Funny Face Bakery Introduce
When it comes to the competitive world of New York City bakeries, it takes something truly "insane" to stand out, and Funny Face Bakery has managed to do just that. Located in the historic and revitalized Seaport District of Lower Manhattan, this bakery has transformed from a viral sensation into a local staple for anyone with a serious sweet tooth. Known for a whimsical approach to baking that doesn't compromise on gourmet quality, Funny Face Bakery offers a unique dual experience: they are world-renowned for their meticulously hand-painted custom "face" cookies, but they have also earned a reputation among locals for producing some of the thickest, gooiest, and most satisfying 6-ounce cookies in the five boroughs.
For New Yorkers, a bakery isn't just a place to buy bread; it’s a destination for an experience. Funny Face Bakery captures the playful spirit of the city while maintaining a professional standard of baking that rivals the most established institutions. Whether you are a local professional looking for a mid-day pick-me-up or a resident of the 10038 area seeking a show-stopping dessert for a party, this shop provides a colorful, high-energy atmosphere that is quintessentially "New York." The bakery has become a favorite for those who appreciate the intersection of pop culture and pastry art, often featuring cookies that mirror current trends, celebrities, and even memes.
Location and Accessibility
Funny Face Bakery is perfectly situated at 6 Fulton St, New York, NY 10038, USA. This location puts it right at the gateway to the Seaport District, one of the most picturesque and walkable neighborhoods in Manhattan. The shop is housed in a charming building that fits perfectly with the cobblestone streets and maritime history of the area. For locals, the Seaport offers a refreshing break from the skyscraper-dense Financial District, making a trip to Funny Face Bakery a scenic excursion as much as a shopping trip.
In terms of accessibility, the bakery is highly reachable via a variety of New York transit options. It is a short walk from the Fulton Street Station, one of the city's largest transit hubs, which services the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J, and Z trains. This makes it a convenient stop for commuters from Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Uptown Manhattan alike. Additionally, the NYC Ferry terminal at Wall Street/Pier 11 is just a few blocks away, providing a unique and breezy way to access the shop from the East River routes. For those already in Lower Manhattan, the bakery is an easy walk from Wall Street, the World Trade Center, and the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian path, ensuring it remains a central point for both foot traffic and transit users.

What is worth choosing
If you are stepping into Funny Face Bakery for the first time, there are a few items that are absolutely worth choosing. For the traditionalist, the classic Chocolate Chip cookie is a must. It is a massive, warm masterpiece that locals frequently compare to—and often rank above—other legendary New York cookie institutions. Its perfect balance of high-quality chocolate and a dough that isn't cloyingly sweet makes it a "take-home" favorite for many. Similarly, the Oreo cookie option is highly recommended for those who enjoy a bit of crunch and creaminess integrated into a soft-baked base.
However, the real "dark horse" winner at Funny Face Bakery is the Vegan Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip cookie. In a city where dietary-restricted treats can often feel like a compromise, this version is a revelation. It has earned a loyal following from customers who claim it is "superior to Levain’s version," maintaining the signature thickness and gooey center that defines the brand. For those looking for something a bit more nostalgic, the crispy rice cereal-inspired cookie offers a unique texture that is perfect for sharing. And of course, no visit is complete without admiring—or commissioning—a custom face cookie. Whether you are treating yourself on your first night in NYC or looking for a memorable gift before you leave, choosing Funny Face Bakery ensures you are getting a 10/10 experience that is truly unique to the Seaport District. It is the kind of place that warrants a return visit "before leaving NYC," as many satisfied customers can attest.

Literally insane. I single handedly finished the vegan gluten free chocolate chip cookie in one sitting. THIS VERSION IS SUPERIOR TO LEVAIN’S VERSION. I got the crispy rice cereal inspired cookie too but didn’t eat so much plus it was for my boyfriend.

First night that I arrived at NYC & we had these cookies. They were very delicious and warm. The chocolate chip cookie & Oreo cookie were not extremely sweet. Just perfect for my taste. Definitely went back to purchase more before we left NYC to take some home. Truly recommend these cookies & the best in my book.

I got the chocolate chip cookie which was one of the best ones I’ve ever had. The cookie was warm when I got it and very soft but still crunchy. There was so much chocolate in it too which was a little bit messy though because it was melting😅 however I can “only” give 4 stars because I think 7$ ( plus tax ) is just too much for a cookie

🍪 Visited Funny Face Bakery today and got the chocolate chip cookie — sooo good! Amanda was my server and she was the sweetest. It’s such a cute, posh little spot with fun animated cookies and giant soft ones too. They even offer milk at an affordable price and do custom orders! Loved the cozy seating area. They also have another location in SoHo — highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a sweet treat! 💕✨

I came in excited to try the banana pudding, but was immediately disappointed—the first bite had rubbery banana chunks that didn’t feel like a frozen texture. I kept eating hoping it was just one piece, but every chunk had that same rubbery bite, giving the same feeling as when you eat eggs and suddenly hit an eggshell—instant ick. I mentioned it to the friendly lady at the register, who was super kind and quickly offered to swap it for another pudding. Unfortunately, the replacement still had the same rubbery pieces. The lighting inside is also really bad, which makes the space feel a bit off. On the bright side, the s’more cookie was the star of the show—perfectly gooey and flavorful. I’ll definitely come back to try more cookie flavors, but I’ll skip the banana pudding next time.
