Harbs SoHo Introduce
Nestled on a picturesque corner of West Broadway in the heart of Manhattan’s most fashionable district, Harbs SoHo represents the perfect marriage of Japanese precision and New York sophistication. Since its arrival in the city, this renowned Japanese export has redefined the local dessert landscape by staying true to its roots: delivering cakes that are remarkably light, fluffy, and characterized by a delicate sweetness that allows the natural flavors of fresh fruit and premium cream to take center stage. For residents of SoHo and the surrounding neighborhoods, Harbs is not just a bakery; it is a refined sanctuary where the art of the "Japanese-style" cake is celebrated with every hand-cut slice.
The Harbs experience is built on a foundation of absolute freshness. Unlike many high-volume bakeries, Harbs prides itself on the fact that its cakes are never frozen, ensuring that the moisture and texture of the sponge remain at their peak. This dedication to quality extends to the atmosphere of the SoHo location, which features soaring ceilings, large windows that flood the space with natural light, and a clean, minimal interior that reflects a modern Japanese aesthetic. Whether you are stopping in for a quiet solo break, a sophisticated date, or a family lunch, the environment at Harbs SoHo provides a tranquil escape from the urban energy outside, making it a beloved destination for those who appreciate the finer details of culinary craftsmanship.
Location and Accessibility
Harbs SoHo is ideally located at 465 W Broadway, New York, NY 10012, situated between West Houston Street and Prince Street. This prime location puts the bakery at the epicenter of SoHo’s world-class shopping and art galleries, making it a convenient refueling station for locals and visitors alike. The storefront is easily recognizable and fits seamlessly into the historic cast-iron architecture of the neighborhood, offering a spacious layout that is significantly larger than previous New York locations, which typically results in manageable wait times during off-peak hours.
Accessibility via public transportation is excellent, serving as a major draw for New Yorkers from all boroughs. The shop is a short walk from the Prince Street station (N, R, W trains) and the Broadway-Lafayette Street station (B, D, F, M lines). Additionally, the Houston Street station (1 train) and the Spring Street station (C, E trains) are within close proximity. For those who prefer to navigate the city on foot, the walk from Washington Square Park is less than ten minutes. While street parking in SoHo is notoriously difficult, the bakery’s location is perfectly suited for pedestrians who are already exploring the vibrant streets of Lower Manhattan.

What is worth choosing
If you are a first-time visitor to Harbs SoHo, the Fresh Fruit Mille Crepes are widely considered a "must-have." This signature dish is the embodiment of the Harbs philosophy, featuring delicate layers of crepes and airy cream interspersed with generous chunks of ripe strawberry, kiwi, and banana. For those who prefer a more traditional sponge, the Strawberry Cake is a quintessential Japanese classic—fine, fluffy sponge cake paired with smooth whipped cream and the freshest strawberries available. During the cooler months, the Marron Cake, with its nutty chestnut and sweet potato cream infused with a hint of rum, offers a rich and satisfying alternative.
Beyond the dessert case, the Lunch Prix Fixe is arguably the best value in SoHo. For a set price (usually around $28–$30), you can enjoy a full meal that includes a hearty main like the Lemon & Parmigiano pasta or the savory Chicken & Mushroom Omurice. This set is particularly beloved because it includes a generous slice of cake, allowing you to sample the bakery's famous sweets as part of a balanced meal. To accompany your selection, the Cappuccino is highly recommended for its smooth, aromatic finish, or you might opt for the Muscat Jasmine tea, which is blended in Japan to perfectly cut through the richness of the cream. Whether you are there for the full prix fixe or just a slice of the Strawberry Chocolate cake, Harbs SoHo offers a level of quality and care that makes it a standout in the New York bakery scene.

A bakery that stays true to its Japanese roots, delivering light, fluffy cakes with just the right touch of sweetness. Every flavor shines, and the variety of textures makes each bite enjoyable and thoughtfully crafted. The cappuccino is impressively done as well—smooth, aromatic, and the perfect companion to the cakes. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I just love Harbs! I am a Japan style fan and they do it like that. The price fixe set comes with salad, main dish (either pasta or sandwich) today’s cake (strawberry cake is delicious & a must have if you like strawberries) it also includes a cup of coffee or black tea for $28-30. My kids and I usually get the lemon & Parmigiano pasta with the prix fixe. A La carte is also available, fresh cake, a quiet enough environment for a good conversation or a date.

Food was excellent. Prices were a little high but not too bad. Portions were great even the prix fixe that we had came with a good size, and very tasty, salad, plentiful main course and a reasonable size of cake. Tea was lovely, disappointing to me the tea was not a refill but the water was free flowing and never allowed to get empty! The Japanese washlets in the bathrooms are fantastic and I still cannot believe they are not everywhere!

This was my first time trying Korean pastries, and overall it was a nice discovery. While it’s not necessarily my favorite type of pastry, I did enjoy what I tried and found the flavors interesting and well executed. That said, the experience felt a bit restrictive. If you choose to eat on site, each person is required to order something, and considering the relatively high prices, that felt a bit disappointing. The pastries were good, but not exceptional enough to fully justify the price point in my opinion. The atmosphere was rather cold and not very cozy, but the biggest positive was definitely the kindness of the staff, who were very pleasant and welcoming. Overall, a decent experience for discovering Korean pastries, but not a must-visit for me.

Must try!! Expensive spot, for a cake and a tea you pay around 30$ including tip. However!! Well worth it! If you hesitate, I can assure you, go try it! It is delicious!! Try the fresh fruit cake, Mille crepe or just anything really. My fav is the grape jasmine tea in a pot
