Nella’s Pastry Introduce
In a city as fast-paced and ever-changing as New York, finding a local spot that manages to feel both fresh and timeless is a rare delight. For residents of the East Village and the surrounding Lower East Side, Nella’s Pastry has recently emerged as a standout destination for those who appreciate the finer things in life—namely, high-quality coffee and meticulously crafted baked goods. Located in the area historically known as Loisaida, this new business is quickly becoming a beloved neighborhood fixture. It represents the quintessential New York "hidden gem," providing a space where quality isn't sacrificed for the sake of a trend, and where the community can find a moment of peace amidst the urban energy.
As a professional addition to the local culinary scene, Nella’s Pastry strikes a perfect balance between a traditional bakery and a modern, welcoming cafe. For New Yorkers who are tired of overcrowded, loud, and overpriced franchises, this shop offers a refreshing alternative. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy and friendly, making it an ideal choice for a morning ritual, a casual meeting with a neighbor, or a quiet solo afternoon. By focusing on affordability without compromising the excellence of their ingredients, Nella’s Pastry has positioned itself as a business that truly serves the people of the 10009 zip code and beyond. It is the kind of place that invites you to stay a while, whether you are stopping in for a quick caffeine fix or a full, savory lunch.
Location and Accessibility
Nella’s Pastry is situated at 133 Loisaida Ave (Avenue C), New York, NY 10009. This location puts it right in the heart of the vibrant East Village neighborhood, an area famed for its artistic history and diverse food culture. For local users, the shop is a convenient stroll from the historic Tompkins Square Park, making it a perfect destination to pick up snacks before a park day or a warm beverage during a brisk autumn walk. The storefront maintains a charming street presence that reflects the character of the surrounding tenements and boutique businesses.
When it comes to accessibility, Nella’s Pastry is well-integrated into the local transit grid. For those coming from other parts of Manhattan or the outer boroughs, the M9, M14A-SBS, and M14D-SBS bus lines provide frequent service with stops just a few blocks away. While the nearest subway stations, such as First Avenue (L train) and Delancey St-Essex St (F, M, J, Z lines), require a short walk, the stroll through the tree-lined streets of the East Village is part of the charm. Furthermore, for those who prefer to navigate the city on two wheels, there are numerous Citi Bike docks in the immediate vicinity. The shop itself offers both spacious indoor seating and pleasant outside seating, catering to different preferences for accessibility and comfort. The layout is thoughtful, ensuring that visitors have enough room to breathe and relax.

What is worth choosing
Navigating the menu at Nella’s Pastry is a journey through comfort and flavor. For those visiting for the first time, the roasted veggie sandwich is an absolute must-try. Locals frequently point to this item as a standout, highlighting the use of large, perfectly roasted mushrooms and a variety of other fresh vegetables, all tied together with a "terrific" signature sauce. It is a substantial and satisfying meal that demonstrates the kitchen's commitment to quality produce. If you are looking for a savory lunch that feels both healthy and indulgent, ordering two might be a tempting proposition based on local reviews.
On the beverage side, the tea service is highly recommended for those who have the time to sit and savor. Unlike many cafes that provide a simple paper cup and a tea bag, Nella’s serves their tea in a large, lovely teapot, making it a proper experience. Of course, the coffee is also a major draw, known for being consistently "great" and serving as the perfect companion to their assortment of fresh pastries. Whether you choose a classic croissant or a more adventurous baked treat, the pairing of a warm beverage with their artisan sweets is the gold standard of the Nella’s experience. Supporting this local business not only guarantees you a delicious meal but also helps preserve the unique, community-focused character of the East Village. Next time you are near Avenue C, make sure to stop in and discover your own favorite item on their growing menu.
In summary, Nella’s Pastry at 133 Loisaida Ave is a shining example of the best of the New York region's local business scene. It offers a sanctuary of quiet charm, exceptional food, and genuine hospitality. Whether you are there for the roasted mushrooms, the oversized teapots, or just a friendly face, it is an East Village destination that is well worth your time and support.

The owner was so friendly. The place is very cozy. The drinks are really good and they have a lot of pastry options (sadly no vegan).
