Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero Inc. #2 Introduce
Nestled in the diverse and bustling neighborhood of Ridgewood, Queens, Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero Inc. #2 serves as a vibrant cultural anchor for the local community. For residents of the New York region, a "piqueteadero" represents more than just a place to eat; it is a traditional Colombian eatery where social gathering and hearty, rustic food go hand-in-hand. This establishment brings the soulful flavors of Colombia to Seneca Avenue, offering an array of baked goods and savory specialties that transport patrons directly to the streets of Cali or Bogotá. In a city where authenticity is the ultimate currency, Calibella Bakery has managed to carve out a niche by staying true to traditional recipes and providing a no-frills, honest culinary experience that appeals to both the Colombian diaspora and adventurous foodies alike.
The atmosphere at Calibella is characteristic of a classic neighborhood bakery—it is often a hive of activity, especially during the morning rush and weekend afternoons. As you step inside, the air is thick with the comforting aroma of fresh-baked "pan de bono" and the savory scent of frying empanadas. While New York is famous for its bagels and cheesecakes, places like Calibella remind us that the city’s true strength lies in its international bakeries. This spot is particularly well-known among savvy locals who utilize modern food-saving apps to snag high-value "surprise bags," making it a destination for those who appreciate both quality and a great deal. Whether you are stopping in for a quick caffeine fix or a full "bandeja" platter, Calibella offers a slice of South American warmth in the heart of Queens.

What is worth choosing
If you are visiting Calibella Bakery & Piqueteadero Inc. #2 for the first time, the savory selection is arguably the most essential place to start. Their empanadas are a perennial favorite among Ridgewood locals—crispy on the outside with a well-seasoned filling that perfectly captures the Colombian style. However, for a true taste of the bakery's skill, the "Pan de Bono" (Colombian cheese bread) is worth choosing every time. These small, yuca-flour-based breads are delightfully chewy and savory, making them the perfect accompaniment to a hot cup of Colombian coffee. Patrons have noted that even when items are purchased as part of a value bag, the quality of the dough and the freshness of the cheese remain consistently high.
For those looking for a more substantial meal, the piqueteadero options like the "Chicharrón con Arepa" are highly recommended. The pork belly is typically fried to a satisfying crunch, providing the hearty, fatty flavors that represent Colombian comfort food at its best. If you are a fan of sweet and salty combinations, do not overlook the sugar buns or the cheese croissants. These items are frequently included in their daily rotations and offer a lighter, yet equally satisfying, alternative to the heavier meat dishes. While some locals have noted that the service can be quite direct and busy, the quality of the food and the undeniable value—especially for those who use food-saving apps—make it a destination worth the visit. When you go, be sure to ask what has just come out of the oven, as the warmth of a freshly baked Colombian roll is an experience that defines the charm of Seneca Avenue.

I used too good to go app and got a leftover bag from them for $4. I was surprised by what I got. I wasn't too happy with it because I kind of wanted the sweets like cookies, cakes and muffins buuut the value was definitely there. I got 10 breads from a cheese croissant to rolls to sugar buns. They still tasted good and fresh. I'd recommend.

my mom has gone to this place twice, and we are realizing that they are overcharging her. The ladies are so rude so. Very upsetting considering the place has good food.

They over charged the people, and all the ladies in the front are very rude and disrespectful, they rush me every time even if i was the only one in the place… is good Colombian food but the service is terrible. 👎🏽

It's a joy to have a Latin bakery on Seneca Avenue. The place is always clean and all the food is excellent and is not old food. I love coffee and good customer service

The place is Colombian. Really upset about how they treat me the front person immediately told me you are Mexican and we are Colombian. I should immediately tell her you didn’t went to school and I finished a career in USA ( I didn’t) Good bread bad manners. Ignorance can be found in Colombia 🇨🇴 sad representation of a really nice culture. I would never spend my money in a place that treats people with disrespect.
