Sunday Morning Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the ever-evolving culinary landscape of the East Village, few things capture the local imagination quite like a perfectly executed, warm pastry. Sunday Morning, a specialized bakery located in the heart of Manhattan’s 10009 zip code, has rapidly ascended to legendary status among New York dessert enthusiasts. This isn't just a neighborhood bakery; it is a destination centered around the elevated art of the cinnamon roll. The concept behind Sunday Morning is simple yet profound: creating a space that feels like the best part of a weekend, regardless of which day of the week it actually is. By focusing on high-quality ingredients and small-batch production, they have managed to create a product that even those who aren't traditional "cinnamon bun fans" find themselves craving.
The vibe at Sunday Morning is a curated blend of modern NYC energy and cozy, soulful comfort. From the moment you step inside—or join the eager queue outside—you are greeted by a carefully selected R&B soundtrack that sets a relaxed, welcoming tone. The interior offers cozy seating options, making it a rare sanctuary in the city where you can actually pause and enjoy your treat. The bakery has become a viral sensation not just for its aesthetics, but for the sheer quality of its "soft and pillowy" bakes that are served hot out of the oven or expertly warmed to order. For anyone navigating the streets of Lower Manhattan, Sunday Morning represents the pinnacle of artisanal baking in a friendly, professional environment.
Location and Accessibility
Sunday Morning is strategically located at 29 Avenue B, New York, NY 10009, USA. Situated between East 2nd and East 3rd Streets, the bakery sits in the vibrant and culturally rich East Village neighborhood. This area is known for its eclectic mix of historic brownstones, community gardens, and some of the most innovative food spots in the United States. For locals living in the Alphabet City area, it is a convenient morning stroll, while for those coming from further afield, it serves as a perfect anchor point for an afternoon of exploring the East Side.
Accessibility via public transportation is straightforward for seasoned New Yorkers. The F train at the Second Avenue station is the closest subway link, providing a short and pleasant walk through the neighborhood to reach Avenue B. Additionally, several bus lines, including the M9 and M14A-SBS, stop within a few blocks of the bakery, making it easy to reach from both Midtown and the Financial District. While the area is bustling, the bakery's position on Avenue B allows for a slightly more neighborhood-centric feel compared to the frantic pace of nearby 14th Street. Visitors should be aware that because of its immense popularity, lines can be "insanely long," often exceeding 30 minutes during peak morning hours. Locals frequently recommend arriving at least 15 to 20 minutes before opening to secure a spot near the front of the line.

What is worth choosing
If you are planning your first trip to Sunday Morning, the "worth choosing" list begins and ends with their specialty cinnamon rolls, though picking a specific flavor can be the hardest part of the visit. The clear standout and a customer favorite is the Strawberry Earl Grey cinnamon bun. It has been rated an "11/10" by discerning locals, praised for its perfect balance of floral tea notes and bright fruit sweetness. The Earl Grey provides a sophisticated, slightly tannic backbone that cuts through the richness of the dough, making it a must-try for anyone looking for an elevated pastry experience.
For those who prefer a more traditional but still decadent option, the Cream Cheese and Chocolate options are highly recommended. These classics focus on the quality of the base dough—which is consistently described as "pillowy"—and the fact that the icing is perfectly tempered so it isn't overwhelming. If you lean toward citrus notes, the Blueberry Lemoncurd bun is another excellent choice, offering a tartness that complements the "on the sweeter side" nature of the rolls. Regardless of which flavor you select, pairing your bun with one of their curated coffees is essential. The bitterness of a well-poured coffee balances the sugary glaze perfectly. Because these rolls are served hot or warmed up, they are best enjoyed immediately in the shop's cozy seating area while the R&B tracks play in the background. If you see a long line, don't let it deter you; as the local consensus suggests, you should "run, don't walk" to experience what might just be the best bite of your life in the East Village.

I’m not even a huge fan of cinnamon buns like that, but these are INSANELY good omg!! So soft and pillowy, and they’re hot out the oven/warmed up for you. On the sweeter side. Need to come back!! The line is insanely long in the mornings though (30+ min). We came like 15 min before opening - Strawberry earl grey cinnamon bun: 11/10, so good!! - Blueberry lemoncurd cinnamon bun: 9/10, pretty good but liked it less than the strawberry

Where has this been all my life. Run, don’t walk to Sunday Morning. Classic cinnamon rolls and specialty flavors and great coffees. We ordered the cream cheese and chocolate options. Amazing, every bite. The icing was not sickly sweet. Great R&B soundtrack and cozy seating options.

Sunday Morning in NYC is one of those places that just makes you happy. It feels warm and welcoming and like the perfect way to start the day. I am a huge cinnamon roll guy and these were unreal. Soft, gooey, perfectly spiced, and honestly hard to stop thinking about. I am already looking forward to going back and next time I am definitely bringing my family and friends. Everyone needs to try these cinnamon rolls.

This place serves some of the best cinnamon rolls l've had in New York City, hands down. The moment you walk in, it smells like butter, sugar, and poor decisions in the best way possible. The rolls are massive, insanely soft, and clearly baked with care. The strawberry Earl Grey was smooth, lightly sweet, and surprisingly elegant. The blueberry lemon zest was bright, fresh, and perfect if you like a little tang. But the caramel pecan is on another level rich, gooey, and unforgettable. If you love cinnamon rolls, this spot is a must-visit and absolutely worth it.

Visited this spot for their popular cinnamon rolls and the variety of flavors and toppings. You can smell them from down the block, and they definitely live up to the hype. Luckily there was no line, and I grabbed a few rolls. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of the front staff. The service felt inattentive, the rolls were packaged carelessly, and the attitude wasn’t great. Management could really benefit from putting a more welcoming face at the front. The cinnamon rolls are worth the visit. The service could use some sweetness too.
