Bagel Shoppe

215-03 73rd Ave, Oakland Gardens, NY 11364, USA

My first time in the bagel place, so much confusion. my whole order got messed up, the older guy who I repeated my order to,still mixed it up. I'm sorry to say I was not happy my food almost got into a mix up if I didn't pay attention. Overall, I'm not coming back. He kept forgetting what I said and assumed what he heard I said and my food was not great. Thankfully I got just a regular bagel otherwise i would have had to find something else to get. The menu is hard to read and once you get up you are under pressure and overwhelmed. - Angelina Ramsochit

Bagel Shoppe Introduce

In the quiet, residential pockets of Oakland Gardens, Queens, the pulse of the morning is often found at the local bagel counter. For the residents of the New York metropolitan area, a bagel is not just a breakfast item; it is a cultural touchstone that defines the start of the day. The Bagel Shoppe, situated on 73rd Avenue, serves as a quintessential example of the neighborhood bagel deli that has long anchored New York communities. While the city is filled with high-concept eateries and modern cafes, there remains a deep, local appreciation for the "no-frills" establishments that focus on the fundamentals: a boiling kettle, a hot oven, and a wide variety of homemade spreads.

The Bagel Shoppe captures the essence of a traditional NYC deli experience. From the moment you walk through the door, you are greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of a busy neighborhood hub. Regulars swap stories over paper cups of coffee, commuters check their watches while waiting for a fresh "BEC" (bacon, egg, and cheese), and the display cases are packed with a colorful array of cream cheeses and deli salads. It is a place built on routine and the simple comfort of a well-made carb. In a borough as diverse as Queens, the Bagel Shoppe stands as a common ground for those seeking a reliable, affordable, and authentic taste of New York.

Location and Accessibility

The Bagel Shoppe is conveniently located at 215-03 73rd Ave, Oakland Gardens, NY 11364, USA. This location puts it in the heart of a bustling residential area, making it a primary stop for locals before they head out for their daily commute. For those using public transportation, the shop is a critical waypoint for residents catching the bus to work, as several major routes pass through the 73rd Avenue corridor. Its position at the corner of 214th Street and 73rd Avenue provides high visibility and easy access for pedestrians walking from the nearby garden apartments and family homes.

For those traveling by car, the shop is easily reachable via the Clearview Expressway or the Grand Central Parkway, both of which are just a short drive away. While street parking in New York is always a consideration, the residential nature of Oakland Gardens generally allows for easier parking compared to the denser commercial hubs of Western Queens. The storefront is accessible and designed for a quick "in-and-out" flow, catering to the fast-paced lifestyle of New Yorkers who need to grab their breakfast and go. Whether you are a local resident or just passing through the 11364 zip code, the Bagel Shoppe is a convenient and welcoming landmark.

What is worth choosing

If you are visiting the Bagel Shoppe for the first time, there are a few standout items that local patrons consistently recommend. The top choice is undoubtedly the everything bagel with egg salad. This combination has earned high praise for its contrast in textures; the bagel provides a crunchy, toasted exterior with a savory blend of garlic, onion, and seeds, while the egg salad is described by many as light, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. It is a hearty and satisfying option that showcases the quality of both the bakery and the deli sides of the business.

For those who prefer a classic breakfast, their "BEC" (Bacon, Egg, and Cheese) on a toasted roll or bagel is a reliable staple that many regulars swear by. When ordering, it is helpful to be clear and concise, as the shop can become very busy and overwhelming during peak hours. Some customers have noted that the menu can be a bit challenging to navigate under pressure, so having your order ready before you reach the counter is a pro-tip for a smooth experience. If you are in the mood for something simple, even a regular plain or sesame bagel with a thick schmear of scallion cream cheese is a great way to judge the quality of their bake. Whether you are looking for a complex sandwich or a simple carb fix, the Bagel Shoppe delivers the authentic, reliable flavors that have made the New York bagel famous around the world. It is a true neighborhood gem that rewards those looking for a taste of the real Queens.
