Funny Face Bakery Introduce
In a city where cookie culture is taken as seriously as the stock market, standing out requires more than just a good recipe; it requires a distinct personality. Funny Face Bakery, located in the heart of the NoHo neighborhood, has managed to capture the hearts (and social media feeds) of New Yorkers by doing exactly that. Positioned as America’s first "pop culture bakery," this shop has gained legendary status not just for its indulgent, softball-sized "Gooey" cookies, but for its artistic flair. From hand-painted celebrity portraits on sugar cookies to seasonal collaborations that set the internet ablaze, Funny Face Bakery offers a playful, high-energy take on the traditional dessert shop that feels perfectly aligned with the spirit of Manhattan.
Stepping into the shop at 319 Lafayette Street, visitors are met with a "posh little spot" that manages to feel both exclusive and welcoming. The atmosphere is vibrant and modern, often described as having a cute, boutique-like charm that makes it a favorite for gift-shoppers and sugar-seekers alike. The bakery has built its reputation on a "hot take" that many locals are willing to defend: that they serve the absolute best chocolate chip cookies in the city. By focusing on a "soft-baked" philosophy, the shop ensures that every bite delivers a contrast of textures that many other establishments struggle to replicate. Whether you are a lifelong resident or just passing through the Village area, Funny Face Bakery has established itself as a mandatory stop on any New York culinary itinerary.

What is Worth Choosing
For a first-time visitor, the "Chocolate Chip Cookie" is the non-negotiable choice. Even if you aren't a traditional chocolate chip enthusiast, the combination of half-molten chips and ooey-gooey dough is designed to win over any skeptic. It is the gold standard by which all other cookies in the city are measured. If you have a dietary restriction, do not hesitate to choose the "Gluten-Free Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie"—it is a massive, delicious treat that has been described as a "lottery win" for the gluten-free community.
If you are looking for something more adventurous, the "S’mores Cookie" is a standout highlight. It features a perfect combination of soft toasted marshmallow and crunchy graham cracker that offers pure satisfaction. For those who enjoy nostalgic flavors, the cereal-inspired "Crispy Mallow Crunch" pairs perfectly with a cold glass of milk. During the holiday season, the Baileys collaboration cookies, such as the "Baileys Hot Cocoa," are absolute must-buys; they are chunky, slightly boozy, and guaranteed to impress guests at any gathering. Finally, if you are looking to commemorate a special occasion, their "Cuties" (bite-sized versions of their flavors) or their world-famous custom face cookies are the ultimate choice for a memorable New York souvenir.
Funny Face Bakery has managed to do something rare in the NYC dessert scene: they’ve created a product that tastes as good as it looks. Whether you’re there for the gooey center of a chocolate chip masterpiece or the artistic brilliance of a custom portrait, you’re in for a treat that truly captures the creative spirit of NoHo.

NYC hot take: Funny Face Bakery makes the BEST chocolate chip cookies in the city and I will die on this hill. Crunchy edges, gooey center, and the perfect chocolate chip ratio. They fully stole my heart. And don’t sleep on their holiday collab with Baileys. Stock up on these chunky, boozy cookies for the holidays to impress your guests at a party. *Baileys Hot Cocoa ** *Baileys Peppermint Mocha Martini Two holiday limited flavors — it’s a crime not to finish the baileys hot cocoa cookie in one sitting. The baileys peppermint mocha martini is slightly minty without being overpowering *Chocolate Chip Cookie ** Crunchy edges, ooey-gooey dough, and half-molten chocolate chips that were criminally good. And coming from someone who isn’t even the biggest chocolate chip cookie fan, this one had my whole heart. *S’mores Cookie I failed the dramatic marshmallow pull, but the combo of soft toasted marshmallow and crunchy graham cracker was pure satisfaction. *Crispy Mallow Crunch I was recommended to try this cereal-inspired cookie. I could absolutely imagine how good this would be with a glass of milk. *Ginger Spice Cuties I just wish they had this flavor in a regular size. I liked the bite size but the cuties were a bit firmer compared to the others.

Best soft baked gluten free chocolate chip cookie I've had. Actually delicious. It's huge. When you eat a limited diet and see people enjoying pastries, it gets depressing. Finding safe food that's also delicious is like winning the lottery. Recommend 10/10

Pretty disappointed in the Bailey's peppermint cookie. It didn't taste like either one. It tasted like coffee grounds? I guess it was good that it wasnt too sweet like other cookie places but I did expect more from this. The atmosphere and everything was nice but not worth my 6.50

Super cute little shop showcasing tons of intricately decorated cookies! The chunky cookies are also amazing - favorite was the oatmeal chocolate chip

The gluten free cookie is good. It’s good. It’s taste pretty gluten free. I think if it was $2 cheaper I’d be more enthusiastic. But a $7 cookie is quite a steep price. That said, they’re warm. Come with plenty of chocolate chips. And I’m super happy they offer a gf option. The banana chip (non-gluten free) cookie was good but nothing too special. Their fancy decorated $13 cookies are cool!
