Mt Ararat Bakery Introduce
In the quiet, residential pocket of Oakland Gardens, Queens, lies a culinary destination that serves as a vital bridge to the rich traditions of Armenia and the Middle East. Mt Ararat Bakery is more than just a neighborhood shop; it is a cultural landmark for the local Armenian community and a treasure trove for New Yorkers seeking authentic, high-quality ethnic baked goods. Named after the historic mountain that symbolizes heritage and resilience, the bakery lives up to its namesake by providing products that are deeply rooted in tradition, crafted with precision, and served with the warmth that only a family-run establishment can offer. For those living in the five boroughs, finding "real" international flavors often requires a journey, but Mt Ararat makes that trip entirely worthwhile.
The bakery has earned its reputation by adhering to time-honored recipes that prioritize freshness above all else. In a city where mass-produced, frozen doughs have become the norm, Mt Ararat Bakery stands as a bastion of the "made-from-scratch" philosophy. When you step through the doors, you are greeted by an atmosphere that feels intimate and welcoming—a stark contrast to the sterile environment of corporate coffee chains. The shelves are stocked with a variety of breads, cookies, and honey-drenched pastries that reflect a mastery of Middle Eastern confectionery. It is a place where quality is assured by the very community it serves; because it caters to a local population with high standards for their own traditional foods, every customer benefits from the authenticity required to satisfy those "in the know."
Location and Accessibility are key for this Queens staple. Mt Ararat Bakery is located at 220-16 Horace Harding Expy, Oakland Gardens, NY 11364, USA. Positioned conveniently along the Horace Harding Expressway, the bakery is easily accessible for residents of Oakland Gardens, Bayside, and Douglaston. Its location near the Long Island Expressway (LIE) makes it a strategic stop for those traveling between Manhattan and Long Island. In fact, it is not uncommon for patrons to make a dedicated trip from Nassau County just to pick up their weekly supply of bread. While the bakery is nestled in a more suburban part of Queens, there is generally accessible street parking nearby, making it a much less stressful shopping experience than the more congested hubs of Western Queens or Brooklyn.
For New Yorkers who rely on public transit, the bakery is served by local bus routes that traverse the Horace Harding corridor, ensuring that even those without a vehicle can experience these Middle Eastern delights. Its presence in this specific part of Queens is a testament to the borough's reputation as the world's most diverse urban area. For locals, it is a convenient walk-in spot; for others, it is a destination worth the drive, offering a level of specialty product that simply cannot be found in a standard supermarket aisle.

I am not Middle Eastern but for this Thanksgiving I stopped in here to buy desserts for the family and try something different this holiday. Well, Everyone loved the cookies , baklava, honey covered sweets, and breads. It was a terrific hit, obviously freshly made, and all for a good price. Everyone especially liked trying a new type of dessert this year. This bakery is nestled in Queens’ Armenian community and in my view obviously serves the local Armenian community with ethnic baked goods, assuring a high level of overall quality.

Lovely store with many Middle Eastern goodies and the ABSOLUTE BEST BARBARI BREAD IN NY! We make the trip from Long Island often just for the perfectly baked, authentic and delicious bread. The owners are wonderful and shopping in this store is always a pleasant experience.

Great store for Arab groceries and pastries. They have great bread, olive oil and honey as well. They get their baklava from homemade baklava in Astoria. It’s nice to support a local business.

Nice bakery and small shop. Great for picking up freshly baked barbari bread, as well as packaged lavash, soujouk, kashkaval cheese, and staples such as bulgur, filo dough, and laghmajun. My only suggestion is to have more Armenian made products available.

They have a wide variety of Persian and Middle Eastern ingredients for a fair price. You'll find anything you need to cook a Persian dish, or if you're just craving Persian snacks. They even have Faloodeh! Also, the owner is very nice and welcoming.
