What is worth choosing
If it is your first time visiting Kape't Torta, there is one item that stands above the rest as an absolute "must-try": the Ube Cheese Pandesal. This isn't just a regular bread roll; it is a masterclass in flavor contrast. The exterior is soft and dusted with a light crumb, while the interior reveals a vibrant purple ube cream that is perfectly balanced by a savory piece of cheese. Local food enthusiasts often recommend buying these in multiples because they disappear quickly. Pro tip: if you are taking them home to the suburbs or another borough, a quick 10-15 second reheat in the microwave is essential to melt the cheese and soften the ube filling to its ideal consistency.
For those celebrating a birthday or looking to impress at a dinner party, the fully Ube Cake is another stellar choice. It is renowned for being incredibly moist and rich without being overly cloying, showcasing the natural nuttiness of the purple yam. Additionally, keep an eye out for their Halo-Halo during the warmer months. While it is a popular item that can sell out quickly due to high demand, it is widely considered one of the most authentic versions in the Elmhurst area. Even if they happen to be out of a specific drink or seasonal item when you visit, the variety of "pan" (breads) available ensures that no visitor leaves empty-handed. From the Cheese Drizzle Pandesal to their specialty cakes, Kape't Torta offers a true taste of the Philippines right in the heart of Queens.
In conclusion, Kape't Torta represents the best of New York's diverse bakery scene. It combines affordability with high-quality, authentic flavors that satisfy both the nostalgia of the Filipino community and the adventurous palates of New York foodies. Its location on Queens Blvd makes it a convenient stop for anyone looking to brighten their day with a little bit of purple sweetness. Whether you are stopping in for a single bun or a whole cake, the experience at Kape't Torta is a testament to why local, specialized bakeries remain the soul of the city's culinary landscape.

This place is definitely worth the hype! This is my first time trying a fully Ube cake and Ube pandesals. They were both so yummy - we had to microwave the pandesals because it’s a 2hr commute to and from this cafe and home!! But the microwave did not remove any of the pandesal’s deliciousness. We were disappointed by the lack of the Ube drink both times we went… once in the afternoon (3pm) and second later at night (7pm).

Very yummy ube buns, but they ran out of their halo halo :( wanted to try that so bad - Ube cheese pandesal ($1.60): 9/10, so delicious and affordable. Must heat at home tho, otherwise it’s cold and the cheese inside is hard. But when reheated, the ube cream is really yummy! Went well w the cheese. Wish there was more filling tho. Originally only bought one, ate it, and then went back and got three more to heat up later lol - Cheese drizzle pandesal ($1.50): 6/10, mid and also had to reheat at home

Got the chocolate almond and ube cake slices, total $8.60. Chocolate one was nice and rich, brownie/fudgey like. 8/10. The ube cake was light, good ube flavor. 8.5/10. It's a small store with only 2 workers. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and waited maybe 30 mins to get my 2 slices.

Very nice desserts, not too sweet but flavorful. Service was very good, the attendant was kind and patient. The ube flan and chocolate almond were my favorite but I liked the other cakes a lot too. Would order everything again.
