When it comes to the culinary fabric of New York City, few names resonate as deeply as H&H Bagels. For decades, this brand has been synonymous with the quintessential New York morning ritual. The location at 429 3rd Ave brings this legendary NYC-based bagel chain to the heart of the Murray Hill and Kips Bay area, providing a reliable and polished destination for both long-time residents and visitors seeking a taste of local tradition. This particular branch is noted for its contemporary aesthetic, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and a professional atmosphere that stands out in the bustling Manhattan streetscape.
Stepping into this H&H Bagels location, customers are greeted by a modern and "luxury" storefront design that elevates the typical bagel shop experience. While many local spots favor a gritty, old-school charm, this shop emphasizes a "nice, hot, and clean" environment. It serves as a dependable anchor for those who demand a consistent product backed by a famous name. Whether you are a "bagel snob" looking for the perfect chew or a commuter grabbing a quick bite before heading to the office, this location offers a premium setting to enjoy one of the city's most iconic exports. The shop balances the speed of a high-volume chain with the quality of a specialized cream cheese and lox program, making it a staple of the 3rd Avenue corridor.

H&H Bagels on 3rd Avenue distinguishes itself through several key highlights that make it a unique stop in the local bagel landscape. From the quality of the ingredients to the environment of the store, here is what makes this location noteworthy:
- Premium Interior Design: Described by visitors as a "very luxury store," the interior is exceptionally clean, well-lit, and "sexy," providing a high-end feel rarely seen in standard bagel shops.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting H&H Bagels for the first time or looking to deviate from your usual order, the standout choice is undoubtedly the Sesame Bagel with Lox Spread. While it is priced as a premium item at approximately $7.15 plus tax, the quality justifies the cost. The lox spread here is not merely pink-tinted cream cheese; it is packed with high-quality lox, providing a rich, savory experience that is significantly better than what you would find at a typical neighborhood deli. For those who want to "get fancy," upgrading this order with avocado and onion for a few extra dollars creates a robust meal that clocks in around the $10 mark—a fair price for a high-end Manhattan breakfast.
For the bagel purists who "don't trust the opinions of folks who like their bagels toasted," the freshness at this location is key. Ordering your bagel "as is" when it is slightly warm allows you to experience the authentic texture of an H&H bagel. While some may find the chew to be lighter than a traditional heavy-set bagel, it remains a decent size and serves as a perfect vessel for their generous helpings of schmear. If you are in the mood for something more indulgent, the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a bagel is a local favorite, even if the "snobs" might call it sacrilegious. Regardless of your choice, the combination of the clean, upscale environment and the reliable quality of their signature spreads makes H&H Bagels a worthy stop for anyone in the 10016 zip code looking for a classic New York bite.

Side note- I don't trust the bagel opinions of folks who like their bagels toasted, unless you're getting the sacrilegious BEC on a bagel. This is because a toasted bagel is bread in the shape of a bagel. Sorry, but not sorry for being a bagel snob. Anyway, this is one of the many locations of this NYC-based bagel chain. The inside is very clean, and the cashier was pretty friendly. I got a Sesame Bagel With Lox Spread for $7.15 + tax, so around $7.70, which is pricey, but hey, it's lox spread. The bagel itself was a decent size; neither the largest nor the smallest. This would have been fine, but it also lacked the chew I associate with a very good bagel. It was slightly warm, which made it a bit better than the closest bagel to where I live, but that's not saying much. It's certainly better than any of the bodegas in the area, and warrants the price to an extent, but there are better bagels around. Regarding the schmear, the lox spread was surprisingly high quality. They gave plenty, and there was a lot of lox inside. There's also an option for a few bucks more with lox spread, avocado, and onion, I believe, if you want to get fancy for around $10. Perfectly decent bagels with surprisingly good lox spread. Low 3.

Sept 9 2025 ; had to be the best strawberry bagel I had ever to the point I thought about it for three weeks ; now with that being said it had the right tart taste and not to mention the bagel was fresh . What a gem ; so it was nice inside, clean, soft music , ppl on laptops both times and not much traffic ; under ten dollars but it felt like home ; don’t think the deli could have done it like that . Would I go back absolutely because I have faith in that’s morning , lastly both employees was kind which is time notch for any establishment. Thank you for reading .

One of my favorite bagel spots in New York. The Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with the spicy sausage egg & cheese is fire! Staff are really friendly and helpful. Hassan is the man! Such a nice guy and makes the best bagel every time!

Visiting from Singapore. Passed by it by chance. Friendly service (thanks Hassan), clean joint (for these prices clean joints are hard to come by). Super yummy sandwiches (I ordered the spicy sausage egg and cheese), generous portions for an affordable price in NYC. Will return.
