has been in business ( on West 14th Street) since 1964, recently opened a second location on Broadway just off Astor Place. They have phenomenal and delicious donuts and were recently rated NUMBER 1 in New York City for their black and white cookies. They have a wonderful staff and I want to give a shout out to Benjamin, who not only helped me create a fantastic instagram video but also encouraged me to try some fabulous donuts!!
