Dominican breakfast & lunch spot on a parked sleepy street in Alphabet City. small menu of bakery items, sandwiches, rice + and protein platters from the hot bar, and more. haven’t grabbed food here in a bit, but the food is solidly food and wallet-friendly…and you get to enjoy a bit of authentic eats from Dominican / Caribbean side of the ABCs. last time, i stopped by here—grabbed an iced coffee bc it’s quick and the coffee gets refreshed often, so it did its job of caffeinating and cooling me off on a summer afternoon. the bakery provides a lot options when you need quick calories on the go. the people who run Rossy’s are friendly and continue to make this a neighborhood spot for residents and newcomers alike. - Ruwan J.

Rossy's Bakery & Coffee Shop Introduce

Introduction / Overview

In the heart of Alphabet City, tucked away on a quiet, tree-lined street, lies a neighborhood gem that captures the true essence of the East Village's diverse cultural history. Rossy's Bakery & Coffee Shop is more than just a place to grab a quick caffeine fix; it is a vibrant cornerstone of the community that brings the rich, soulful flavors of the Dominican Republic to the streets of New York. For years, this establishment has served as a reliable haven for residents and newcomers alike, offering a warm and unpretentious atmosphere that stands in charming contrast to the often-frenetic pace of Manhattan. Whether you are looking for a hearty Caribbean breakfast to start your day or a quick, affordable lunch, Rossy's provides a home-cooked feel that is increasingly rare in the city’s modern culinary landscape.

The shop is a perfect reflection of the "ABC" streets (Avenues A, B, and C), where long-standing family-run businesses continue to thrive alongside new developments. Rossy's is celebrated for its authenticity, serving up traditional Dominican staples that satisfy both the palate and the wallet. The staff is famously friendly, treating every customer with the kind of neighborly hospitality that turns a first-time visitor into a regular. For anyone seeking a genuine taste of the Caribbean in the 10009 zip code, Rossy's Bakery & Coffee Shop remains an essential destination that prioritizes quality, tradition, and community spirit.

Location and Accessibility

Rossy's Bakery & Coffee Shop is located at 242 E 3rd St, New York, NY 10009, USA. Situated on East 3rd Street between Avenue B and Avenue C, the bakery is nestled on what many locals describe as a "parked, sleepy street" in the Alphabet City section of the East Village. This specific location offers a bit of a reprieve from the heavier traffic of the main avenues, making it a peaceful spot to stop for a meal or a snack during a busy afternoon.

In terms of accessibility, the shop is well-integrated into the local transit network. While the East Village is known for being a bit further from the subway than other parts of Manhattan, Rossy's is a manageable walk from the F train at the Second Avenue station or the F, J, M, and Z trains at Delancey St-Essex St. For those who prefer the bus, the M9 and M14A-SBS lines run very close to the shop, providing direct access from other parts of the city. Additionally, its location makes it a favorite for local cyclists and pedestrians who enjoy the scenic, historic blocks of the neighborhood. The storefront is easily recognizable and fits perfectly into the residential fabric of the street, offering an inviting entry point for anyone exploring this unique corner of the city.

What is worth choosing

When you visit Rossy's, the absolute standout is their selection of Dominican hot bar items. If you are looking for a meal that is both "delicious and cheap," the rice and protein platters are an unbeatable choice. The stewed meats, often featuring tender chicken or pork, are expertly seasoned and paired with traditional rice and beans. This is the kind of soul-satisfying food that defines the Caribbean side of the East Village. The portions are generous, making it an ideal choice for a substantial lunch that won't break the bank.

For those stopping by in the morning, the Dominican-style breakfast items are highly recommended. These provide a much more interesting and flavorful alternative to the standard bagel or muffin found elsewhere in the city. If you are in a rush, the bakery section offers plenty of options for "quick calories on the go," with pastries that reflect traditional Dominican baking techniques. Another simple yet essential choice is their iced coffee. As noted by regular patrons, the coffee is refreshed often, making it a reliable and effective way to cool off and caffeinate on a warm New York afternoon. Whether you are there for a full meal or just a quick snack, choosing Rossy’s means choosing a piece of Alphabet City history that serves food made with heart and authenticity. It is a destination where you can enjoy "solidly good food" while experiencing the local culture of the neighborhood.
