What is worth choosing
When you visit Fay Da Bakery, the "must-try" items are undoubtedly the classic buns that have built their reputation. The roast pork bun (Char Siu Bao) is a standout choice, featuring a perfectly balanced sweet and savory filling encased in a soft, airy dough. For those who prefer something sweet, the pineapple bun (Bolo Bao) is highly recommended; despite its name, it contains no pineapple but is famous for its crumbly, sweet, buttery topping that resembles the texture of a pineapple skin. These items are baked throughout the day, ensuring that if you time your visit right, you might even catch them warm from the oven.
For those looking for a light snack or a treat to share, the egg tarts are another excellent selection. The crust is notoriously flaky, and the custard filling is smooth and not overly sweet, adhering to the traditional Asian preference for balanced flavors. If you are stopping by for breakfast, pairing a savory bun with a hot milk tea is the quintessentially Elmhurst way to start the day. Because the prices are so affordable, it is worth choosing a variety of different items to sample the range of textures and flavors the bakery offers. Additionally, for New Yorkers who appreciate a slice of cake that isn't heavy on sugar, their sponge cakes and cream rolls are light, moist, and perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up. Whether you are a long-time resident or just passing through Queens, Fay Da Bakery provides a high-value, authentic experience that remains one of the best ways to taste the local culture of Justice Avenue.
Ultimately, choosing Fay Da is about choosing a piece of Queens history. It is a professional operation that hasn't lost its soul over the decades. The bustling environment, the chatter of the regulars, and the trays of golden-brown buns all contribute to an experience that is uniquely New York. The bakery’s commitment to quality and community makes it a destination worth returning to, whether you need a single bun for the road or a dozen for your family. Next time you find yourself near the Grand Av station, follow your nose to 86-12 Justice Ave and discover why this bakery has remained a favorite for over a quarter-century.

Elmhurst and Jackson Heights are known for their many bakeries from different parts of the world. If you lived in the area stretching back 25+ years, these Asian bakeries have been an essential part of your daily morning routine (coffees and bread 🙌). You can never go wrong by popping in and grabbing something that you know was freshly baked, on the run—like what I just did. Let’s not forget to recognize the always friendly staff.

This bakery offers a wide selection of delicious Asian baked goods at very affordable prices. The staff work quickly and efficiently, though service is more straightforward than warm, as English isn’t their first language. The shop is kept clean, and the seating area is often filled with older regulars enjoying conversations over pastries and tea, which adds to the authentic atmosphere. Credit cards are accepted, but note there’s a $10 minimum for transactions.

So we always purchase a cake for celebration. When picking up the cake the staff was nice. After picking up the cake, we refrigerated it. Later in the evening when we opened the box up we saw the strawberries had mold. It was very unfortunate.

Great bakery. Also, to that driver who probably felt offended by my accidental wave ignorance at the intersection here, then I apologize for that. Thank you.

The food is disgusting. They force you to pay $10 and up with card. I got steamed buns and Japanese cake. The chicken in buns tastes weird and the cake smells like it was here for a while. Got ice chocolate and it’s just water with chocolate powder. The worst $12 spend.
