What is worth choosing
When you visit Guyana's Choice Bakery, the first thing you should look for is their selection of fresh breads. The bread here is a standout for many local users because it achieves that difficult balance of a soft, pillowy interior with a slight, structured crust on the outside. This makes it incredibly versatile, whether you are using it for a sandwich or simply enjoying it warm with butter. Because they bake throughout the day, the bread often retains its freshness much longer than supermarket alternatives, providing that genuine "bakery-fresh" experience that New Yorkers crave.
For those interested in traditional Guyanese sweets, the Salara (Red Cake) and various other filled pastries are staples of the shop. While quality can occasionally vary, a fresh batch of Salara offers a beautiful spiral of red-coconut filling that is a visual and flavorful delight. Additionally, the bakery offers a range of savory snacks that are perfect for anyone looking to "fuel up" during a busy day in Queens. These items often feature traditional seasonings that provide a savory kick without being overwhelming. Many regulars recommend checking with the staff to see what has most recently come out of the oven to ensure you are getting the absolute peak of the day's production.
Lastly, it is worth exploring the traditional Caribbean treats that are not typically found in standard American bakeries. These items provide a unique taste of the West Indies right in the middle of Richmond Hill. Whether you are a local who grew up with these flavors or a visitor looking to try something new, the "homestyle" quality of Guyana's Choice Bakery makes it a noteworthy stop. By focusing on these traditional items and appreciating the efficient, friendly service, you can enjoy a true slice of Caribbean life on 101st Avenue. It is a solid neighborhood spot that continues to serve the diverse needs of the South Richmond Hill community with pride and tradition.

Guyana's Choice Bakery in Richmond Hill is a solid neighborhood spot if you're looking for fresh Caribbean baked goods and snacks. They have a really nice selection of pastries, breads, and traditional Guyanese style treats. Everything tasted fresh, and you can tell they bake throughout the day because the items were soft and flavorful.I tried a few different things and nothing disappointed. The pastries weren't overly sweet, which I appreciated, and the bread had that perfect balance of being soft inside with a slight crust on the outside. It definitely gives you that authentic, homestyle bakery feel. The staff was friendly and efficient, even when it got a little busy. It's one of those places you can stop into quickly, grab a few things, and know you're getting good quality every time. If you're in Richmond Hill and craving Caribbean baked goods, this spot is worth checking out.

I buy coconut water and cane juice here. Their stuff is good but the old guy with the glasses robs people. They tell you $5 for a coconut. I told him i want 4 coconut he filled two containers with was only 3 coconut and charged me $20. The other guy gives you 4 coconut regardless of how many contain it fills.

The bakery is infested with rats I saw two run out the room behind the cashier I guess the room where they make the bread and other pastries. I was paying for my bread and pastries and saw it and told the casher nevermind and walked out. I've been coming here for years and I'm in shocked. Do not come here!! This place is very disgusting and nasty. They also sell everything very expensive compared to Liberty. Go there rather than coming here.

I normally would buy bread from here every week but never again. I went about half an hour before closing on 5/23/2019 to buy bread. There was not a lot of bread items left so I bought one pan bread, a pack of tennis roll, and the only three single butterflaps they had left. When I went home I saw the pan bread had a whole bunch of mold on one side and bottom. The next day, 5/24/2019, I went back and they said I couldn’t have possibly bought it last night. I told her to check the camera and she’s still denying I bought it just the night before. The woman asked if I was sure someone else at home bought the same bread from before. Obviously not, I wouldn’t go through all of that trouble to get a $2 bread replaced. Unprofessional people, when someone nicely tells you a product you sold was growing mold, you should listen first not jump to your ridiculous and inaccurate defense. They offered an exchange which I took. In hindsight I shouldn’t have took the exchange. I wasn’t going to post a review but after I was accused of lying I had too. I will never ever purchase from this store again.
